Surreal
I'm getting married tomorrow afternoon!
Yesterday was a crazy blur - I ran a bunch of errands like getting gifts and getting my nails done and dropping off things and picking up things. HEJ came along to help and keep me focused on the task at hand. (She's really good at that kind of thing. And also lists. She's good at lists.)
I've been pretty overwhelmed this week with the things that still needed to be done - after a year and a half of planning, I thought that this week would be relaxing! Everything would be done! and the Pants and I could relax on the couch and gaze into each other's eyes in a state of pre-wedded bliss. Ha. And then tiny elves would come clean my house. Har. Wrong. And that's okay. It took me a few days to figure that out, but now I know.
Here's my manicure.

That's about all I've got for pictures. I'll have LOTS and LOTS of pictures to show in about a week and a half. I leave on Sunday for Costa Rica, where Jacob and I can relax and gaze into each other's eyes in a state of wedded bliss. Hee.
I can't believe it's here, and I'm freakin' excited. WEDDING WEDDING WEDDING. The stress has been overwhelming, but as long as me and Jacob are married at the end of the day, everything else is just icing on the delicious three-tiered cake.

Y'all have a good week! And send me good weather vibes. And non-Bridezilla vibes.

Just want to send you my heartiest congrats! And I wish you two a wonderful life filled with love and togetherness. Enjoy Costa Rica!

Enjoy Costa Rica,
Hope you are landing at the airport not in San Jose, as the roads are wickedly awful after the rain. But be happy, it has not rained in a week :)

Nice Manicure! Yeah, that last week is a crazy blur, to the point where you want it 'over with already'. Now it's all over, come the next week you'll have this nagging feeling that you should be doing something, but then remember, all you have to do is relax and enjoy each other. Happy Honeymoon to ya!

You've got it absolutely right -- at the end of the day, the goal is to be married. Everything else is a bonus. Also? If anything goes wrong (and trust me when I say this), NO ONE WILL KNOW BUT YOU!
ENJOY YOURSELVES and have a great time on the honeymoon!
Posted by Sarah | October 19, 2007 5:30 PM
I remember that I felt overwhelmed the week or two before I got married, but on the actual day I was more relaxed - it became a que sera sera sort of attitude. I am crossing my fingers for your weather. All the best!

Congratulations, Carrie! I've been reading your blog for a while, but this is my first post here. I'm excited for you. Remember to drink plenty of water before you put on your wedding dress. You need to be hydrated to ward off headaches and stuff, but don't drink too much 'cause it's hard to go pee in those things. Have a great honeymoon.

Congratulations, Carrie and the Pants! You make a great-looking couple, and I am sending good vibes from Ontario. Enjoy your special day, let nothing faze you! I've been reading your blog for a long while now, we always seem to be working on the same project around the same time. Except for getting married! 23 yrs last month to my high school sweetheart. "as long as me and Jacob are married at the end of the day, everything else is just icing on the delicious three-tiered cake"
EXACTLY. Just keep that in mind and everything will be fine. You look fabulous, nails and all! Have a fabulous day and a wonderful honeymoon.

Remember one thing your wedding day is your day, don't let things make you crazy. On Sunday you will wake up and say "Oh shit, that went fast" and then you start the rest of your life.
Best wishes

I'm sure it'll all go super well... and the best thing about big events like this? If you miss a tiny detail, you're going to be the only one who notices... no one else will ever know.
Unless you forget the ring. Like I almost did.
Phew.

My wedding day wish for you is blissful ignorance... that is, that your bridesmaids, family and friends will be as successful as mine were at concealing and fixing all of the little mishaps that I would have totally freaked out about, had I known. When they told me about some of them years later, I could laugh!
Try and remember every second, and most of all - have fun. You're the new Mrs. Pants!

Hi Carrie. This is the first time I've posted to your site (I've been a faithful reader for a year now). I just want to send along my best wishes. I agree with that Carrie said about not worrying about crazy weird stuff happening. When my husband & I got married (just last July) it rained & we had to move inside, the air conditioning did not work & the power went out. When we were having our first dance (In My Life by the Beatles) by candlelight and acoustic guitar the power magically flicked back on right at the end of the song. Wonderful memories were made from all the crazy mishaps. I wish you & Jacob much happiness for the rest of your lives.

Eeee! I'm sure you're going through an "oh my god it's really happening!" phase. Or a "it's finally christmas!!" feeling?

Congratulations!
Like you need more advice...but here's a bit anyways...every once in a while, stop and absorb. A lot of people have blur wedding days, where everything was so busy and went so fast it's just a blur...stop and breathe and take everything in once in a while.
Have fun!

May your wedding be as relaxing and non-stress-filled as mine was! (I had a great time at mine.)

Congrats and have a wonderful day tomorrow. I love that you're so excited. I remember being SO excited about getting married, not nervous or scared, just SO excited and we just had so much fun that day. Now, 26 yrs later, well, I obviously wasn't scared or nervous because we knew we were the right ones. I wish that for you, too.... many many years of happiness!

A piece of advice that was given to me before my wedding, and it was the best advice I got. Take a second when you get up to the front of the aisle and remember all your senses. What sounds you hear, what it smells like, what you feel (your flowers in your hand, your dress) and what you see. No one will notice that you have taken the pause, but you will remember it for the rest of your life. I still remember exactly what the flowers smelled like and the sound of the waves in the background. You will appreciate it in later years!
Have a fantastic time!
Posted by Dani | October 19, 2007 10:42 AM
congrats! Good luck! Great weather! calm vibes and all the rest!!! can't wait to see all the pictures when you get back
Posted by Nubiancraftster | October 19, 2007 10:41 AM
Just remember - if it goes off perfectly, you get a perfect wedding. If a bunch of crazy weird stuff happens, you have funny stories for a lifetime. AND you'll still be Mrs. Pants.
Posted by Carrie | October 19, 2007 10:39 AM
be sure to sit back and enjoy it! it only happens once :) and also be sure to have a snickers bar and some soda on hand for the day of. those and a smoothie are the only reason i made it through my wedding alive.. what with all the sickness the night before. nerves are a terrible thing! :) hehehehe
Posted by gleek | October 19, 2007 10:34 AM
Have a wonderful day. Congrats to both of you!
Posted by RC | October 19, 2007 10:28 AM
Yay, wedding! I second what Cecilia said -- there are little things that will inevitably go wrong, but if you can't do anything about it, just "go with it" and probably nobody but your mom will even know! :D
(example: when my flowers were delivered, they were the wrong color!! But they looked fine to everyone but me. Also, the heat made the grooms cake melt, but it still tasted fantastic).
Posted by chris | October 19, 2007 10:25 AM
Have a great wedding & honeymoon! Congrats & best wishes! Even if something goes wrong, as long as you're together, none of it matters. :)

Posted by Kat | October 19, 2007 10:14 AM
