Hi there.
Jacob keeps teasing me because I haven't posted on my blog since returning from Rhinebeck... he keeps saying "I'm checking my Bloglines, where's your post?" Har, har. It's because I haven't had a second to breathe since returning from my relaxing yarny vacation. Work + school + 10 year reunion this weekend + HOUSE CLOSING OCT 30 makes for a crazy Carrieoke. Gah. And also aaaaccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkk.
But also yay. Rhinebeck was wonderful, as expected. And the weather was PERFECT, as in not too cold, not too hot, and the leaves were brilliant, and the company was splendid. I didn't take as many pictures as I normally do because I was totally overwhelmed by peopleyarnnewyorkfuntimes all weekend. But I took a few.

This was at the Point.
We were lucky enough to drop in on a knitting night with the Spiders, and I got to meet some bloggers that I've been reading forever, and also reunite with an old friend. It was really nice and cozy and comfortable. We stopped in after seven hours of shopping in New York City, and although I had a fabulous time shopping, my tired little Georgia legs were ready for a coffee and some knitting. Perfect.

This is a llama. He is chewing.
The animals at Rhinebeck are totally one of my favorite parts. Ya know, after all the yarn. and the people. and the hot sauce.

My girls AM and Sarah. And a sheep.
This is the last picture I took. We had to do a quick drive-by on Sunday, due to extreme paranoia that we would miss our flight (we missed our flight to NY on Friday morning...security was atrocious in Atlanta).
I had a wonderful time, I didn't buy too much [ the haul: a sweater's worth of organic cotton, a triple skein of laceweight Morehouse, a shawl pin, some delectable bulky weight yarn from Decadent Fibersand and a piece of pottery for HEJ. I also got my usual yummyyummy hot sauce from Hudson Valley Homestead ]. AND I got to see old friends and talk to new ones. This picture (shamelessly stolen from Snargle Sarah ) pretty much sums up how much fun I had this weekend.

That's Frecklegirl, Sarah, and Maya in the front.
I'm in the backback. With some leftover ribs.
We even stopped by the Morehouse store which is beautiful and spacious and well-lit and so dangerous. Thank God that place isn't anywhere near Georgia - I would be broke fer sure.
You won't see me at Rhinebeck next year because I'll be getting hitched (woo-hoo!), but I'm going to try my hardest to be at Maryland. I love sheep and wool festivals.
Ah. And back to reality. Central Park is zooming along - I've finished the back and fronts, and now I'm halfway through the first sleeve. And in other news, we are totally grown-up and closing on our house on this coming Monday. I can't even believe it. ohmygod. So I'm a little jittery this week, trying to process everything that is going on, and not be too anxious about it. I'm just accepting that I will probably have explosive diarrhea while we are signing the closing papers, but it will be over soon, and then we have a HOUSEHOUSEHOUSE. House. How cool is that?
Okay. Time for bed. It was real nice to see all ya'll at the festival, for real.

That is the cutest llama ever! I am so jealous of your Rhinebeck trip. Looks like you had tons of fun.

OK, why am I the only one who doesn't know what "Rhinebeck" is? Everyone seems to know what it is and gets to go to this fabulously sounding occasion. I'm so sad I missed it. How do I find out about it? (and other really cool knitting events) I guess I lived in the middle of nowhere for too long (AKA Kansas) Thanks to anyone who can tell me about this! :)

These pictures are great; knitters are so cute! I'm totally laughing at that alpaca photo. I swear he looks like he's saying something. (I nominate the phrase "buy yarn!" Then, when you have to justify all your stash purchases you can say that the alpaca made you do it.)

Dang - missed meeting you on Sunday, I guess. Funny, though...I met that sheep on my way INTO Rhinebeck on Sunday, lol...wasn't it a great costume???

It is way weird to see you in a pic taken in NYC. Now I'm doubly sorry I missed Rhinebeck, it would have been cool to meet you. I stole the 48 things meme from you here's my link.

Yay for Rhinebeck--and old friends! :) It was SO good to see you again--it had been far too long, and we should make it happen more often. I am *hoping* to be at MDSW too.
Good luck with the house and everything--so exciting!

Wanted to thank you and your tall friend *again* for being so gracious when I nearly ran you two over with my daughter's stroller.
The whole experience was overwhelming for little K. We left shortly after nearly running you two down.
No fiber goodies for this momma :(

I am so jealous. Rhinebeck conflicts with an art festival I go to in Alabama every year. I hope to go next year, though. (My friend, who is the Executive Director of that festival, might be mad, but she knits, too, so she'll understand. At least I think she will.) I plan on going to MD again with the knitting niece. She likes the animals, too, especially the rabbits. (I taught her to knit after MD this year and she is keeping it up!) It would be lovely to meet you in person!

Looks like fun! I imagine that the awe at seeing how much you can get out of a skein of Sierra has worn off? :)

Congrats on the house. Man, do i want a house.
I've been thinking about you recently, and I couldn't figure out why. Then it dawned on me. You may be the only person I know that would understand my situation here. My twin sister getting engaged. It's weird. It's almost like *I* am engaged or something. She's going to be married. Weird.

Sounds like a fantastic time! Definitely looks like you had fun anyway. Good luck with the house closing. :)

Rhinebeck looks like so much fun! Ah, maybe next year.
Mainly, I'm just leaving this comment, beacause the picture of the llama and your description cracked me up.
Smiles,
Erin

I'm sooo sad I didn't get to go to Rhinebeck, but sooo so so glad I got to see you guys anyway, even if just for a hot second! I'm SO excited for you and the pants and the house!! YAY HOUSE!

It was great to meet you and your friends at the Point Carrie.
Looks like you had a wonderful time at Rhinebeck - yay! for sheep and wool!

Looks like a great time! I'm determined to make it to at least one of the festivals next year, though MD might be tough because it's only a few weeks before I get hitched myself. Congrats on the house!! Such excitement. (But FYI it sometimes feels more like playing house than actually being a grownup.)

Nice meeting you at Rhinebeck (me in red fur vest). I think everyone hter had a blast. I know I did. Good luck on your house closing. Very stressful, but it all works out. Maybe wear a Depends so you can have the squirts while signing all those papers. Oct. 30 is my b-day so hope it's a lucky day for you!

That last picture is so awful and so hilarious all at the same time. I love the guilty frecklegirl look after she had thrown the ribs in. Fun times! Good luck on the house closing, it will be stressful but so worth it when you get those keys!

Hi Carrie! It was so nice to meet you at The Point. Glad you had fun at Rhinebeck and CONGRATS on your upcoming closing. Hey, good that your man reads your blog ~ mine keeps forgetting that I have one!

It was great meeting you!! Thanks for stopping through the Point and hanging out with us!

Haha, my husband does that too. He'll check to see if I've updated, give a huge, exaggerated sigh and go "I see SOMEONE doesn't believe in POSTING anymore."
I remember closing on our house, I freaked out for a week straight, making sure we had all the papers and stuff and it was so easy. You sign papers for what feels like 3 days, and then you're done! It'll be fine, I promise!

Hey! Looks like you had a blast. Love the friends-heavy photography. Yarn be dammed. Oh, I take it back.
Maybe I'll see you at MDSW! If it's cool enough, and I've finished it (or started it) by then, I plan to wear my Central Park!
Posted by JulieFrick | October 27, 2006 8:42 AM
I was trying to remember this morning when the house closing was because I knew it had to be soon. Good luck with it all!!!
