Pet Peeves and Warm Fuzzies
1. You know those things on blog comments now where you have to type in a code to make sure you're not a spammer? The code is something like: G1ko6p and it always says, "This is a final step to protect my blog from malicious robots" or whatever. I NEVER get it right the first time. And I always think, Am I a malicious robot?
2. Guess what I found? Fuzzy Foot #2, aka The Lost Fuzzy Foot. It was hiding in my office at home, behind the bulletin board that was waiting to be hung up. Grrrrrr. And hahahaha. You were all right - it was bound to show up eventually. I guess I need to make #4 now. Numbers 1 and 3 are felted and dry and ready to give to their recipient.

Fuzzy Wuzzy.
Click to see on my feet.
I really love the way these turned out. Easy and super quick.
3. I emailed one of my senators, Saxby Chambliss, to tell him to vote NO on the federal marriage amendment, and I requested a response. The email response I got back was a form email referring to a completely different issue. NICE. So I wrote him another email telling him how lame that made me feel. Like, I know that he's not reading EVERY email, and I knew it wouldn't be a personal response, but thanks for REALLY making me feel like my opinions don't mean shit.
But, hahahaha to you, Ol' Saxby, because the stupid amendment didn't get enough votes anyways. Meaniehead.
4. I love Picovoli. I love Shine. I also love the armholes in the Picovoli pattern. One of the things I ALWAYS make too small when I do top down raglans is the armholes, and small armholes, while bad in almost any circumstance, are especially bad for me because I'm an excessive sweat-er. (At first, I typed excessive sweater and that looked funny.) Anyways, what I mean is: I SWEAT A LOT. The armholes in this top down are a little different, and they are comfy and a little stretchy. Me. Likey.

Picovoli. On Me.
YAY.
I can't wait to finish this! And cast on for Ms. Marigold! Woooooooooooo!
Ahem.

I started the Picovoli and did the picot edge originally. But wouldn't you know, I made a mistake and have to rip. I'm goin for the straight edge now, partly because it's less work and partly because yours looks so good.

Hey Carrie: Good for you for even writing at all! Double good for you for confronting his office about their mess up! I'd be anxious to know if you get a response regarding that. Of course, since I am a lobbyist, I'm always interested in that kind of thing! BTW, Marley got a new brother...a Mini Aussie Shep puppy.
Picovoli is looking fab!

Hey, Carrie! Tivoli looks yummy and fabulous- makes me want to drop all the hevy wool I'm knitting for some Shine... Don't worry about the politics thing. I _work_ in politics (I'm a campaign manager) and I always get emails that people don't bother to check. Once I got an email from one of our supposed party line folks reaming me out for that latent sin, Republican-ism! Turns out, he hit the wrong reply button or something...

The existential (but related) question - how can robots have malice? And who really thinks comment spam will do anything for their cause? Love the sweater, though.

Picovoli looks great so far--that sleeve arrangement is cool.
Picovoli, the word, reminds me of the name of the wine hubby and I drank a LOT of the other night...hmmm.
Thanks for contacting your Senator! Too bad the response was a bit dopey--not too terribly surprising, though, right?

Thank you for contacting your senator about the gay marriage issue! Even if he doesn't care about your opinion! Do any of them? Care about our opinions? Only when it comes to whether we are voting for them or giving them money. I know they have lots of people to respond to and try to set up automated systems but puhlease. But I still thank you for caring about this issue!

It seems all the codes I get are very similar to dirty words. Or maybe that's just my imagination reaading too much into it. Is that part of the test to see if you're a robot or not?

You look really nice in those purply plumy colors. I must now start a top down something...

I feel like your comments here are excessive sweaters AA. :) I too used to sweat a lot until my doctor gave me this magic potion called Dry-Sol. I'm pretty sure it kills all your sweat glands in the pits but who cares. I now no longer have pit stains on any of my shirts!!!!

That sweater is gonna look so cute on you!

Picovoli looks like it's going to turn out great! I've been setting up to make a purchase for the yarn for it this week!

Hey Carrie, I was just catching up on your blog and I think The Pants looks great with his head shaved. My hubby, an avid cyclist and runner, is thinking about shaving his (getting balder) head so that he doesn't have to comb his hair after workouts and I'm all for it!

I LOVE the fuzzy feet! I made an orange pair for myself just recently! Also - I love the Picovoli. I may have to try this - and glad to hear that the shine yarn is a good choice! I can afford that!

yay for finding cute knitted booties and yay for wide armholes that don't make you sweat in .002 nanoseconds and down with that crap legislation! boo! hiss!
have a good weekend :)

Too funny. Are you really a malicious robot? Hmm.
I told ya the slipper would appear at the last minute!
Looks like Picovoli is going to fit like a glove. Prettyful.

LOL! Maybe include a bit of your face next time, and we'll all stop obsessing over and commenting on your breasts. Who says knitting isn't sexy?
Posted by Gina | June 9, 2006 9:12 AM
Dear Sweaty Betty,
I think you sweat like normal. Unless I sweat alot too. Picovoli is really beautiful and it fits you like a glove.
I have trouble typing in those codes too, especially when they are against a grainy background.

OK, as far as the robots go, I take about 3 times, and I try really really hard each time. I think they are fucking with us becasue THEY are robots. I mean seriously, is this all really needed?
I knew you would find #2 eventually!!!!!!!
MWAHHHHHHH

I LOVE the color you're using for Picovoli. It looks great on you!!!

I cast on for Ms Marigold a couple of days ago - I'm obsessed with it! Not sure how it'll look though (with boobs and all). Fingers crossed.

Ugh, what crap from the senator's office, but good for you for voicing your opinion. Oh, and I'm with Angela--the William Bennett interview was so tense and Jon Stewart really put the screws to him. I thought the guy was about to take a swing at my Jon for a minute!
And your Picovili is looking lovely...I may have to make one after all...must check stash...

I am TOTALLY an excessive sweater! Armpit sweat-circles in WINTER excessive. WTF?!?!?!
I don't think Malicious Robots can knit, so you must not be a malicious robot.
Posted by Lara | June 8, 2006 11:52 PM
Unfortunately, your email was probably read and responded to by some 20 year old intern who was probably thinking more about happy hour than your message. Woops, is my jadedness showing through?
At least your knitting is lovely.

Did you see Jon Stewart wipe the floor with William Bennett on the subject of gay marriage? He was fabulous! It is frustrating to feel like your elected officials are not actually listening, but keep trying! I've been heartened by a few developments lately: increased funding for the NEA, the legislation that reduces the time it takes foreign artists to get work visas (an administrative boondoggle if ever there was one), and the lack of votes for the marriage amendment. (Can you tell I'm an arts administrator?) These little victories mean a lot in these bleak political times! Oh, and nice Picovoli!
Posted by Angela | June 8, 2006 9:10 PM
I have always thought that you were a malicious robot.
I emailed Sonny and he never emailed me back. Poo on them.
Posted by Cathy | June 8, 2006 8:40 PM
I'm impressed (and a bit jealous) by your progress of late! Must.get.knitting. as I have a Green Gable & would like to make Picovoli. Okay, you found me out, I just want to be just like Carrioke. :-)
Posted by sarah b. | June 8, 2006 8:26 PM
you think your senator stinks! i emailed santorum after his odd "gay marriage leads to dog sex" remarks to say he was an embarrassment to pennsylvania (where i grew up.) he then PUT ME ON HIS MAILING LIST! like asking for contributions! i was furious.
Posted by carrie m | June 8, 2006 8:23 PM
Malicious robots don't have such a nice rack. Cute sweater btw. Ms. Marigold is a cute pattern and I'd like to see where you take that one.
Posted by Silvia | June 8, 2006 7:43 PM
i like picovoli on you. since i'm mastering Green Gables, maybe i'll try this one next!
Posted by lynette | June 8, 2006 7:20 PM
Picovioli is lookin' hawt! I have been thinking about knitting it, also in Shine.
I'm casting on for Ms Marigold tonight. I can't wait to make those fluttery sleeve-lets!
Posted by carole | June 8, 2006 7:06 PM

Posted by joanna | June 8, 2006 6:54 PM
I'm an excessive sweat-er too. Picovoli. On You. Looks divine. Glad you found the other foot. L, C
