How Not to Start Your Work Week.
Just in case you were wondering, here's how NOT to start your work week:
Wake up at 5:30 am to crazily barking dogs. Get up, check email, look outside, lock front door, go back to bed.
Wake up at 6:30 am to fiance saying that we've been robbed.
!!!!!!!!
GEEZ.
The assholes took Jacob's camera out of his truck. They rifled through my car as well, but there was nothing of value in the car (and lots of trash to go through, serves them right. Although they did unzip my Travel Scrabble game, I guess to make sure that I wasn't hiding valuables in there???) This has been a general trend in our area lately, so we're not totally surprised, but of course you never think it will happen to you. Luckily, we are fine, the dogs are fine, and our computers were in the house. Harumph.
We have renter's insurance, so at least some of the camera will be covered.
This marks the second time my car's been broken into, and the second? fourth? time the Pants has been robbed. I just hate feeling so vulnerable in my own freakin' house.
Here's how I feel about the whole thing.

Sad. Clown.
Here's where my Somewhat Cowl is.

Almost ready to join.
I'm hoping the sleeves aren't going to be too big. I usually make top down raglans a little too tight, so I tried to compensate this time. I hope I didn't overdo it.
Here's a blurry picture of the show we saw this weekend:

She Wants Revenge at the 40 Watt.
They were awesome. The band that opened for them was also awesome, and has my new favorite band name: I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness. Hee.
That's how I feel this morning. Like choosing darkness. Har. Sorry to be Debbie Downer. Send happy vibes and sunshine and all that...

Well that completely sucks. Glad to hear in your most recent post the camera will be replaced on insurances dime. Renters insurance is a GOOD thing.
When we lived in a bigger city than we are now our car was always getting windows smashed. For what? FUN. Nothing of value was ever left in it and seemingly the perpetrator just did it for kicks if our neighbors vehicles were any indication.
What goes around, comes around. I just have to believe that one..

That's a total Bummer! I remember when I lived in GA at least once a week someone we knew's car got broken into including my roommate who's 85 Chevy Celebrity which was broken into 3 times (once in broad daylight in front of a crowded cafe) in a 2 week span.

that sucks with a capitol S! I'm sorry, I know your car got broken into the last time I saw you and i can't believe that this happened to you too! I am officially sulking for you.

I'm so sorry! I had my purse, briefcase, iPod, cell phone and blackberry stolen out of my car while it was parked in my garage at my house at 6 pm on a Friday night this past November. So trust me, I know how much it sucks and how violated you feel. Eventually, they found the kids who stole the stuff and they were prosecuted. Apparently, the finger printing worked.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope that everything turns out...

So sorry to hear that! I didn't think it was such a rough area out here (not like when I lived in Queens, anyway, when my car was broken into and the car's computer stolen three times in six months), but I guess you can never tell with country people. Will you at least be an item in the ABH police blotter?
Posted by Liana | September 13, 2006 9:14 AM
Boo! Hiss! Not only are you handling the situation beautifully, with all the right priorities, should you ever find the person(s) responsible, I will totally hold them down while you stab them with OOO dps.

Sorry to hear about your bad news. Thank goodness that they didn't get the z,x,q, j or blank letters!

dude, that SUCKS. I'm glad insurance will cover a good part of it though. Cameras can be MAD expensive!!! :(
Hey, maybe 17 straight hours of Justin Timberlake can help!?!?! Check out http://justin995.com (my radio station's new website for today (the 12th) ;)

That sucks. So glad you're all okay and that you have renter's insurance. Hope today was a lot better for you.

:( i'm sorry sorry someone violated your space. karma will surely bite them in the ASS. :(
definitely not a way to start your week.

Oh, BOOOOO! Dang thieves. It seems a trend that they keep hitting the same cars (happened to me in Chicago)...not sure what their logic is, but dang, is that unpleasant. Big sunshine vibes and happy thoughts (though I do like "I Love You but I've Chosen Darkness" as a name too!). Take care of you!!
Posted by giao | September 12, 2006 12:23 PM
ugh that sucks! but your new sweater looks cute so far, not that it's any consolation.

BASTARDS
We can only hope that Karma bites them in the ass and they have some horrible mutation grow out of their bodies. Call your auto insurance company too, that is who I had to use when my car was broken into on vaction. They paid nicely!

I'm sooo sorry to hear about the robbery. I had something similar happen - someone threw a brick into my car right outside my front door (there was a site undergoing construction on the other end of our condo complex with tons of bricks all over the ground). They took my summer reading bag and got away with a copy of the Monkey Wrench Gang and a hair brush.
Hopefully it was just the camera and not all the stuff that goes with it, the stuff that costs a small fortune.

How crappy! Hope your week gets better from here!

So sorry to hear about the robbery! Shame on those piss-poor excuses for Georgians!
But I know where that pic was taken! Good looking sweater!
Posted by Anita | September 11, 2006 7:36 PM
That really stinks! Isn't it awful when you can't leave anything of value in your car? We live out in the country so far away from the road people don't usually come down the driveway. But every so often I'll lock my truck at night, just because.
Posted by Jane (crzjane) | September 11, 2006 6:58 PM
ugh. that sucks. i've been robbed and it's totally violating. it's made me slightly paranoid about checking locks. damn jerks.
oh and i totally love the band i love you but i've chosen darkness. i only discovered them about a month ago and i'm totally hooked.
Posted by melissa | September 11, 2006 5:29 PM
Sucky. My (then) boyfriend, (now) husband had both his car and bike stolen months apart. My brother has had two cars stolen. I've had some really elaborate, heavy (over 100 lbs. each) multi-tier planters stolen from my porch. I hate a**holes who believe they are more entitled to the things you paid for than you are! Grr. Hope things look up soon.
Posted by Angela | September 11, 2006 5:13 PM
oh that totally sucks! my car was broken into three weeks ago and my radio was stolen, so i understand how violated you feel. tell the pants not to keep valuables in there anymore!
Posted by carrie m | September 11, 2006 4:56 PM
Ok, I know we don't know eachother, but I feel your pain. We just bought our first house in March, and someone broke into it two months later. What did they take? The damn camera. Grrrr.
Love the knitting.

Man, that totally sucks! Jerks. I hope everything works out okay with the camera.
(also? best band name EVAR.)

Oh no! Sorry to hear the bad news. At least you know you have good dogs. And that the thieves are most active at 5:30?! And they are searching for the perfect set of Travel Scrabble. Sounds like a way to set a trap . . .
Posted by courtney | September 11, 2006 2:36 PM
I'm sorry you were robbed by buttheads.
On the otherhand you look so tiny and skinny in that somewhat cowl picture I fear you're on the bride diet! Eat a hoho or something! I'll send you some if it's a problem...

So totally LOVE SWR! I saw them in concert earlier this year.
And I am SO sorry about the robbery...

Poop! Thievery makes me mad! Why can't people just leave other people's stuff alone?!?!?! Glad you, Pants and the schmoos are ok, though.
Posted by Rossana | September 11, 2006 12:44 PM
I'm so sorry about your morning. It just burns my butt that people think they can just help themselves to someone else's stuff!! ARRGHHH Here's some good vibes for ya ~~~. Somewhat cowl looks awesome. I'm working on one too. Here's some good news!!! Knitpicks has Shine on sale!! Here's to a better Monday.

Oh no! So sorry that you started out your week that way!
BTW. I think the sleeves of my Somewhat Cowl were a little too big, but I love it anyways and get compliments all the time.

Ew, that really stinks! I am sorry. What a downer! At least they didn't break into the house though. That would have been even more super duper scary. Glad you are both ok...
Posted by Skylar | September 11, 2006 12:15 PM
Bummer about the robbery!!! I had my camera stolen out of my car in my parents driveway a few years ago. People can be such jerks...
My somewhat cowel ended up with really baggy arms and I even made the armholes about an inch shallower than the pattern called for. I've been meaning to go back and fix it, but I was so frustrated about it, I put that project in time out and it's been there ever since...
Posted by maya | September 11, 2006 12:09 PM
THAT SUCKS!!! Their bad karma will come back to haunt them!! Jerks!
Posted by jenny | September 11, 2006 12:04 PM
I want to hunt those people down and beat them. So, so, SO sucky. I'm sending happy thoughts about sunshine and flowers and unicorns and rainbows your way.
Posted by Sarah | September 11, 2006 11:29 AM
boo on being robbed. =[ definitely glad for you that it isn't any worse than it is. but still, having stuff stolen sucks.
yay on the color of your somewhat cowl...pretty! and yay on she wants revenge, i love them!
Posted by amy | September 11, 2006 11:26 AM

oh no!!!! mondays are NEVER supposed to be that bad! :( i can only hope that karma will come and bite those crooks in the buttocks.
Posted by gleek | September 11, 2006 11:15 AM
Awww, that's very sad. I'm really sorry the pants lost his camera equipment, and having ones car broken into sucks donky b@lls.
My worst "broken into" story (to date) was when I was house sitting for a friend. I went out to drive her car to class (I was in college) and her car had been broken into and the radio taken. I had to call her on her vacation and tell her and I felt horrible. Luckily, she's a more put together person than I am because I was balling my eyes out and she was all "ooh, it's ok, Marnie."
Love her.
Posted by Marnie | September 11, 2006 11:14 AM
so sorry. that is a horrible way to start your work week.
