Check.
So, we installed my side view mirror successfully. Here's proof that I was involved:

I'm a mechanic. Sort of.
Important things to have for a successful installation: a handy fiance (check), someone with abnormally skinny tiny hands (check), and a socket wrench (d'oh!). It actually wasn't that hard. Who knew?
In between car part installs, I've been knitting on the Somewhat Cowl. I've got one sleeve and the cowl left to go, so it's definitely going to be ready for Rhinebeck.

See that sleeve? The second one's almost done!
I may even have something else started by the time we head up. My twin sister keeps requesting knitted items (including but not limited to Ms. Marigold, and Something Red, although she REALLY begged when she saw Rachael's Central Park.) She really wants a cardigan now, and I'm trying to convince her that the bobbly zippy sweater in Paton's Street Smart is perfect.
But here's my dilemma: I think an 100% wool sweater is going to be too hot. She's like me: she's cold often, but she's a sweat-er. (as in, she sweats a lot). I'm wondering if a wool-acrylic blend wouldn't be as sweat-inducing? Any yarn suggestions?
Oh. And.
I might have been holding out on you a little. There's kinda sorta something else that I've been doing recently...
House. Hunting.
The Pants and I have been in the market for a house, and we are actually now officially under contract on the cutest house in town. Seriously. That's the name of my new house.

And here's what it looks like.
It has trees and a pretty yard and a deck and a garage and a big sunny kitchen and flower boxes on the windows. And a big sunny laundry room.
I haven't mentioned this before because we've already had one heartbreak (sniff), but I feel certain that this house is the right one. Send good vibes and cross your fingers and all that ...everything looks good so far.
So, that's what's been taking up my time lately...that, and my ridiculously full Tivo.

Oh my god...I hate when this happens. I've been so behind, I've missed out on some big news!
And it's a good thing I don't live out there, cause I might have to steal that house out from under you. Love it.

Good luck on the house! It's a great experience (mostly) and being a homeowner is fantastic.
Nice work on the mirror & the knitting...as always. :)

Sounds like you need to teach your sister how to knit! Then maybe SHE can make YOU stuff. =)
You are a lucky girl! I can't wait until we can buy a house. But, um, I guess we should stop moving around so much first. Good luck with the house!

Oh I hope you get it! It is a really cute house!

Congratulations and good luck on the house!
I agree with others who have recommended a cotton/wool blend over an acrylic/wool blend. I don't have a full sweater, but my Wool-Ease scarf makes my neck feel super clammy after a while.

I vote for Something Red for Cat...looks like her the most.

The house is so so so so cute!!! And I rather like that neighborhood, since I grew up there (in the older part). Very conveniently located. And adorable! Will keep my fingers crossed. Hooray!!!

Just had to say that I definitely agree on using a cotton-wool blend. I have a sweater made from Cascade Sierra which is 80% Cotton and 20% wool...warm enough, but the cotton is definitely breath-ie.
Hope you find something :)

Good thing that you and the Pants are handy because you're going to need it WHEN (not if) you get that house. Good luck!

Ms. Marigold and the very bobbly zippy sweater are super cool.
I'm sure Rhineback'll be extra fun partying in your Somewhat Cowl.
Finally, it looks like the Pants is really interested in the trees around the house.

Owning a house is great! I love my little cottage. Your house-to-be is so nice and the outside looks really well-maintained. Will there be a craft/knitting room for you?
Posted by Kim P | September 29, 2006 1:12 PM
That is indeed the cutest house on the planet. Fingers crossed.
Posted by Silvia | September 29, 2006 12:59 PM

Crossing my needles for the house. It is adorable.

So. Cute. I love it. Our house has a beachy blue (aka ugly) front and gray siding on the other sides. I so want to do gray and black on the front. Good Luck!

Good luck with the house - it really is super cute!!
Posted by jessica~ | September 29, 2006 9:35 AM
something red and the CPhoodie..both are fab! I think that in a different color in the all seasons cotton the hoodie would have been fab! maybe would help the recipient with the sweat?
The house is GORGEOUS! Fingers crossed!

So good to read good things here. Glad the little black cloud went on its way - best of luck with the house! And I echo Anne's post on the Knitpicks Main Line. It's really nice - I'm planning on knitting up the central park hoodie with it.
Posted by Maureen | September 29, 2006 9:28 AM
Knit Picks Main Line is a cotton/wool blend too, that's less expensive. I really liked knitting with it. And best of luck with the house!
Posted by anne | September 29, 2006 9:26 AM
Is this the place you posted in the last set of pictures? I love, love, love that kitchen.
Posted by jodi | September 29, 2006 9:07 AM
i think acrylic makes you sweat more. but maybe a cotton/wool combo (rowan wool cotton? i think debbie bliss makes on too? sorry i guess those are both pricey yarns! but there must be something else) would be better - not as hot as pure wool, but still natural fibers which breathe.
Posted by carolyn | September 29, 2006 8:53 AM
Yeah for house hunting! We close on ours on the 13th and let me tell you I can't wait to proclaim that I am a "homeowner"!!
Posted by Kate | September 29, 2006 8:26 AM
wow, house hunting! i just had a major reality check with my hubby yesterday over the prices in NYC. someone is selling their apartment in my building for $599k! and when we worked out the monthly payments it was over $4k/month. just outrageous. *sigh* it'll be a long time before we ever buy some place. i'll have to live through you for a while :) be sure to post lots of pictures!
go go go somewhat cowl!
Posted by gleek | September 29, 2006 8:20 AM
