Hola.
I am home from Mexico, peeling slightly, and exhausted from too much fun. I'm sure you *really* feel sorry for me. I had a wonderful time - Cabo is beautiful, the weather was perfect, the resort was insanely nice, and I got a spectacularly ridiculous sunburn (just the front of my shoulders, my cleavage, and my knees, thank you very much. I don't recommend the Coppertone Spray Sunscreen...). Highlights included a fabulous massage at the resort spa, snorkeling, singing karaoke at What's Up! in downtown Cabo, eating lots of good food, and hanging out with the 20 or so members of Jacob's family that were with us. (The waitress in me felt a little sorry for our servers every time we all went to a restaurant.)
I learned some Spanish, the most useful being "No more!" and "How much?" Jacob was actually really good at communicating when we went shopping, and also good at negotiating prices. I am NOT good at negotiating prices.
Here are three representative trip pictures:

The main pool at Pueblo Bonito, our resort.

YAY PATIO PARTY.

Jacob's fans at What's Up! karaoke.
The rest of the pictures are over here: [ Cabo Pics ] . Fun times.
I actually did very little knitting, mostly because I did more walking around and dancing around than sitting. I do have a Ms. Marigold progress pic for you:

Yes, I"m wearing Picovoli underneath. 'Cause that's what I wore to work today.
It's fitting great. It needs a good blocking because it flew with me to Cabo, and obviously I have some ends to weave in, but so far, so good. Tonight will be crocheting armholes and making the cute flutter sleeves. Yep. Me likey. I like this whole "knit stuff I'll wear" thing. It makes me happy.
Also making me happy? I washed and dried my Picovoli in the machine, and she's super soft and not pilly. SHINE. I love it!
Did I miss anything exciting in the blogosphere while I was gone?
COMMENT ISSUE STUFF
Okay. I recently installed MT-Keystrokes on my Movable Type to prevent the ridiculous amount of spam I've been getting. Keystrokes works by validating that the user has entered keystrokes while entering a comment (using javascript), thus eliminating the automated robots from leaving spamalicious comments.
However, my future father-in-law tried to leave a comment and he got this message: "Thank you. Your comment is being held for moderation." But here's the weird part: it never was emailed to me, never showed up in my Movable Type, I couldn't find it anywhere! SO, I went to my System Overview in Movable Type and checked the Activity Log, which shows every bit of spam that Keystrokes is rejecting, and I found Tommy's rejected email address in there.
If a commenter clicks on 'Preview', previews their comment ,and then submits it, they will get that "Your comment is being held for moderation." message, when in reality the comment is being rejected altogether by Keystrokes. I think since the Preview shows you the comment, everything is already filled in when you submit it, and MT-Keystrokes thinks it's a robot.
Anyways. I'm going to take the 'Preview' button off of my comment template for now (if I can) so no one will get rejected for that, and hopefully figure out where that moderation message sits in Movable Type so I can change it to something like: REJECTED! YOU ARE AN AUTOMATED ROBOT! MT-Keystrokes has worked for me otherwise, so hopefully this is a small issue that can be fixed.
Comments (34)
Just found this blog while trying to track down some other mt-keystrokes problems. Your problem is probably easily solved; you need to add an onclick handler to the "post" button on your comment forms. Do that on the comment form, the preview form, and the comment error form.
Something like this (from the docs):
input type="submit" onclick="keystrokes(this.form)" name="post"

I love how you keep taking pics in your work bathroom. I would totally do the same thing if I actually wore knitting to work. Maybe I'll knit a green apron. Har.

Dag - MT keystrokes didn't work for me, but I'm glad it worked for you! You are a knitting machine! Love your stuff you're knitting up lately.

Looks like you had a fabulous trip (and there were certainly others more BURNED than you) - so many people with so much stage "presence" were they all liquored up OR are they just that great!!
Your knitting as always is beautiful.

1. Wah! Once again, you astound us all with a great, WEARABLE knit! I'm so jealous.
2. ¡México! ¡Qué emocionante! Spanish = me favorite ^_^
3. Sunburn stinks. But there's no disgusting-goober-icky-poopie red/brown tanning for you. Mesay you be happy. Gggrrr. Us Indian boys with our farmer tans... T_T
4. Your idea of 'very little knitting' is whack-OOO! YOu got an entire project done! woot for Carrie! I've finally learned to knit while I walk... So many possibilities now methinks. Mwahahaha! Ahem.
5. Jacob's piercing eyes are seeing into my soul.
I likee! XD

OMG, Cabo was so much fun, I just went like a month ago and it was the best time ever. looks like you had a lot of fun. YAY!

hmmmm, there's gotta be some way for MT-Keystrokes to have an if statement that clears the comment in preview-mode if there's text present in the form textarea. i would submit it to the author of the plugin as a bug just in case they hadn't thought of that!
by the way, your comment form never remembers me. you're missing a small bit of javascript that goes in the BODY onload tag :) contact me and i'll point you in the right direction!

Thanks for the update on the commenting issue. I am thinking about using Keystrokes too, as all the spam comments I've been getting lately are really messing with me!!

Oh god, cleavage sunburn is the WORST. I heart those spray sunscreens, maybe you burned because the sun is stronger there?
Looks like you guys had fun, the resort is gorgeous!
I need to get me some Shine, too bad we're trying to save money for vacation in August...
Posted by Jenn | June 27, 2006 3:46 PM
Fun times! Woo hoo! Mr Wonderful and I had a blast in Riviera Maya too. Got sunburned and drank. Barely any knitting. It was too hot!

Posted by sarah b. | June 27, 2006 3:13 PM
hey, welcome home!
Here's a question for you: before you started the neck ribbing on ms marigold, did your boobs pop right out the front? Because I'm just picking up stitches now and I'm a little concerned about the fit. And I can't believe I have enough boobage to pop out of anything.
Posted by jodi | June 27, 2006 2:56 PM
Miss Marigold look wonderful in the reflection of what I am guessing is the restroom at your place of employ. You are too kooky!
