Bathroom Mirror.
Thanks for all the nice comments, ya'll. Clearly the really kind and supportive commenters outshadow the nasty anonymous meanies, and I shouldn't have let it get to me. It was just one of those days where I couldn't handle ANY negativity...thanks for letting me explain myself, even though I was preaching to the choir.
And thanks for all the furniture info! We ended up ordering some things from JcPenney's, and we have a trip to Ikea planned for the near future. I'll ltake some pictures when it gets here!
We are so not unpacked, and we're not even totally out of the old place yet - we still have a few odd and ends, a Crossbow, and some cleaning to do. But we're THIS close. Oh yes. We are close. And the new place? It already feels like home. Pictures soon.
One thing I've already discovered about the new house is that my bathroom mirror totally kicks ass for knitting pictures! Check it out:

Central Park. One side seamed up.
It is going to be REALLY hard for me to give this sweater away. I love it so.

Here's a shoulder seam for ya.
Although, I figure my sister deserves it. She deserves it for many reasons, but one reason is this: she's been the (gracious) recipient of a few ill-fitting handknits, and it's time to give her something she can wear FOR REALS. And I'm not being hard on myself - it's actually kind of fun to look back at the sweaters I've given her, and see the progression of my knitting. I like having the visual reminder that I've improved, especially with my seaming skills. I love my shoulder seam.

Gratutitous shoulder seam shot.
Isn't that a nice big old bathroom mirror? I'm so close to finishing this thing - last night, I finished the other sleeve/side seam, and now it's just knitknitknit until the hood is done, do the buttonband, and I'm finished! Do I want to immediately cast on one for myself? YES. Am I going to? hmmmm....

It fits you perfectly! Maybe your sister will let you borrow it?

Love that! My husband was apparently peeking over my shoulder and said "She knitted that?!" He was quite impressed since I haven't graduated to sweaters yet:)
Congrats on the house...it is beautiful:)

Which method did you use for seaming the shoulders? Oh, and love the red yarn - which yarn is it?
Posted by Michele | November 22, 2006 4:52 PM
WOw! I'm late in adding my appreciation...but being stuck on sleeve 2...so inspired...I love it in the red.
Nice seaming on that sleeve...come on up here and help me! :)

Hey Carrie, I love your blog, from all the way in Australia, and I love it that more people than me knit! I wish yarn wasn't so expensive here, but I am still dedicated to my art :) Anyway thought I would let you know I'm also a veterinary nurse and I would FAR rather you rehomed your other dog than deal with shit like that, dogs AND YOU deserve a fun life, that is the point of them. There are some weird ass people out there when it comes to animals. Thanks for a great blog!

That's going to be a beautiful hoodie! What yarn are you using?

Yay for the new house! Can't wait to see more pictures...
I don't know why all the trolls come to you. I think they must be jealous of your beautiful seaming abilities. ;)

Love the sweater...great mirror, too. I don't know what the nasty anonymous people had to say, but I say to them, "PISS OFF!" There...

"Gratuitous shoulder seam shot" is a rather tough tongue twister! Looks gorgeous. I want to make one too!

Your sweater is very cute. I looked at your gallery and I agree that your knitting has progressed. I have knit a few sweaters and they turned out yucky. Your knitting has given me motivation to get back on the horse and try again after a long hiatus of knitting only socks. Thanks!

Just thought I'd say hi as I'm trying to visit and comment on as many of the NaBloPoMo blogs as I can. :)
With those anonymous posters, I wouldn't worry about it too much; it sounds like you're doing the best to make sure that your pets are in the best environment possible. :)

It's weird that I came across your blog via Elizabeth Lenhard's site. I saw a picture of you and you looked so familiar and then I realized that I had your twin (Cathy) as my tech theatre teacher. I remember you came into the classroom one time and I was like omg Ms. Coker is a twin!

Your sweater looks really great! I'm impressed by your seaming skills as well! Yeah, it's always a lot of fun to see your progress via your FOs. I don't think I would ever consider wearing my first sweater, but I'll never get rid of it!
Posted by femiknitter | November 13, 2006 8:30 PM
WOW! I am SO IMPRESSED! (Not that I doubt your knitting ability, it's just that it's just SO professional looking!) Gosh I hope I can do as good a job! (And now I have to make one.)

Your sweater is beautiful! I see your sister can't wait for Christmas.
We have bought some things from Ikea. Just check the boxes before you leave the parking lot to make sure all the pieces are in the boxes.

I get it early, right? I don't have to wait until Christmas, right?

Posted by Michelle | November 13, 2006 5:34 PM
um, crossbow? thought we'd just overlook that one? i've always hated that odds and ends stuff -- give yourself more time than you need because it *always* takes more time than you think.
the sweater -- in your new mirror -- looks lovely.

gorgeous - beautiful cables - great color - lucky sister!
Posted by robin | November 13, 2006 3:36 PM
Your skills are impressive, lady! And all this sweater-finishing you keep doing just inspires me to KNIT! (in theory anyway, I still havent been doing much) I'm glad you're settling in well and I TOTALLY say IKEA! (for good, cheap starter furniture. For real furniture, I once got a dining table and chairs from Pier 1 like 40% off because 1) they were having a 25% off dining sale AND 2) I opened a credit card. YAY!
Posted by Lara | November 13, 2006 2:42 PM
