Green Gable
Well, looky what I'm wearing to work today!
Finished at last!
I finished blocking Green Gable last night. I tried my hand at steam blocking with a fabric steamer - although the one I got doesn't give me very much control of how much steam comes out or when. It just starts a-steaming. I think I'm going to take it back and stick with wet blocking in the future, but for now it's blocked enough.

I'm wearing a little tank top underneath because I went crazy with the lace at the top, and it's a little too much skin for work. But for going out...it's just enough skin! woo-hoo.
The finishing on this top was a long process for me. I really wanted to make it wearable, which is my new goal with my knits, and it proved to be a challenge. Minor changes: I did some extra shaping at the waist. I added a bit of length. I left off the ribbing at the bottom and just did a normal old bind off. And, to compensate for my extra tight binding off, I did the sleeve ribbing using size 4 needles and then switched back to the 6s for the bind off. This REALLY helped my cap sleeves to be comfortable.
I'm so happy with the finished product. I really like it layered with a tank, but it looks really sassy without a shirt too.
Yay Green Gable! I actually just bought the newest Zephyr pattern yesterday - Ms. Marigold - and I'm already well into another summer knit - Picovoli, using KnitPicks Shine. I love the Shine. LOVE IT. I'm all about the summer knitting right now - it's HOT up in this piece.

In other news, I'm postponing my necessary studying for my History final in less than 2 hours.
Yea... an male, high school honors classes knitter can do that sometimes...
As far as I know, I'm the only one!
I digress though... great GG!! I must knit this for all me friends!! mwahahhaa!
Wearable knits are so hard to find... You found a great one! I'm so jealous...

I love it! It looks terrific on you, and I LOVE the color. It's so great that you'll actually wear it. So many of my knits end up "house clothes," and I'm too embarassed by their crappiness to wear out.

Your Green Gable looks wonderful - I love the tee shirt option - very cute! I really need to get mine finished. What shade of cotton fleece is this? It's a really nice purple - I don't remember seeing it when I went looking for colours.

Green/magenta Gable is fabulous and sassy enough for you! Great job. Isn't it wonderful when you make that leap to just making something to making something that you'd WEAR!

I love the color and I agree with you about shine I am making a baby blanket and I just love the way it feels. It is so cool to the touch when I am knitting it. Have fun ,with it I know that I am.

Green Gable looks so fantastic that I might be tempted to give it another go. I like that you aren't (or don't seem to be) the least bit worried about getting caught photographing yourself in the bathroom at work. Sassy!

Sassy! I need to frog mine and start over...I just don't love how it fits. Yours, however, looks fantastic. Love the pea green naugahyde couch in the ladies lounge!
