Multi-tasking.
So. You know my pretty lightbox picture of my sweater? I'm really glad I posted it, because I realized after reading my comments that I was knitting the Minimalist Cardigan WRONG. oops. I guess I should read the pattern, eh? I read about it on blogs/Ravelry and I kept reading seed stitch, seed stitch ... so I just forged ahead with regular old seed stitch.
That is not right. It's a seed stitch pattern. D'oh. I emailed Veronique to thank her for her comment and I think she felt bad - but seriously, I'm glad! I love the way the cardi looks with the actual pattern as written, so I'm glad I realized it now instead of later.
So I r-r-r-ripped that sucker. And I read the pattern. and started again.

ahh. that's better.
This is my take-everywhere knitting, so it's slow going, but I love it.
I've also been knitting away on Emily's Mingus raffle socks. I've got two socks done to the heels, and I've turned the heel on Sock One. I love this pattern! I think they are going to be awesome, and I think I might have to knit a pair for myself. Like that'll ever happen. But a girl can dream.
Let's see. What else is new? I went to Mississippi last weekend to see Jacob's grandparents and his mom and celebrate Easter good times. Here's what I learned in Mississippi this weekend: if you go to the grandparents' church on Easter Sunday, you might have to sing a special. Don't try to avoid it. Just sing it.

Practicing for the special. I played the piano and sang low harmony, and my sister-in-law Alison sang lead. We're like a family band.
We also ate dinner at Catfish Country, which features an all you can eat buffet (with catfish), and lots of friendly people. One waitress was so friendly, in fact, that she and her family sang a spur-of-the-moment song for everyone in the restaurant. The video isn't that great, but listen to the audio...

Dude. They were rockin' awesome.
My stomach has almost recovered from all the Mississippi fried goodness. Now it's back to work, and school, and lots and lots of Flash programming. Soooo much Flashy flash, for both work and school. At least I'm getting better at it. There's also been lots of Ravelry, and lots of TV (who's watching American Idol? Carly is my favorite. and oh we started watching BSG. LOVE.) and quilting too.
I have actually quilted my first little quilt, and I'm trying to find the time to do the binding. I did it on my machine, used a walking foot and everything, like a fancy pants machine quilter. SO FUN. I can't wait to do the binding and have it finished and then start the whole process over again.
I've been taking lots of pictures, too, since I'm doing the 365 Days project on Flickr. Here's a recent one that is very representative of my week:

I need coffee. EVERY. MORNING.
It's been a long week, but tomorrow is Friday and I'm going to see Girl Talk and sew and knit this weekend! yayayayayayay. Now I'm off to lurk on the Rav forums...

I guess that to receive the loans from banks you ought to present a firm reason. Nevertheless, once I have got a short term loan, just because I wanted to buy a house.

Hi Carrieoke, when are you going to post again? I truly dig your blog and I miss regular postings from you. Sorry, about your cardi, though. I too have had to frog almost an entire garment and start over (with much gnashing of teeth, mind you) Hurry back, you are missed!

Ohh, love GirlTalk! Awesome.

You're gonna love that sweater all the more for all the work you put in it to make it *just right* YAY! and YAY to coffee, elixir of life.

That's some singing talent!
Love the texture and raspberry colour of the cardie!

I can't decide if I want to curse you or kiss you. I've made the EXACT SAME MISTAKE with the Minimalist Cardi. ARGH!! I guess better with just 12" of the back done than the back, both sleeves, and the right front. Off the frog pond. . . .

You are so cute! I love your glasses. And the impromptu song at the restaurant! How awesome was that?!

Coffee is definitely a necessity.

BSG. YES. SO GOOD.
Sorry, I got distracted by your mention of the Space Hotness.
ANYWAY...I love the color of that cardi. And quilting? You rule.

I am so jealous of your quilt. I am just a little ways into quilting my first one (that I started um, over a year ago) and then I broke my walking foot. I thought about ordering a new foot but really, I just need a new machine. So, I'm saving the pennies for it. Can't wait to see yours!
Glad you posted...I've missed ya lately! Any plans for festivals this year?

You are not alone in suddenly having to sing at a church service. In my case it was the Christmas Eve service, and I sang with my sister.
Dang, I want some coffee now.

Ooh, I want to see the quilt! I've been toying with the idea of quilting for quite a while now...

You bet your sweet bippy we're watching AI! I'm rooting for David Cook (my husband calls him baldy due to the combover) but mostly just praying that Kristy Lee goes home and SOON. The fact that she's outlasted Chikezie just...well.
ANYWAY! The Minimalist Card v.2 looks grand, and it sounds like a great mini-vacation to Mississippi. :) I'm totally intrigued by the idea of a catfish buffet.

Sounds like a fun Easter! And I love, love, love BSG as well. Can't wait for season 4 to start in 1(!) week.

Sorry about the rip, rip, ripping of your cardi. That always sucks.
I'll Fly Away is one of my all-time favorite songs. Loved that audio!

quilting is in the air for us knitters. i just finished my first quilt, sure it is 12 by 14" but it is a quilt. i loved the binding part, it reminds me of knitting with its tiny invisible stitches to finish. can't wait to see yours.

Your new seed stitch pattern looks great! That's at the top of my Ravelry queue (which I also spend a lot of time on).
We also did the Easter Sunday church in the South thing, but thankfully we didn't have to perform. Props on your special though!

Damn, those Catfish people can sing!
Coffee is good.

My first comment on your blog! I live in South Mississippi at the moment, and OH THE FRIED GOODNESS! I live with tight jeans.
I love the look of the minimalist cardi, it will be worth the wait!! Congrats on your quilting project, I have yet to do any quilting but plan to learn one day. For now, I'm a newb knitter and that's plenty challenging enough!

ah, yes, double seed stitch. that was all over my kyoto. it's a little thicker than regular seed stitch. kinda nice, no? anyway, can't wait to see your quilt!
Posted by gleek | March 28, 2008 10:24 AM
Congrats on conquering double seed stitch! (Or whatever it is called). And yes, I did feel bad about saying something negative on your blog :(
Ooh, quilting... I'm having a little quilting party this weekend, must be in the air :)

Makes me wish i wasn't of the tone deaf variety. I don't even sing Happy Birthday at parties...I just mouth the words.

Oooooh. Cardi is preeeeeetty!
You're quilting now? Look at you go, Miss Multicraftual!
