Frak
Time. is. flying. and I am overwhelmed. I've been taking classes and working for almost two years now, and I usually find a way to manage my time, get everything done, and still blog and knit and relax and spend time with my schmoos, etc.
This semester is apparently the exception. I am SLAMMED. For the past two Sundays, I've had 9-hour marathon sessions on campus working on a group project. ICK. It's still not done. It feels like it may never be done, actually. I had my oral comprehensive exam last week (I passed! yay!) and had to show a "dress rehearsal" version of our final project. so. much. to. do. I hate to bitch and moan, but OMG when will the semester be over? srsly?!?
Luckily, my husband cooks me dinner. and also obtained all three previous seasons of Battlestar Galactica for my viewing pleasure (we are just starting season 3, so NO SPOILERS! and also, what is up with out-of-shape Apollo? so. bizarro.) And the BSG, it is great TV for knitting. I've actually finally finished a Mingus sock!

Right before I started my toe decrease.
and I'm dreaming of finishing some unfinished objects that have been laying around (Anais, and maybe my Drops sweater...) and also still knitting away on my Minimalist cardigan. I also participated in a swap on Ravelry with some fabulous girls, and I totally got some Malabrigo! My first ever! It's lace, and it's this beautiful pinky purple color ... I want to eat it, actually. Check out the other awesome stuff I got...

Sensual Knits! Yay! and some more yummy yarn, and some Addis,
and a project bag! and some of the best chocolate I've ever tasted - Vosges -
and - Cathy, look at this! a tiny version of Scattergories. YAY.
Mindy is all kinds of awesome - thanks so much, girlie! The chocolate has gotten me through several extremely stressful nights this past week.
Even my Ravelry time has been hurting lately - obviously my priorities need adjusting if I can't spend hours at a time lurking in the Big Issues Debate forum. HA.
I'm just looking ahead to the end of April/beginning of May, when the semester will be winding down, and I can let out a big deep breath and celebrate by hopping on a plane to Maryland with Anne Marie and seeing friends and getting some yarn. Lots of it. so. excited.
Things are really good, actually. Just busybusybusy, and I miss being able to sit down and blog. But the semester will be over soon, and then I have only two more semesters -- that includes summer! -- until I get my Master's degree. YAYAYAYAYAY!
Hope you had a good Monday! I'm going to go watch some more BSG....

I found your blog after googling "knit blog." I loved your writing style, so I read the archive. The ENTIRE archive. :) Great, great blog, and I love the non-knitting related content. Oh! and I call my husband 'Pants' too! (don't tell him I told you!) You have a new dedicated knitter/reader.

OMG I can't believe you used THE "F" word! I too discovered the joy of knitting to BSG - only beginning season 2, so I'm ignoring the fat Apollo reference.
Hope things calm down for you soon - as they will. In the meantime, great gifties to drool over!

I hate group projects. They are such a time-suck, and I never get as good a grade as I do on the projects I do alone. I feel your pain - this semister I feel like I am drowning. Good luck getting through it all.

Fat Lee! Isn't that awesome...that's a fat suit, by the way. Amazing make-up.
We did the same sort of thing with BSG. We jumped on the bandwagon really late, so two summers ago we were madly fixing up our house by day to prep for a house-warming party, and staying up all night for marathon BSG sessions. We got so sucked in, so fast. Awesome show.
Love that Malabrigo! I've never knit with it, but it so pretty in its little bundles.

My favourite saying at stressful times comes from a parable about King Solomon: 'This too shall pass'. In the meantime, I can't think of a better way to relax than Malabrigo, chocolate and Battlestar Galactica. So say we all!

As a recent Ph.D. survivor I can tell you that there is light at the end of that tunnel. Hang in there and just keep doing the things you love to do and spending time with the people (and pets) you love. This is the only way to maintain your sanity. Good luck.

I feel your pain! I've got a year left on my master's and it can't come fast enough. My husband doesn't make me dinner, though. But he is good at warming up some leftover or making me a sandwich!

I just recently got some Malabrigo for the first time myself. Very nice stuff.
I'm sorry you're so stressed...hopefully it will all be over soon.

I was there a few years back when I was working full-time while trying to go to school full-time too. Not to mention teaching Kick-boxing 3 nights a week. I am so thankful for it to be over. You won't know what to do with yourself once you finish school.
Hope to see you at Maryland Sheep and Wool. This will be the first time I attend.

Congrats on your oral comps! Good luck getting through the rest of the semester. I'm counting down to the end up here in NY too.

You are so welcome! I hated my oral comps. That was a nightmare. Congrats on passing!!!

School and full-time work can be such time sucks. I think you're doing splendid, getting in some t.v. and knitting time. And thanks to you, I'll have to look into that Malabrigo stuff :p

Oral comprehension exam? Does this mean you're halfway through already?
Any chance you can squeeze in time for lunch? I'm leaving Athens forever in three weeks. . .

Hang in there, Carrie! I don't know how you do it all.
I love your green sock yarn! :)

Too busy even to lurk around in the Mystical Creation Yarns thread? I just couldn't stop looking at that one, then I got sidetracked, went back later, saw 2000 or so entries I hadn't read and marked it as ignore. Lotsa crazy in that one...
