Lace Leaf Pullover.

I have lots of pictures to show you from this weekend's Bling shenanigans...and there were shenanigans. But first, some long promised pictures!

I finally got the Pants to take some pictures of me in my Lace Leaf Pullover. I love this sweater! It's a little roomier than I thought it was going to be, but I like how comfortable it is, and I can wear it with jeans or to work with pants and it looks pretty good both ways.

Bella Schmoo likes it too.

Things I changed: I only did the lace leaf on the top of the sweater to avoid the grafting. (What can I say? I'm kind of a wimp about a big line of grafting in the middle of my sweater.) I also skipped the lace on the right sleeve (it's a yarnover lace motif down the middle of the sleeve, and it just wasn't working for me.) I also changed the collar a bit: instead of the longer ribbing and the button, I did about four rows of twisted rib in smaller needles and then bound off. The collar stands up just a little, and I really like the way it turned out. I seriously re-did the collar 7 or 8 times.

This is my serious pose.

I also had some trouble with the sleeve caps. My gauge was WAY off, so I had to do some major math, and my calculations didn't work out very well for the sleeves. I finally had to give up and say, well, even if they aren't perfect, they are wearable.

I think they're wearable.

I'll definitely wear this sweater a bunch, and it even looks cute with a collared shirt underneath. Love the yarn (Knit Picks Sierra) and LOVE the color. I don't have enough rich red in my wardrobe.

YAY knitting success! I'm finally making sweaters that I'll wear! Who knew? More postiness later this week with Bling pictures and fun times.

Schmoo it's gorgeous. Truly. I love. Look at you doing all that math on the fly! Sassy pictures, too.

Fabulous job on the lace leaf sweater! I think it looks seriously wearable - much more so than any other photo I have seen of it. The colour is awsome, and I think all your modifications worked out very well (I'm digging the collar). Congratulations on a job well done!

Carrie! How impossibly cute are you and Bella? The Lace Leaf is really lovely! I like the sleeves as they are, and I like that you out some of the lace leafing...Fun fun!!

Lovely! I love the color on you. Where is the pattern from again?

I also had some issues with sleeves lately. You are more dedicated than me... I just knitted them as they were... and now they are HUGE!

Posted by: Paloma at March 8, 2006 01:41 PM

That looks so wearable - great job. Great sweater.

Posted by: Theresa at March 8, 2006 08:16 AM

Love it. It looks so good!

(Don't you just love how many comments you get whenever you post about an FO? Maybe that's why I have so few commenters. No FO's= little comments. Ha ha. Oh well.)

Posted by: Stacey at March 8, 2006 01:56 AM

Wow, great job! It looks wonderful on you. I don't notice anything wrong with the sleeve caps either. Congratulations on finishing.

I know why you look so happy - 1) you have on a gorgeous red sweater; 2) you made the gorgeous red sweater; 3) the Pants is taking your fabulous pictures; 4) your schmoo is right there with you and 5) THE SUN IS SHINING!!!!!

What a beautiful day to be enjoying the fruits of your labor, the love of your life, and a beautiful schmoo!!!

Fabtastic sweater! Congrats on a stellar finish--you look great, happy, and the mods are awesome. You need to wear red more!

Posted by: Anita at March 7, 2006 02:10 PM

Cute! I think your mods were good ideas - your version looks more wearable for real life than others I have seen.

Looks fantastic.

I love the color on you! You did a great job - love the leaf motif!

Posted by: amanda at March 7, 2006 11:22 AM

I don't blame you for fearing the mid-sweater grafting. I think the sweater look fabulous, and I like how you modified the neckline.

Posted by: Gina at March 7, 2006 11:04 AM

It definitely has a great "this is comfy but I can dress it up, too" look - like it's good for the weekend but has a little spice witht he lace pattern. Once again, you show your knitting prowess, congrats!

Posted by: Jenna at March 7, 2006 10:51 AM

Darn - I thought I was past wanting to knit that sweater, but your's is just so cute, I am wanting to knit it all over again!

Posted by: briana at March 7, 2006 10:36 AM

I love that color on you! The sweater if VERY wearable, I think it looks perfect!

Posted by: Kate at March 7, 2006 09:54 AM

gawgeous! seriously, great color - and that's the first leaf lace pullover that actually makes me think about making one myself.

Posted by: Anne at March 7, 2006 09:24 AM

You are just the cutest thing in that sweater.

Posted by: claudia at March 7, 2006 09:02 AM

Aw, look at Jacob taking all those cute pics of you! The sweater looks awesome!

Posted by: biglug at March 7, 2006 08:50 AM

For all of the problems you mentioned, it sure is a cute sweater!! The color looks great on you.

Posted by: Jan at March 7, 2006 08:15 AM

DEFINITELY! I agree, its the best leaf lace pullover I have seen too. It looks great and you look great in it. Congrats!!!!

Posted by: suzanne at March 7, 2006 08:13 AM

Love the color, love the sweater, and your sleeve caps look fine from here. I want red.

Posted by: jessie at March 7, 2006 06:53 AM

This is the nicest Lace Leaf Pullover I've seen! I love it in red!

Posted by: Bear Knits at March 7, 2006 06:37 AM

I like your Lace Leaf sweater better than the one in the book. You made smart changes. Congratulations on a beautiful FO. Jane

Posted by: jane at March 7, 2006 06:26 AM

Your sweater looks fab! That is a great color. Mr. Pants sure does take nice pictures!

Posted by: molly! at March 7, 2006 04:28 AM

Great! Best version of this sweater I have seen so far. You are gorgeous in it.

Posted by: julia at March 7, 2006 03:00 AM

(by "the sleeve thing" i meant the lace up the right sleeve. duh, i'm not so clear at this hour.)

Posted by: carrie m at March 7, 2006 12:41 AM

oh, it's gorgeous, as are the photos! i definitely like the mods you made to the pattern. (the sleeve thing was a bit much, no?) this is definitely one to be proud of!

Posted by: carrie m at March 7, 2006 12:39 AM

It's so cute!! You look happy and so adorable.

Posted by: carole at March 6, 2006 11:10 PM

Wow Carrie! It's just gorgeous. I am going to have to try that Sierra! Can't beat the price, and I have to say, you make it look super rich!

Posted by: Leah at March 6, 2006 10:56 PM

It turned out great. I like the red color. It looks fab on you. :-)

Posted by: Isis (Lani) at March 6, 2006 10:48 PM

The sweater looks great and you look quite happy!

Posted by: Skylar at March 6, 2006 10:47 PM

The sweater looks fantastic on you! Kudos on a beautiful new FO!

Posted by: Rossana at March 6, 2006 10:41 PM

It looks great! The idea of grafting in the middle of a sweater kind of scares me off too. But it works well without the other leaf.

Posted by: Stacy at March 6, 2006 10:36 PM

it looks really great! ive been wanting to tackle that project for awhile and have been nervous about it. can i just say im so glad you recommend and list the yarns you use on projects? even though i havent been knitting much lately, i think it is extremely helpful for future projects i want to tackle.

Posted by: erika at March 6, 2006 10:28 PM

Yay! Lace Leaf turned out great. I think the modifications you made were smart ones and the fit really works for you. :)

Posted by: Karma at March 6, 2006 10:27 PM

Nice work! I'm glad you're validating the softness of sierra - I have been looking to get some, and I'm pretty picky about what goes against the skin, ya know?

Posted by: Julsey at March 6, 2006 10:25 PM

Hooray! I've been waiting anxiously for the result, and it's tremendous; congrats. I'm still working on mine with the Sierra, and it's okay so far, but I'm too chicken to start the grafting so I definitely understand your decision to skip it.
