again with the catching up

So it looks like my new blogging schedule is once every two weeks. oh hai.

so what's new? well, we just got back from a lovely beach weekend with Jacob's family. We stayed in a crazy ridiculous house that included the following amenities: 1)beach front location, 2)big old jacuzzi tub in our room, and 3)an elevator.

Srsly. Here's the proof:

Now, I actually sort of hated RIDING in the elevator, because it was small and slow and kinda scary. But it was still cool to have one in the house. Ya know, just in case we wanted to use it.

We ate lots of seafood, and flew kites, and played Wii, and I read the last two books in the His Dark Materials trilogy (oh, sob. how I loved it.) I also got to spend some quality time with this guy:

I also finished the back of my Dollar and a Half cardigan!

I'm so close! and I'm actually getting a little nervous about running out of yarn. I got three hanks of the Brooks Farm Willow, which I think is 1200 yards, but I'm down to my last hank and I still have the two fronts and all the finishing to do. Yikes. They just started selling Willow on their site, but I don't see the colorway I purchased and um, I'm not sure I know where the labels are anymore. D'oh. So, I have plans to make it a little shorter if necessary. We'll see what happens when I get through the fronts...(crossing my fingers ... and also, if anyone has some Brooks Farm Willow in this purply color and is willing to trade or sell, let me know.)

In other knitting news, I co-taught my very first knitting class last week! Really, Darilee at Main Street did most of the teaching, and I just watched and helped when I could. But I'm really excited about it. I'm teaching a top down sock class, and we have four students, and I'm hoping I'll get to teach more in the future. Of course, it's very hard to visit Main Street and not be tempted by the yarny goodness...there is a whole wall of solid Louet Gems in sportweight that is calling my name. YUM.

I've also randomly picked up a new obsession. I did a stitch marker swap with some Ravelry friends, and I had a total blast making the stitch markers. Then I went to the Indie Craft Extravaganza in Atlanta and totally got inspired to just try and make one pair of earrings...or maybe twenty. Oops.

I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'm having fun just playing with beads and wire. Jacob has already teased about neglecting my quilting, but I'm not ditching one hobby for the other. I'm just exploring my options. Hee.

We have another trip coming up at the end of June (I'm a lucky schmoo with all the traveling this summer): We're going to Maine! I am so very excited. We're going for a friend's wedding, but we're going to hit up Boston for a few days, and then drive up the coast to the wedding locale. So I have a question for you: do you have any recommendations for places to stay and things to do while we're up in Maine? We have about three days to plan some activities. Anywhere in between Boston and Lincolnville, Maine works for us! We've already booked one night at a B & B, so we're up for any other ideas...

and that's all I've got right now! I have lots more to say about the Battlestar mid-season finale (although NO SPOILERS in the comments because my sis reads this blog and she's still in Season 2) and Season 3 of Weeds (which I just started tonight), but I should probably save that for another day. Or post it on a TV blog.
