Lazy Blogger
It's been two weeks since my last post. I think about posting all the time - things I want to say, pictures I want to put up, hilarious anecdotes that I want to share. Har. and then I have to, like, work.and study. and sleep. I really, really want to post more for a totally selfish reason: I like to look back at my posts and remember what I was doing a year ago. When I only post twice a month, it's not really a good picture of what was going on. I used to post like every other day. Geez.
So, that's my story about how I want to post more. The End.
Jacob and I just got back from a park - the Athens Astronomical Society set up some frickin' huge telescopes and we watched the lunar eclipse. It was fabulous. One of the telescopes was so huge that you could actually hold your camera up to it and take a really nice picture of the eclipse.
We forgot our cameras. D'oh! But Jacob had his iPhone, so we have one kinda okay picture from that.

Eclipse.
Hooray! The moon was a really pretty tea color. They also had a telescope on Saturn, which totally looked like a sticker someone had slapped on the end of the telescope. Very cool.
In others news, my progress on the Drops sweater has sort of stalled. The sleeves are bothering me, and I don't feel like figuring out how to fix them. There are tons of ends to weave in, and I haven't picked out buttons. Harumph. I think I'm going to let it sit for a little while and come back to it. I've been working steadily on Jacob's sock, bur I think it's time for a new project.
so, what to knit? I want to make something I can wear to work. And I want to make something that's with worsted weight (or thinner) yarn. It also needs to be not 100% wool, because it's just not a realistic fiber for Georgia.
I really love the Minimalist Cardigan in the Fall 2007 Interweave - [ Ravelry link ], but hi, the body is moss stitch. I don't know if I can handle an entirely moss stitch sweater. I think I would wear the crap out of it, though. hmm.....need to check the stash.
Any suggestions for a new spring-y knit?
I've been posting to Flickr lots - I'm doing 365, which means I post a picture of myself every day for 365 days. I started on January 2, so even in this leap year, it's still 365. Here's today's:

Lunchy.
Things I've learned so far:
1. Natural light is good.
2. Flash, not so much, usually.
3. I have wrinkles around my eyes.
4. I know nothing about how cameras work, or taking good pictures.
But, I guess that's why I'm doing 365, right? To learn how to take better pictures?

Hi Carrie. Its Amber. I like the Lunor Eclipse. The 21 was Abby's 12th birthday. How are you and Jakob doing. Alot has been going on. I fractured my left knee. Perfect timing right for the start of my travel team season. So I am out for 3 weeeks. Hope you are having an awesome time whatever you are doing.

I feel your pain over the Minimalist cardigan. I want it badly, got the yarn in stash, and just think the miles o' moss stitch would suck my soul out. Still, it is a sweater I'd wear every day if I had it.

I got to see a bit of the eclipse, but due to (a) cold weather and (b) a hellish commute home, I was too tired to see it go much past half. Thanks for posting the pic so I could see what I missed!
How 'bout a fun, light fluffy Spring knitting thing? I'm doing the Travelling Roses Scarf, and it's complicated enough to keep me interested, but not really all *that* complicated; I'm using lightweight yarn on size 8 needles, which is making it a bit bigger than the original (7 repeats, and I'll be done). It's going to be a fun, fluffy scarf (I'm using Bernat-dazzle-something-or-other), assuming I can ever locate the other ball of the stuff I purchased. Just an idea!

Blogging gets hard sometimes. It's hard for me right now - it feels like one more task to do. I say put it off until you get the mojo back!
BTW, That's a good picture I think.

Love your hair color! You should come visit me so I can see it in person :)

Yeah, you need to blog more. (hahaha coming from me anyway!) the photo is so pensive - would love to see more of your 365. You always have great pics - good arrangements, etc. - but I guess we can all improve so YAY to you for making that commitment. School will ease up sometime and you'll have more time but that cardigan AND that henley would look fab on you.

Oh, I hear ya on the Minimalist Cardi! I know I'd love it once it was done but the miles of moss stitch! Okay, miles may be an exaggeration but still.....

amazing shot of the moon, thanks for sharing. If you look closely you can see a ninja silhouetted against the sky. It believe it may be a knitting ninja, flying through midair!

I have been wanting an slr camera for freaking-ever but am so impressed with that lil iPhone picture. Yay iPhone! (Well, it cost as much as the camera, right?)

Oh, I'm doing the 365 too. find that I take several photos of myself at one time when the Muse is talking to me. I know we are "supposed" to take one a day but that just doesn't work for me. Sorta like having to follow an outline for an English paper. I'm much more creative when I wrote here and there without the outline to box me in.
Like your 365 today photo.

I haven't posted in forever either, so I feel your pain! :-) Cool pic of the eclipse...we didn't get to see it here thanks to cloud cover.

Your iPhone kicked my SLR's ass. Pathetic. Even if you did use a telescope.

Ths moss stitch actually isn't that bad - it kept things interesting for me. I usually take EONS to finish stuff, but I knit the Minimalist in about 3 weeks.

Want a hint on the seed stitch? Put something fun on one of the needles that reminds you to start with a purl. I usually use my Denise Interchangables, and I have a blue set and a pink set (from a friend who didn't like them) so I use pink = purl. I'm guessing a stitch marker, fun bead, row counter, etc would work just as well.
I've always loved the look of seed stitch! It looks so professional.

Your one phone pic is so much better than my high end digital camera pics!

I really like that picture of you for today's 365. I think it tells a story. Sorry to hear about your stalled project - it happens to the best of us, for sure!

Hi, I just found your blog a week or so ago, and I noticed right away that your photos are getting better and better since the beginning. Yes, I did go back and read all your older stuff. I can really see how your knitting has progressed. I want to be a wonderful knitter like you when I grow up.
Anyway, love your blog, keep knitting...

Yes! You must post more often :)
Beautiful photo of the eclipse.

Hey pretty!
I have no idea what you should knit for spring, but I really like your necklace! YAY!

For a spring knit my vote is for "Thermal" from Knitty. I didn't really even give it a second look until I saw this one on Ravelry.

Sorry, not sure how to properly post a link right here, but anyway, Thermal is my vote.
Love the picture of the eclipse, too. Thanks for sharing.

i always think i want to do moss stitch but it gets to be a drag after a while. especially when i accidentally do ribbing every once in a while by accident. ;)

I'm finally de-lurking.
Pretty pretty picture. We had no eclipse here. Only clouds. BOOO.
Funny 'nough - I am stuck on the sleeves of the moss stitch cardigan. Maybe we can trade ideas on sleeve construction! :D

I thught the same about the Minimalist cardigan and yesterday when I was at Old Navy they had hoodies in seed stitch. I did a very non-knitter thing and bought one since I will probably never knit a whole sweater in seed stitch. I think I'm going to get another!

I wish I had heard about 365 somewhere in the beginning of the year- I didn't hear about it until last week! I think it's a great concept, and congrats for doing it. Love that necklace you're wearing in the photo!

Neat moon picture. It was so pretty. Your hair looks great that color!
Posted by jessica~ | February 21, 2008 9:22 AM
i think the minimalist cardigan is beautiful as well, and very wearable. but i'd never make it solely because of all that moss stich (shudder). i'm loving your new hair color, but it has faded quite a bit since the last photo you posted on yoru blog, hasn't it?
Posted by mai | February 21, 2008 9:18 AM
So just pop your 365 photo up on your blog. that would be a good start to get you posting more frequently. Look at me! If I can do it, anyone can. Umm, not for a whole year, though. That's hardcore.

If seed stitch gives you hives, maybe you could find another stitch pattern that gives the the same gauge? Something easier on your hands? Or do you knit continental? In any case, you'd be super cute in that cardigan. Super. Cute.

I had the same thought about the Minimalist Cardigan -- how in the world would you get through all that moss stitch? I've seen it knitted up, though, and it's supercute. I wonder if it would help that it's more of a cropped, fitted style? You know, less overall to knit?

Hey great to see you back. i just have to say I love your necklace in the last picture! Did you make it yourself? I think we all relate to the business of life, I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to become a millionaire so that I can knit and sing to my hearts desire.... yeh maybe not...

I'm so jealous that you actually got to see the eclipse. The clouds were rolling in while hubby and I were out with out telescope trying to check it out. Not long before the total eclipse the moon was completely blocked out by the clouds.
