Delinquent.
I am a delinquent blogger.
I've been called out by two friends about my lameness in blogging lately. One friend commented that every post doesn't have to be a novel. This is true. But I feel like a post without pictures is so borrrrring. And then, the pictures need to be explained. And they must be from a similar time or event. And also, I should probably mention knitting at least once and I should probably be funny.
These are the blogging rules that I have in my head for some reason.
So I'm attempting to just POST with no plan! OMG! I'm not even going to tell you what I did this weekend - although I did go to Chicago, which is so totally blogworthy. I'm just a-posting away. I might even post a picture with NO EXPLANATION.

There is a fan in my tutu.
Ahem.
Has anyone else noticed that the National Geographic Channel now refers to itself as "Nat Geo" in commercials? Not cool, National Geographic Channel.
I just finished seaming the sides of my Drops Jacket, and I'm about to start on the sleeves. I'm trying something new for me - inspired by
Flint Knit Pam's beautiful sweater, I'm going to attempt top down, short row sleeve caps. I've got a copy of Knitting from the Top and a tape measure. I'm ready to go.

I'm even ready for the math part.
My trip to Chicago was fabulous, but I am sick as a dog now. I'm going to go drink some Theraflu and watch a show a NatGeo special on babies. I'm even going to post this entry, even though it doesn't follow all of my self-imposed rules.
This random post is brought to you by Carolyn, who has the best restaurants recommendations of anyone I know. And the best hair.

no need to explain the sumo costume! we've come to expect such kookiness from you and jacob.

Whoa. Agreed on all counts - posts SHOULD have photos (I feel incredibly lazy when I don't post one), and Nat Geo? No. Just not a good name for them.

I tend to have self-imposed blogging rules too, which I am trying to get away from in 2008. I enjoy reading your blog and hope you continue to post regularly.

I hope our cold weather here in Chicago didnt get you sick. However, I am pretty sure it was because I live here and stay sick! Sorry. But please come back when its warmer :)

glad you're BAAACK - the costume is just too silly! You should just blog about what you want - I mean, will you really get flamed if it doesn't meet some format? OH WAIT!! yeah, you might - umm better be careful and wear your non-flammable pj's when knitting!!

i know how you feel about blogging. i always have to have these long posts! and i try to cut them down too :) it's just not my style i guess. but posting once per week is totally doable now that i know how to schedule posts (p.s. you need to update your copyright date below.)
love that pic of you in the sumo outfit. hilarious!

so cool you got to visit our fair city. was it winter-winter weather or summer-winter? your picture is hilarious.
i just finished my drops jacket for the 2nd time. the first time it was too big and the second time it's too small.

I'm glad you enjoyed Chicago! Sorry you are sick. Yuck-o.
I should tell you that your costume (the tutu get-up) is the same one that not one, but two people I work with showed up in on Halloween. They didn't plan it the night before either. It was hilarious.

Help - I have never "blogged" (is that even the right term?) before but I am desperate! I knit my husband this beautiful cabled hat that turns out to be too big at the bottom (the band), but fits perfectly at the crown. It is 100% wool and I don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

that Halloween picture makes me SO HAPPY.
s
Also, good luck with the sleeves! I'm totally addicted to that technique now, by the way. Custom fit shoulders for all!

I LOVE the picture!
Who needs rules!
Can't wait to see the sweater.

Lookin' good! Miss you!

I think more people need photos of them in the process of knitting. It's such a large part of MY life at least and there's only one. Definitely disproportionate.

I'm with the Strizz, I can't wait to see you post the line by line instructions on how to do those sleeves.
It was awesome to see you dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I just figured you were off having all that mythical married sex everyone talks about.
AhahahahahaaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HA.
I slay me.
p.s. nice tutu

I hear ya on those rules. I think the same thing...not that my blog shows any signs of them. I always aim for those things but them end up either scrapping them or not posting at all.
I suck.

Oh Cool You're alive!
Nice Tutu

i have a bunch of friends who are anthropologists and archaeologists, and i've gotten used to them all talking about NatGeo... funding, grants, etc, it's a huge part of their lives, and if you're gonna say it that many times a day well... short-cutting happens! "hey dude, you get that proposal in to NatGeo yet?" "yo last time i was in the jungle i accidentally tripped an auto NatGeo cam, oh well!"
... but when the STATION started identifying themselves as such? a bit over the top.

I have the same blogging rules. Not sure why. I'm trying for shorter posts, but it only happens once in a blue moon! But what you does works, so why change it? Although the randomness of this post is great too! Love the sumo outfit.

Um, the image of you in the sumo tutu may be forever etched in my brain. Yay for Chicago! I miss you and your posts, so rules be damned, just tell us what's up. :)

Hooray! She blogs! Life is good!
I also dislike unnecessary abbreviations. NatGeo is ugly! I think my distaste for such comes from growing up in a university town with an overpopulated fraternity/sorority system. Peoples, the name of your house is just a few letters. Is it really necessary to abbreviate letters?
You are automatically funny and entertaining and instructional when you blog--you don't even have to try! Thanks for sharing! And, more please?

I eagerly await your top-down sleeve cap results; I have to do those too and have no idea how. I knit the body of a sweater whose sleeve instructions basically say to pick up stitches around the armhole, knit straight for a while, then start decreasing to the cuff. That would make very bunchy underarms, so I'm going to attempt short-row sleeve caps. After I see yours come out ok.

I was wondering where you've been!
Umm - nice tutu? :P

i have a lot of friends who are in anthropology and archaeology... some of them have even appeared on the dreaded NG... and they've been referring to it as NatGeo for ages! however it's common for those in academia to make up nicknames and stuff for everything... suppose they're too busy not writing their thesis papers.
it was kind of funny when the nickname transferred from something the 'kids' called it to a self-proclaimed name though... NatGeo's only cool when the kids studying the auditory structures of south american primates say it... :)

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
SCHMOO that costume is hilarious. I can't stop looking at it!!!!!
Sorry you are sick. It took me 3 weeks to get over mine. NOT FUN. Want to see you soon!

Carolyn does indeed have very good hair. Feel better!

My DH got a credit card from the former Washington Mutual bank. It just says WaMu now. Not trust-inspiring.

blog away, i have been missing you in the bloglines line-up. weird that you are doing the drops cardi. i saw it for the first time at a knit night not too long away and i tried it on and loved the fit. it is one sweater i think i might knit and wear! cannot wait to see yours.
Posted by mamie | January 7, 2008 10:32 PM
I am SO glad that someone else finds the Nat Geo thing noteworthy. I find it completely silly, like they are trying to be cool or something and it kind of makes me snicker. I like you just the way you are, National Geographic channel...no need to try to change your image!
Also, we like hearing from you even when your post doesn't follow your rules! Love the halloween costume.
Posted by serafina | January 7, 2008 10:29 PM
The Nat Geo thing drives me INSANE! You can't just give yourself a nickname, National Geographic. It makes you look like a big dork trying to look cool.
Posted by bunchkin | January 7, 2008 10:25 PM
NatGeo RAWKS.
And so does that costume: SUMO BALLERINA.
Poor sicky. Feel better!
