hihihi.

Hi there. My name is Carrieoke. I used to do things like spend time with my schmoos and play on the internet and comment on blogs and knit and sleep and exercise, and maybe sew. Now I do this: workschoolworkschoolworkschool. sleep. eat. repeat.

I thought I would take two summer classes to free up my fall semester, since I'm getting married in the fall. BAD IDEA JEANS. I mean, I'm surviving. And the classes are actually quite enjoyable and I'm learning a lot and all that. I'm just tired. and busy. and tired. sigh.

but. I got to buy a new USB fancypants headset with microphone, because my classes are online. LOOK HOW MUCH FUN IT IS.

best. headset. ever.
jealous?I know you are.
and also, can I take your order?

okay! hi there! so much has been going on! I don't even know where to begin. ooh, I know - we moved my dad back to Georgia. We'd been missing him, and he'd been missing us (or really he'd been missing his grandson, BigHeadSchmoo, and who can blame him?) and it was the right time, so my sisters found him a great apartment, and we drove on up to North Carolina and packed him up and now he's here! yay Dad.

dad
Dad says hi.

Also, my band played at Athfest last weekend, which is like a big fun Athens music festival that happens annually. It was the best show we've played in a long time. There were tons of people there, and the guys in my band may have made three million dollars in fake money with our faces on it and thrown huge wads of the money into the crowd while screaming "Make it rain!" Maybe.

that's how I roll
I know. They are totally insane.

It was fun times.

I'm still knitting away on my sockapaloooza sock number two. I finished sock one, and it is lovely. My first sock with both a short row heel and toe, and I'm pretty happy with the result. I can see why some folks don't so much like the short heel - but I'm totally converted to a short row toe. It's beautiful.

sockapalooza, sock one.
Number One, you're the best!

Anywho. After July 3, I'll have a little less on my plate, and hopefully more time for my schmoos and knitting and exercise. In that order. Hope your summer is lovely and peaceful.

Some time ago, I did need to buy a house for my corporation but I did not earn enough money and could not purchase anything. Thank goodness my fellow suggested to take the loan at trustworthy bank. So, I did so and used to be happy with my short term loan.

YOUR DAD is the cutest schmoo ever. I love that picture.

And also I would like to have the combo meal.

Oh, combo meals. How I miss thee. And Hohos.

Well, I had a lot to get off my chest but it looks like Artificial God (see comment below) really said it all for me.

In any case, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Have fun!

Wow!! I hope it calms down for you soon - but you still seem to be having fun and that's what's important.

Hey Carrie! I hear you re the busy schedule. Don't worry: We'll be here when you're able to post. Miss ya! :-)

Phew, my head is spinning just reading about all the things you have going on. I like the order in which you choose to do things - me too: kids/hubby, knitting followed by exercise.

I LOVE the pic of you in the headset. And that money idea is brilliant. Very creative :)

The sock looks great. I remember when school took up most of my time. I remind myself that every now and then when I think I might want to go back. LOL

Hi! Love your short-row sock...I'm getting my game on to try one myself! May I ask which pattern/version you used?

Thanks!

I totally know what you mean by schoolschoolschool... I too am in graduate school and I too feel like there is not enough hours in a day. Good luck

First - thanks for the capelet compliment! I really enjoyed knitting it (Ilga Leja is a genius).

I've been lurking on your blog for years. Sorry for the lack of commenting.

Your Dad is the cutest! He looks like a nice guy, he has that face, you know? You can just tell that he's awesome.

I love a short-row heel.

It cracks me up that you are sporting Freemason bling.

OMG, the money is hilarous!! Love it. Take care!

Hi Carrie! Hang in there through the summer classes. You'll be happy that you did it when it's all finished. Glad to see that you're still alive and knitting!

BLT. Miss you!

I'll have a small Coke and large fries, please.

i recently tried knitting short row heels a couple of times. i'm kinda meh about them myself.

but your socks looks FABULOUS! love the striping.

Yay Short Rows!
Neat socks. Been missin' your blog! Good luck with the workschoolworkschoolworkschoolsleepeatrepeat thing!

The use of "Bad Idea Jeans" is the best thing I've read all week--hands down!

Nifty headset there! And yay for your dad now living a bit closer to all of you. =)

I just wanted to say that I really miss you now that you're in school! You're my favorite knitting blog and the only one I check several times a week!

I sure hope that when you finish school you get a great job where you make a lot of money and work only a few hours so you can blog and knit and blog and knit All. The. Time!!! (Oh, and sing, of course! :)

~Sophia (a lurker until now)

Yay Bling! You should make a dress out of that money to wear at your next gig.

Dude, you can go download skype and call me now that you have a fancy headset. It's free, so do it. Do it now.

Also, yay for summer classes being almost over! When I get back I want you to take me to the Ramsay gym with you. So I don't have to go by myself and get all scared and weird when I can't find the locker rooms or something.

So I'm flipping through my copy of Knitscene (Fall 07) and who do I see on page 10? I believe it's Carrieoke! Am I right? If so, you looked adorable!

I struggled and struggled with all types of heels (I HATE gussets!) until I found Lucy Neatby's short row garter stitch heel. I luv, luv, luv it!
It is fast, cushy, no purling and no gaps. Check it out!

your hilarious! and your dad is adorable.
p.s. can you tell me where the dressing rooms are?

glad your dad is coming back to georgia! that must be so nice for you. and the classes might be overwhelming now, but you made the right choice, totally. try to make time for a little fun!

Hang in there. I just went through your kind of craziness and there is sanity lurking on the horizon.

Fabulous first sock -- stripey goodness all around!

Yipes. I remember taking two summer classes in grad school while teaching, and it was crazy! So I feel for you. Your sock is looking lovely - I seem to be pathologically incapable of making a short-row heel that doesn't look pooey. So good job! :)

Summer classes always seem like a good idea until you actually have to do them. They're so intense! But they ARE a good idea for the time they save you later.

Hope the next week goes fast!

Yay for July 3rd, we miss you around here! Jason decided to take two summer classes this summer, too, so his life is about to get really crazy...what with the sleep deprived nights and two nights a week of class. We feel your pain around here.

Great update. Welcome back online, I missed you. Yay for Dads. I have a Dad just like that...so adorable. Good luck with all the stuff and enjoy the knitting therapy.

Your dad looks so happy, it made me cry in a good way.

hang in there, carrie. it sounds like it won't be long before things calm down.
