Stormy Weather
ick. the weather today is gross: there's lots of wind and rain and lightning and thunder. I hate weather like this - mostly because the conditions are right for a tornado. I am v. scared of tornadoes, perhaps in an irrational way since we don't really get them very often here. The dogs refused to go out this morning - Bella hid under the bed and Chili hid upstairs. I just let them be - who can blame them?
My trip to the bead store last week was a success! Unfortunately, they are planning to close or sell the place soon - I hope someone buys it, because they've got some really fun stuff in there. There wasn't a huge button selection, but what they had was really unique. I decided to go vintage on my Forecast:

I chose ten vintage black buttons that similar in size and look.
I think I might have one repeat in there.
Here's another look:

I've taken over the kitchen table.
Now, I have to actually finish the sleeve and sew the buttons on. That's ALL that's left. Why am I dragging my feet?
Because I can't stay away from these other temptations:

Getting there.
The Anemois are just so much fun. And the chart keeper has seriously changed my life. I know I keep talking about it, but if you don't have one, it's worth every penny.
And, I may have accidentally started another project -- just a little one --

Trellis. And my purple pajama pants.
I was searching online for yarn substitutions for Trellis, and I found this beauty on Flickr. Isn't it gorgeous? The cables really pop in Shine, so I decided to get some for my nephew's Trellis. This is the gauge sleeve. Err, gauge swatch. Har.
Well, gotta go eat lunch. I ordered in today because I didn't want to brave the rain. I am a wimp.

*laugh* Accidentally started? That's funny. I love finishing (I know I'm weird). Once I complete the last knitting on a project, I won't go to bed until ends are woven in and it's blocked - even if it's already 3am on a weeknight and I have to get up at 6:45. Once it's dry, I won't go to bed until it's seamed/steeked what not. People at work can always tell when I'm nearly finished a project because I get rather zombie-like and drink a lot of pop (the Minnesota word for soda). I'm getting fairly close on my Dale of Norway Sapporo I have been working on.

Gorgeous, inspiring knits! For the record, I didn't steal your idea for the fabulous buttons. I got the clear ones at the same bead store moments before you got your pretty black ones, in hopes that I can use them on Central Park Hoodie (idea stolen from you), which I'm making with frogged yarn from my failed Tubey (idea stolen from you). Maybe I should set them all aside until I finish Ms. Marigold (idea stolen from you). Guess I should just go ahead and cast on Forecast next :-) She is a thing of beauty!

i LOVE the sweater! fancy teamie.

I have heard of knitting the sleeve as the gauge swap but have never done this. Has it worked out for you in the past or do you find that you have to "FROG" a lot of your work?

I really enjoyed looking at all your projects. I tend to make very simplepatterns over and over. I wish I had the brave spirit you have to raise the bar.
Your nephew's sweater is going to be beautiful.

I love your buttons for the Forecast! Too cool.
We got a bit of that scary weather here in Tennessee, but nothing like Alabama and you guys in Georgia. Hope everything is okay where you are.
Also, that is a pic of the Trellis I knit - and I wanted to thank you for your compliment! :) I was really happy with the way Shine knit up, the cables really do pop with it, plus it is nice and soft. It's a bit on the heavier side (I thought), but I am also not used to knitting anything cotton. I'm sure yours will be wonderful - it's such a great pattern!

Ahhhh...a bobble-less Forecast!! I am SO copying you when I get around to knitting one of these for myself! Best. Mod. Ever.

Maybe if the links were not on the pictures?

I can't wait to see your finished Forecast - I just love the color you chose, as well as the buttons. That's a project I've never been quite sure about, but I'm totally captivated by yours. And thanks for the link to that beautiful green Trellis! I totally want to make one now for my niece. I'm sure yours will come out beautifully and I'll look forward to seeing it come together.

You have so much good stuff going right now! Perfect for this horrid weather. I love the buttons you chose.
I'm totally focused on blog templates right now, so while I'm thinking of it, allow me to compliment you on yours.

I didn't know we had tornadoes here on the Gulf Coast until I moved here. I'm like, Seriously? Hurricanes AND tornadoes? Who drew the short end of the stick on that one?
Does The Pants get irritated when you leave your stuff all over the dining room table like when you're not really finished but you're not working on it RIGHT then? Yeah, maybe that's just my anal retentive hubby. I'll reassure him, "But I'm coming back to it...by next month at the latest." Somehow that doesn't seem to make him feel any better.

Hi there - With the recent pics and mention of the "kids", made me wonder if you used the behavior training clinic I told you about ...

So many beautiful things to comment on in this post... I especially love your buttons for Forecast.

Forecast and the Anemois look awesome!
I want to knit Trellis for a friend's baby but I do not think I can do it in 3 weeks!

De-lurking to tell you I love your Forecast. I notice you omitted the bobbles. You may have explained this already, but what type of stitch did you do in their place? It's wonderful!

i always order in when it is too bad (or no fun) to go outside, but i always compensate the delivery person very well for their trouble!
the sweater looks great, i think you picked the perfect buttons!

Glad you're enjoying the chart keeper, it's amazing how fast you can go with it...the mittens look fantastic!

Those buttons on Forecast absolutely make that sweater special. I love how you mixed them up. Can't wait to see it finished.

I'm in Atlanta & I totally agree about how crappy the weather is today. I hate going out on days like this too.
I love the buttons you chose for forecast & those mittens!?!? *Swoon*
I need to knit mittens in march in the south right?!?!

Thanks for the link to that Trellis! That's definitely high on my Knit for Baby list!

Enjoy the weather. In Portland, it only rains. Lightning is so rare that people act like it's the end of the world when a thunderstorm finally comes around.

ha! that's why delivery was invented! for days when going outside is just not an option :)
oooh, i love trellis! i can't wait to see what you do with it.

Forecast looks lovely! I adore those vintage buttons. I want to try Trellis too. Started it once and ripped b/c my yarn choice sucked. I do have some hot pink Shine though...

You are a knitting MACHINE! I wish I knew how to get my knitting mojo back :( lookin' good, girlie!

it's storming here too: it looks like night outside but not tornado-y. i'm scared of tornados because i am CONVINCED that my entire apartment will lift up out of my building and get blown into the suburbs!!!!! :) i feel that way in the bad windstorms that come off the lake (i'm a block from the lake). i don't think apartments on the 8th floor normally just lift off their buildings and fly, but it's possible, right???
the buttons look awesome, that is a seriously stylin' version of that sweater. i mean, it will be. when it's finished. ahem.

Oh, your Forecast is looking so good! And I totally understand the lure of the Anemoi mittens... I made them in a few days over xmas break :)
We were supposed to get rain today, and it's sunny instead, but I still ate at the cafeteria in my building...

I totally condone accidentally starting new projects (always a small thrill), knitting gauge sleeves (hey, babies grow, it's bound to fit sometime!) and ordering in (I think delivery guys take the same oath as the postmen).

I love me a good thunderstorm but once there's a chance of a tornado, forget it, I'm hiding all day. My husband is a weather fanatic (we have weather gadgets all over the damn place) and loves it, as soon as it storms, he's got the camera out trying to get the perfect lightning shot. We're both storm spotters for the National Weather Service. He did it because he loves it. I did it because somebody needs to go along with him and make sure he doesn't drive into a tree.

You are not a wimp for ordering in--you are a smart cookie! It is crazy weather out there. And I can't blame you for the fear of tornadoes--I'm v. scared of tornadoes too.
Very pretty sweater!!!
