The Somewhat Cowl is Done.
And here it is!

I love my cowl.
Sorry for the huge pics, but I love this sweater, so I got my resident photographer to take some pictures with his new Canon 30D...

At first, I wasn't sure about the collar, but for me, it just took wearing the right shirt underneath. Nothing with a v-neck, just a round or straight across collar, so you're not distracted from the pretty cowl neck.
I used Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool for this project, and I lovelovelove this yarn! It's fun and easy to knit with, and it looks so beautiful when it's knit up. I think it's going to be a good all-season sweater - I can wear it now with a camisole underneath, and still be comfortable when it's a little bit warm. I'm picturing it with a long sleeved t-shirt or maybe even a crisp white collared shirt when it gets colder...
YAY!
You know the pattern: The Somewhat Cowl by the fabulous Wendy of Knit and Tonic. I used the pattern changes for a slightly more fitted sweater, including shaping on the sides. It's not super fitted, but I like the way it hangs. I have plans to make a few more of Wendy's patterns because they are super wearable and extremely well written.
So, if you're playing Blogger Bingo at Rhinebeck, I'll be rocking my Somewhat Cowl, probably on Saturday. And also Rhinebeck is SO CLOSE! wheeeeeeeeeee. And next on the knitting agenda? Central Park, from the latest Knitscene. Because my twin sister Cathy wants to be just like Rachael.
All right. I've gotta go clean and study and knit. My October is all kinds of crazy. Check out my next three weekends:
October 13: Bling plays Fall for Greenville.
October 20 - 22: Rhinebeck!
October 28 : My 10 year high school reunion. Weird.
And somewhere in there, we're gonna close on a house. And pack. And I'm gonna do some homework. It will all fall into place. Right?

Awesome Sweater! Nice color, and it looks great on you!

That looks great!!! It's a great color too. I am so impressed at how quickly you whip out SWEATERS. Not hats, mitts, socks, baby stuff. You always have great sweaters and FAST. I'm so jealous! I have a 7 week old baby now so it's going to be a while before I tackle a big project, I think! Have fun at Rhinebeck and good luck with the house - it's cute!

Hey nice Somewhat Cowl. I am just finishing the last arm on mine. I tried mine on and will absolutely have to wear a top under it - or possibly get mistaken for a "workin' girl". Nice work!

Pretty cowl! I'm making one for my sister's birthday out of the Silky Wool and I love love love the way it knits up. I just swatched for the Central Park Hoodie today, and as soon as I get some of these socks done, I'll be starting. Yay for cute sweaters! You try and work some rest in between all that busy stuff, we can't have a worn out Carrieoke.
Posted by Sarah | October 8, 2006 2:30 PM
It looks great! I love the color, and I bet it feels just fantastic. This sweater is coming up on my knit list. What size did you make relative to your bust?
It will all fall into place, certainly. It's so so so much fun to move into your very own house, even if stressful. That's what you'll remember later from this frantic time.
