Schmoos

Friday Friday Friday. Hooray! It's been a busy week in the school and work arenas, and I am so glad it's Friday. And I've got PLANS this weekend: birthday celebrations tonight for my friend Leslie, birthday celebrations tomorrow for my sister Michelle, a hair appointment (color), possibly a trip to Ikea, and lots of Wii time.

(Now that my nephew is almost 10 months old, it's time for him to play the Wii.)
(Kidding.)

And the Oscars on Sunday! Woo-hoo! In other news:

1. I brought my almost finished Forecast to work today, because I'm planning to go to the bead store at lunch and see if I can find buttons. Hopefully I won't be tempted to buy beading supplies. Ha.

2. I started the second Anemoi mitten, and all of my love for colorwork came rushing back. I think this one looks much better than the first one - I'm more comfortable working with two colors, and my gauge is a little looser. I hope it doesn't look vastly different than Anemoi #1...

Anemoi #2
Swirly goodness.

I'm using my Knitpicks chart holder from the start this time, and it's going so quickly. I can't wait to start working on some Zimmerman Norwegian mittens...

(God, now that I'm looking, there is a glaring mistake in that mitten. I'll need to fix it! But no ripping. I'll deal with it later.)

3. As I knit and watched Grey's Anatomy last night, two of my favorite schmoos dozed on the couch next to me. How cute is that?

Shleepy schmoos.

4. Here's my other favorite schmoo in her favorite spot:

Chili's favorite spot
Chili guards the house from here.

She's a good girl.

I think the Anemoi could be finished by this weekend if it keeps going so quickly. It's destined for someone who lives in a colder place than me, so the sooner I finish, the better. Although since we're starting to have 65-70 degree days here, I imagine that's happening in other places too. (Probably not, right?)

Okay. Back to work. Y'all have a good weekend!

The mittens are really beautiful.

Hi Carrie,
just wanted to drop a note on how much I love your knitting site. I've been teaching my sister how to knit (two left hands :( ) and she actually found your site and has now finished her first scarf! Thank you for your help, she lives 5 hrs away and telephone knitting isn't very effective for her questions when she forgets what i last showed her.

I did notice that I wrap my thread a different way then you do....humm it still looks the same finished. Do you buy your yarn on-line? I'm on a roll right now on making alpaca fingerless gloves (I'm trying to fill the familys orders)
so far plymouth baby alpaca is my favoite and I search e-bay for it.
Thanks again, Joy D. Selma, CA

We're getting about a foot of snow this weekend in Minneapolis - I'd love some mittens :-) They're very, very pretty.

You are such a fast knitter, it's impressive...hope you make it to Ikea and have a giant plate of meatballs w/ that lingonberry sauce!

i knit while watching "grey's" too. what did you think? too weird for my taste ...

Soooooooooo not 65 to 70 in Chicago! We got really excited when it hit 40 this week after two weeks in the negative to single digits range!

Schmoo all your knitting looks so good! Forecast is almost done!!! Proud of your workouts!!!!

Pretty, pretty almost-Anemoi!

That is BEAUTIFUL fair isle work. Man, I'm jealous!

We're having 70 degree weather here in north Florida... But I don't know if that counts.

We love our Wii!!! I'd like to get some Wii time in this weekend :)

Friday is my favorite day because my husband works from home! Yippee!!

Chili matches the color scheme in your hallway/stairs. What a cute face on that schmoo. 65-70 degree days are about 2 months away here in NYC/NJ area. There may be a freak warm day in March, but for the most part it's butt cold up here. All the better for wearing warm handknits!

Speaking of Wii (which I have one of now...yay!!!), lookie here.

Come revel in my geekiness! ; )

And...awww, Chili.

Hey, it's Chili! Did her aggression cool down a bit once she got used to the new house? Last I'd heard, you were trying to find a new home for her.

ooooh, 65 to 70 degree days in february?! i wish! i was just happy that the forecast said it would be above freezing here today :) it's the little things...

your schmoos are so cute. looks like chili has the lay of the land from up there.

Love your anemoi mitts and the colors you chose. I have to add them to my ever growing to-knit list!

Sounds like you have the perfect weekend lined up--enjoy it! :)

steamie teamie.
