Time
I can't believe it's almost the end of August. Time is flying around here - my wedding is in less than 2 months, I've been at my new job for almost 3 weeks, and our air conditioning has been broken for exactly 2 hours. Two sweaty hours. Dear Lord. This weather is CRAZY. Twice this week, I got in my car at the end of the day and my temperature gauge said 108. I've lived in Georgia my whole life, and this is the hottest summer we've ever had.
Did I mention that our air. conditioning. is not. working?
So, I'm sitting here with a very hot laptop on my lap, under a ceiling fan, thinking about knitting, but it's almost too hot to knit. I was working on a lovely camisole from Knitting Lingerie Style - but it makes me hot just to think about knitting with a wool alpaca blend right now. So, I've been working mostly on my never-ending Chevron Scarf:

I've decided to just knit it until I have the yarn runs out. I'm using two skeins of Socks That Rock, alternating the skeins every two rows...like probably a million other Chevron scarves that you've seen in KnitBlogLand. I was inspired by Dogged Knits Ashley and Domesticat. I'm too hot to link (edited to add: AC at work = adding links in the morning.) SO HOT. I'm a hot, lazy blogger.

This is gonna be a super long, pretty scarf, if I can persevere to the end of the skeins.
Sorry I'm Grumpy Complainypants. The temperature hasn't been below 100 in days. Weeks. I've just been working hard at the new job and working on wedding stuff. Invitations have gone out, and we've even been working on the centerpieces...

This is what we have to wear to work on centerpieces.
We are so serious about centerpieces.
I even got a veil. Not gonna post a picture of that because the Pants is not to be trusted. (the Pants are not to be trusted? Hee.)
So. how's that for a lame catch-up post? I miss blogging frequently. I need to make more time in my schedule for it. I can't complain too much though - my busy schedule is mostly due to a job I love and an upcoming wedding. Things are good.

I'm a tad sweaty, but I can still smile in pictures.

According to my own investigation, millions of people in the world get the business loans from different creditors. Thence, there is a good possibility to receive a auto loan in all countries.

All people deserve very good life and loan or just secured loan would make it better. Just because freedom is based on money state.

What are you using to make your centerpieces? Toxic Waste? Cactus? Recycled car parts? Too intriguing.

It's the ordeal before the reward. You will have a glorious, perfect wedding if you survive the heat. (EXCELLENT choice of a wedding month, btw.)

the weather y'all been having down south sounds horrifying! my boyfriend who's born and raised in ATL accuses me of being a Yankee sissy everytime I complain about temperatures going up in the 90s up here in NYC. Now I'm starting to think I really am. Glad to hear your AC is working again! :D
and lovely color choices for your scarf. look forward to seeing the FO.

OMG, I would DIE without AC. Good luck with that ;)

OH SCHMOO! Is the AC fixed yet??? So sorry. Grrr. Stay cool!

100+ eh? That sounds interesting, especially to someone checking availability of Petco and WholeFoods in Athens, Georgia (neither seems to be there. Bummer! I must learn to live without them). Sorry about the broken a/c, though. Hope it recovers soon!

You may want to consider some cooler scarves.
I was going to give you some links to find these, but my comment was rejected when I looked like I was advertising something.
If you want to make them, just google for: make cooler scarf
If you want to buy some, just google: cooler scarf
We don't have air conditioning, and when it got very hot last year, the scarves my mom sent us were my best friends.

You may want to consider some cooler scarves.
Here's how to make them:

Here's where to buy them:

(not vouching for these sites... just the results of random googling of cooler scarf)

It's good to hear someone who is from here complain about the heat. I moved to Atlanta the very day the heat wave started. The only thing still keeping me from just packing up and abandoning my job is the AC.

how's the new job going? are you happy and feeling like you know what you're doing? :) good luck with the serious centerpieces, and be careful! :) at least you don't have to make yours the day before the wedding, and then end up with no help (like me) :P hehehehe best of luck on the wedding, the job, the scarf, and the AC!!! :)

I'm so sorry about your air conditioner. We have one for the first time since we've lived in LA and I don't know how we ever got by without it. I hope it gets fixed soon!!!
The centerpiece photo is hilarious. Go Pants!

You got me so curious about the centerpieces. Love the never ending scarf

108?! Damn. I can imagine you're just melting...
Those are some serious centerpieces!!

Hey, Hot Lazy!
I laughed out loud at your serious centrepiece picture! Can't wait to see them.
Your scarf colours are really beautiful! I have to get my hands on some of this STR.

i hope the air conditioner's been fixed by now. i know all about 100-degree temperatures (we had a month of them last summer, though this year's way milder), but i haven't experienced them very much in combination with georgia's insane humidity. i can only imagine.

Hee. I remember when my wedding was over. I looked around and thought, man I've got a lot of time on my hands again! For a second, I didn't know what to do. Then I remembered I knit and there's probably a great sale going on down at the LYS. Remember to take some time for yourself between now and then!
Also, the STR colorways you are using are very pretty. Can't wait to see the FO!

The heat is RIDICULOUS. Our AC broke a few months ago and we had none for a week. I am amazed that I survived...and that was before it was as hot as it is now. I would not do well having a job where I had to work outside or break a sweat. I fully admit I am spoiled rotten by the wonders of AC. I hope you are staying nice and cool and that you get your fixed soonsoonsoon.
The Chevron Scarf is beautiful, the colors look great and the pics make it look so super soft and squishy.

Maybe I could send you my AC. I haven't needed it since about Saturday because we are having the coldest August ever in NYC. Since Sunday it's barely been above 70, maybe you stole our warmth. I'm sorry if I'm making you jealous. Hopefully the ac will come back on soon.

Are your centerpieces made from fireworks or other sorts of explosives? Be careful, Pants!
Good luck with all the wedding stuff. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help!!!

ugh, this global warming thing is for the dogs, no? here it's been chilly and rainy all week and tons of people keep saying "fall is in the air!" when it totally is not. this is due to global warming as well! anyway, enough of my complaining. i'm right there with you!
so excited that your wedding is coming up! i'm looking forward to hearing of more plans :)

I feel for you honey! Heat like that would KILL me. I live for my air conditioner!
Good luck with all the wedding stuff - not long now!

lol, I love your picture, especially the bug on your head! good luck with everything!

those are some serious centerpieces! Your centerpieces are going to put my non-mask-requiring centerpieces to shame!
Lovely chevron, lovely.
I hope the heat breaks soon! Ugh...

Wow, here in Gainesville (FL) we've been sitting at about 95 for the last month. I guess we should be happy. Hope the AC is repaired soon!

But just think about how great it will feel to have all kinds of free time after the wedding! I loved the first few weeks afterwards, it was like I'd forgotten what free time was like.

OMG CENTERPIECES!!!! I can't wait to see them. ALSO omg that really really sucks about the AC... you can come over anytime to my place with the 70 degree AC running 24-7. I am not from Georgia. I like it chilly. Also your scarf looks really good... those are great color choices. Take care hon!!!
Posted by ChattyAli | August 23, 2007 9:20 AM
eek, sorry about the heat! i'm also worthless when the mercury gets too high. i can't wait to see your centerpieces. bought my first wedding magazine last week. eek, again!

When you're planning a wedding you automatically have a pass to drop blogging if you need to! I definitely want to see these centerpieces that require so much protective gear.
Here's hoping your AC comes back to life!
Posted by Sarah | August 23, 2007 7:47 AM
That sounds atrocious, and I mean it. I cannot function if the heat and humidity puts things above 30 deg C (86 F?). Above 100F (certainly not seen in the Maritimes, but in Southern Ontario, sometimes)? I think my insides actually start to simmer a bit.
We are having the opposite problem around here - but I think I'd rather put on a sweater than sweat.
Hope it breaks soon.

Hi! So sorry about your lack of AC. We have had very unseasonably cool weather here. It was in the 60's yesterday. They said it hasn't been that cold in August here since 1911. BTW, I am Michelle from The Knitting Nook. :) I just had to move.
Posted by Michelle | August 23, 2007 6:27 AM
Ice, ice, ice, ice. Frost, frost, frost. Snow, snow. Mint chocolate chip.
Hope that helps!

Aw man, sorry to hear about your a/c. If ours ever broke, I would probably die. Seriously. It's been super hot here too, but I just keep thinking - September's almost here! The chevron scarf is lovely - but I feel your pain - mine seemed to take forever too. The results are worth it, though...
Posted by Elizabeth | August 23, 2007 12:50 AM
PS I love your Chevron colors.

My air conditioning was broken for a day this summer. I dragged it back to Sears and was more assertive about getting it fixed than I ever have been about any customer service issue in my life. Because it was HOT. I hope yours is fixed soon (or that the man at Sears is scared of you and your sweaty yelly ways and gives you a new one for free).

Hi there, I've been enjoying your blog for a while, but this is my first comment! I'm so sorry about the heat, ugh! Don't get mad, but I live in San Francisco and it's only in the low 70's today. I get grouchy when it gets to 80, so I can't imagine..... Good luck on all your wedding preparations, and good luck on the air conditioning!
Posted by terri | August 22, 2007 11:07 PM
My worst nightmare is that our air conditioner will break. The remote is already broken and we can't change the temperature but I don't care. I'm not touching that damn thing until the weather cools down. Tokyo has been in the high 90s for the past three weeks. Not so good when you are heavily pregnant. BTW, I'm knitting the chevron scarf too....it grows so slowly!!! I can't believe your wedding is now just around the corner - very exciting!!
