Super Tuesday!
Lots of primaries today! I voted before work this morning.

I'm rocking my sticker.
So, get on out there and vote today if there's a primary in your state! (This message inspired by the post at Mary-Heather's blog.)
This weekend was fun filled. Including, but not limited to, new hair fun:

Let's try red for a while.
I got it cut and colored, and I'm loving both. It is super red, which I love, but was a little bit of a shock at first. It's exactly what I asked for, but I haven't seen myself with red hair in a while. Jacob is still getting used to it.
Other weekend fun times? Eating chili and watching the Super Bowl with my family:

Yes, that is Cathy. Not a floating head.
and coming very, very close to finishing the never-ending Drops sweater. Ya know, the one that knits up SO quickly. Gah. Here's where I am:

Almost.
So here's my question. I think I only have enough yarn to make the sleeves that length (the one in the picture above), but I'm not loving what the double seed stitch is doing. It looks chunky and puffy and weird. What would be a good alternate for the double seed stitch? Carolyn suggested possibly keeping it stockinette but turning a hem, which I'm seriously considering. I just don't like the way it looks currently. The sleeve length is okay, but not the edging.
There have been exactly ZERO strips cut since I took that picture of myself cutting quilt strips. I'm going to try to dedicate sometime to my quilt this week, but school is eating up all my free time. well, school and bad television.

Lovin' the red hair! I just went red, too. Must be a winter boredom/Valentine's Day thing? It looks great on you! What kind of shampoo/conditioner are you using to make sure it doesn't fade?

Yes - stockinette! And if you can, maybe go a little wider and longer on the sleeve? Kind of "today" in look, I hope!

Love the hair, Carrie, and you make my day!

so, I totally ripped off the voting sticker pic idea from you, but TOTALLY forgot to comment the last time I was here! YAY FOR VOTING! and YAY FOR RED HAIR!!!

I love the red hair on you! It looks very hot.
I hear you on the drops sweater. I've been working on one too. Forever it seems. I have little to no attention span lately, which doesn't help.

I've noticed in your posts since your wedding that you have a FABULOUS manicure! Sorry if that's weird. :-)

lurvly hair color BUT smile girl - you look fabulous. I like the idea of the hem too - sweater looks great! I voted too but in TN we didn't have such cute voter stickers!!

I think that a hemmed picot edge would look good. Love the red. I haven't done red for a while--perhaps it's time!

what about regular old seed stitch or just a regular 2 by 2 rib? it's beautiful otherwise!

Oh my gosh we have the same camera too... I'd better call that scooby gang!

Wow coincidence! I've just dyed my hair red underneath *scooby doo moment* and I posted about it only 3 days ago on my blog (click on http://adelesknittingblog.blogspot.com/ for proof). Being British (sips tea and guffaw's) I can't do any voting at the mo but have been watching your elections with great interest. I think the world is!
As to add a little change of opinion: You could rib at the end? It probably wouldn't go with the rest of the jumper though.

duuuuuuude... i got no sticker. i'm very jealous. oh, and i went red recently and it's been great so far, i've gotten tons of compliments! ... forget blondes, us fake red-heads have all the fun!

Love the hair, and I too think you should go for the hem.
Thanks again for last night, I was totally freaked out. Is it wrong to flip your fiance the bird while writing your vows? Ha!

Yay! More redheads!!! It suits you!
The puffy double moss may behave with some steam applied. If not, single moss is worth a try. Would a hem be too bulky? I can't tell without touching your knitting and we're too far apart for that!

I think the stockinette with a hem cuff sounds good. I vote for that.

whoo hoo!! the red looks really good!
how abt just doing seed, not doub seed but plain ol' seed. it still has the likeness of the seeding in the front panel w/out the bulk.

your new red do is h-a-w-t. *sizzle*

Love the hair, and isn't voting fun this time around?

Also de-lurking to say your hair looks great! The color will look amazing with that new sweater. My two cents: even if the sleeve puffiness comes out in the blocking, at where it hits at your elbow, it will always get poofed back up again.

Yay voting!!! Yes we can. :)
Your hair looks *amazing*. I love it - edgy and really cute.

i like your new hair color! and i think you're right about the cuff of the sleeve. a bit too chunky? would regular seed stitch not work?
Posted by mai | February 5, 2008 11:57 AM
a) love the hair, like everyone else.
b) I like the idea of the double seed stitch; maybe with smaller needles, or on fewer stitches (or both) so it doesn't puff out like that? Perhaps a stiff blocking to make it submit to your will?

De-lurking to say Yay for voting! and I lurve your red hair. :)

the hair is just so lovely. :)
red-head schmoo, you.

i love the red teamie!
Posted by joanna | February 5, 2008 10:44 AM
love the hair! and yes, a turned hem is a good idea i think.
Posted by gleek | February 5, 2008 10:42 AM
Your hair cut is so fabulous, it makes me want to go do something dramatic with my own. Then I remember that I absolutely hate having to "do" my hair and I end up sticking with what I have :)
I think a turned hem is a good idea for the sleeves. It looks like you also might want to decrease them a bit more so they don't float around your arm as much. A little turned cuff, like the neckline, would be cute too.

the hair looks fab! and so does the sweater. i think the idea of a turned hem is probably the way to go; it will give the sweater a neat, polished look. and yay for voting! i'd love to vote, but stupid ny won't let independents vote! what a dumb rule :(

I love the red and the new wispy haircut! I've been thinking of a similar style. My hair is almost as long as yours now and I have a lot of hair...really thick. Any haircut that involves layers and paring down the volume totally appeals to me! TOO MUCH HAIR!
