Dog Fight. The Second.
So, our dogs got into it again. Both dogs are fine - albeit a little scratched up. Gah. and also Sigh. Bella has been trying to get at her wounds, and consequently, she has to wear this:

Bella is mad.
(sorry for the psychedelic black and white, but the lighting was bad and I wanted you to see her face.)
The vet recommended putting a t-shirt on her. I promise I didn't do that for my own amusement. Although we did giggle. A lot. Poor schmoo.
I'm not going to talk about the doggy situation because I'm sad and it's lame and that's that. Harumph.
I will talk about socks instead.
Stripey socks for my sock pal! The Fiber Denn yarn is turning out fabulously. I lovelovelove the stripes...

Green + black = STRIPEY FUN TIMES.
I'm actually even further than this now. What do y'all think is a good length for socks (from the ankle up, I mean?) I can't decide. I'm about 10 stripes up the leg right now. I love these socks! I might be a toe-up convert, for real. And the fun thing about this yarn is the striping looks so nice that it's almost *better* with a plain old sock.
The sock also went to band practice with me on Monday:

Rock out with your sock out. Har.
My band is playing at Athfest next weekend, so we decided that a practice was in order. (The Bling Boyz do not have any sort of organized practice situation. Bless their hearts.) I discovered that the leg of a purely stockinette toe-up sock is the BEST practice knitting ever. I might have to knit on stage.

If I knit on stage, I will hopefully look much cuter than this.
In other news: I'm taking two summer classes, and they are keeping me busy. I'm taking two this summer in hopes that I can only take one in the fall (or maybe none) when I'm about to get married. We'll see how it goes...

That is one furious-looking schmoo!

Hey Carrie,
I used to read your blog all the time and for some reason just stopped NOT ON PURPOSE! So, I ran across you again today and looked at your 100 things and your FOs and was amazed. I think maybe I'm your triplet or something. Um, not in looks, but I was also a DJ in college and the whole fostering dog thing is right up my alley (just got a new puppy 2 days ago). We also are knitting a few of the same things. Okay, bye! Not stalking! :-))

Oh Bella!! (I am not laughing at you... okay, I am. haha)

That is one really cool sock. Wish I could come and see you at Athfest--I'm in GA right now, but am leaving tomorrow! Bummer, it would have been awesome to see you knit on stage. ;)

Hey Carrie! This the English department graduation gate-crasher again! I am writing for a favor (again!). I started to make a cute little baby blanket from the 2007 Knitting calendar by Paula Lane and friends but have lost the pattern. The pattern is made up of cute little kite blocks and comes from February 22 (I think). Is there any chance that you have this calendar? Do you know anyone who does who might email the scanned pattern? I am about half way done but don't remember how to make the little kites!
Lesson? Don't leave your knitting in your husband's car! Thanks
Janice

Such a sad face. I can not wait to see the Knitscene photos.

I am totally a cat person, but that is the cutest dog picture I've ever seen. Hilarious.
Oh, and your sock rocks, too!!
Smiles,
Erin

She's a cutie in the T-shirt. Lovely stripey socks.

My bunnies have nasty fights like that, someone always ends up bleeding and it's traumatic for everyone involved. I totally feel your pain. But while Bella looks a little embarrassed in her fancy human shirt, she's also super cute.
And you should absolutely knit on stage. Maybe during a slow song, if you do one. It would be hilarious and cool.
Oh, jeez. Maybe this is too easy, but you could totally knit during a cover of "The Sweater Song!"

Bella is a picture - made me laugh! Totally knit on stage!

Sorry to hear about the doggie fight. As for the t-shirt, I had to laugh. When I was a child (so many years ago)in Scotland our black lab used to get terrible colds in the winter and my mother would make her wear a cardigan, front legs in the arms and it buttoned down her underside. When we would take her for a walk people must have thought we were insane, especially as my mother knitted my sister and I the same colour cardi as the dog.

So sorry about the dog troubles—we have 'em here sometimes too when one or the other isn't feeling so great (or something...who knows what dogs are thinking). Your sock is so great it makes me want to try to knit one myself, something I swore I'd never do. Uh-oh. Will quilting be next?
Good luck with the classes this summer. At least they'll be a/c'd.

Hey, I work for a vet, have you ever heard of D.A.P. Diffusers? Stands for dog-appeasing-pheromone. Might help chill them out, you can find them at vets or pet supply stores, kinda pricey but, worth a try...

lOVE THE SOCK and the yarn - hmmmmm short row heels don't exactly distribute the stripes as well as a heel flap BUT the fit is FAB. I'm short so I don't do my socks too tall - probably 3-4 inches tops. You know me, I could have lots of opinions on the doggie probs. The t-shirt is actually kinda sweet looking to me - just the fact that she'll sit in it for a picture is proof she doesn't hate it totally. My Molly would fuss until she stroked trying to get out of one!!
You should knit during a gig - just to prove you can!!

Okay, I just emailed you asking about summer classes before I read your blog. So, nevermind.
About the dogs: I'm so sorry you guys are having such a rough time with the schmoos. I wish I could bring Chili home with me but we're not the right family for any dog, sadly, no matter how sweet and cute she is.

Poor baby! As for the socks, I love them. I haven't done a toe-up or 2 circs. Have fun at the show!

Oh geez, that face she's making is priceless! Misery can be so cute!
My guy is a hardstyle/ EDM dj, I've actually knit in the back corner of the stage while he spun at loud, crazy, rave-style concerts. Haha, the most unlikely combo ever!

So sorry to hear about the dogs fighting! Are they 2 girl dogs? Bitch battles are the absolute worst. Been there, done that, paid the vet bills. :(
Good luck and best wishes...

the sock looks great! you sure have one lucky sock pal. i usually make my sock legs about 6-7 inches, any more than that and you might need to start thinking about shaping for the calf.

Hi, I can't close my tags.

Oh, dogs. Oh, Bella. She looks like the most indignant, sad little dog ever. Poor baby. If you feel like going homeopathic and if your vet thinks it's ok, neem oil totally kept Bailey from licking her hotspot--might help with the scratches too (it's antibacterial). You will perish from the smell, but at least she won't have to wear a t-shirt.
Re: the sock, I always think that an inch longer than the foot is a good minimum leg length.

Bella is so hating that tee! How cute it the picture though. Me thinks you need that adorable Dog Whisperer dude.
Sockie is cute! You're rocking those school girl stripes.

Have you seen the new Knit Scene? Quick, get a copy. Turn to page 10, and right there is your
picture in your great purple sweater. It is the
See It section and you, AM, and Darilee are pictured.

Oh bella schmoo, she is so cute in her t-shirt. I think knitting on stage at a Bling concert is an act of performance art and you should TOTALLY DO IT. Very David Byrne and Laurie Anderson. :)

I love the stripey socks. Great colors!
Bella looks adorable in the t-shirt.

Sorry to hear about Bella. Dogs are amazingly strong and forgiving. Hopefully this is there last tussle.
Striping sock yarn does look great just knit. Your pal will love 'em.
Posted by Cecilia | June 13, 2007 6:25 PM
Poor Bella :( Maybe she'll discover her own sense of style and try out different colours?!
Posted by AmyP | June 13, 2007 5:57 PM
awww... but she looks so cute in that shirt!
