Weekend. (Picture Heavy.)
Nephew Schmoo status: The little guy wants to make us wait a little longer. And that's actually good for my sister, health-wise (although I believe at this point SHE IS READY.) [ Nephew Schmoo probably knows that I need to sew snaps on his onesie and is waiting for that - what a good kid! ]
Anyways, for a weekend that I was supposed to be gone, I actually had lots to do. On Friday, I spent the day with my sisters. Cathy and I hung out with Michelle and Nephew Schmoo-to-be for a little while. Michelle's dog Cash also hung out:

Cash is a schmoo.
After Michelle's, Cathy and I may have stopped at a bridal shop, and I may have tried on a ridiculously large and ornate dress:

I felt like some sort of weird medieval woman.
Um, trying on wedding dresses is SUPER FUN. I'm going to try on like 60 billion. And take pictures of all of them. I actually found one I liked, but it was blue and a bridesmaid's dress. I might return to it eventually.
So. Other activities. Bling played TWO shows this weekend, and since I was here, I played in both shows. Saturday afternoon was a benefit for the Athens Justice Project. It was really strange to play at 3:00 in the afternoon, since we normally don't stop playing until around midnight or LATER. The guys in the band normally wear sunglasses on stage, but on Saturday we actually needed them:

Greasy V and Carrieoke.
More pictures from the benefit concert here: [ Bling Bling ]
Fun times.
And, in knitting news, I got my Sockapaloooza socks in the mail this weekend, and THEY. ARE. AWESOME!

They fit perfectly, they are super comfy, and so beautiful!
These were knitted by the lovely elizagrrl. I was so excited when I opened the package - Eliza sent me these amazing socks and a Chibi too! Thanks so much Eliza! They fit so well...I will be wearing these lots and lots.

Yummy softness.
My socks made it to my pal as well - in some miracle of the post office, I sent my socks to Austria last MONDAY and they got there by Friday! Miraculous. You can see them on Leandra over here: [ click. ] How cool is it that a pair of socks that I knitted are in Austria now? And they fit, too! I'm so glad they fit, Leandra!
It was a great weekend. I heard the weather was good for Sheep and Wool, so ya'll better start posting the pictures! I can't wait to hear all about it.

Hello! I stumbled across your blog photos of your sister's 2005 marathon. I'd love to ask both of you about using the photos for our postcard about marathon scrapbooks! Michaelene

Carrie, that wedding dress pic reminded me of "Muriel's Wedding" and some of the poofy creations that Toni Collette tries on. Rent it if you haven't seen it.
Random: where did you guys get your running jerseys personalized? We ghetto-fied ours with fabric markers for the half marathon, but want the real thing for Chicago.

oh yeah, you just have to try on the most RIDICULOUS dresses to have a good laugh. Some of them must weigh like 50 pounds - how does a girl get on the dance floor in a dress like that?!

I got my wedding dress at this dress-o-rama warehouse place in the very big city near you. I think it was called David's or something like that. They had a bazillion dresses you could try on. Good luck looking! (unsolicited advice - wear comfortable shoes...) Those socks are fabulous!

Such cool pictures in this post! Trying on dresses is super fun- just don't get freaked out by the weirdos that work in bridal shops! (is it just me?)
We missed you so much in MD... can't wait for Rhinebeck.

Your socks are very nice. And the ones you made are nice looking too! Amazing that the USA mail being involved and it only took 5 days to get to Australia! Mail a letter to a US address and it could take anywhere from 1 week to 2! Love the snail mail.
The wedding dress pic is beautiful, can hardly wait to see more.

Too bad the babe couldn't have let you know he'd be late to the party, so you could have come with us. I brought you back something, though. . .
Also. I'm having a potluck on Thursday night, and Peter will be here! Will you come?

My dress is ivory, gold, pink, purple, green and blue. With sparkles. Subtle sparkles. I say go for it!

Oh my goodness, Cash is absolutely adorable. Aww the wedding dress trials, great fun indeed, having a blog to post the fun even better, laughing at some of the hideous dresses out there, priceless.

Cash = Schmoomee
I am so glad that you are planning on trying on 60 billion dresses, because I would have forced you otherwise.
We missed you SOOOOO much at MS&W!

I wore ruby red on my wedding day. (I am paler than pale and white made me look ill.)
I got my dress from Nicole Miller who does some lovely bridesmaid dresses in white, ivory, apricot, ruby, blue, etc. They look like wedding gowns but are much less $$$.

LOVE the socks.. and what great face that dog has :) so intent!
Posted by gleek | May 8, 2006 10:37 AM
You are indeed a cutie pie in that dress. I echo everyone else who encourages you to go with the color of your choice (I wore pink on my wedding day, m'self) - you will look stunning no matter what! I know you waiting for nephew schmoo. I am thinking of your sister and hope all goes well!!!
xoxo

I just love that big 'ol nose on Cash - what a sweetie. You look darlin' in that dress - you could do a contest where you let your blogger posse' choose from 3 dresses, 3 wedding locations, 3 honeymoon locations, etc. - we'll just help you pick everything!! Sorry - you'll have to call Katie & NBC (or maybe CBS??) to pay the bills!!

I think you should totally go for the blue dress, if you want it! My wedding dress was periwinkle blue - and I loved it. White's not so good on me. Have fun trying on all those dreses, though! :)

We missed you lots! Glad you had a busy weekend though. You will look gorgeous no matter what dress you choose, you are one pretty schmoo.

I am constantly amazed at the amount of stuff you get done--working, studying, knitting, singing in the band, spending time with family and friends, walking your dog, running...you must not sleep. Have fun with the wedding dress hunt. I went with a non-traditional color (not too crazy--a really lovely soft apricot) and was quite pleased with it, so if the blue dress thrills you, do what makes you happy. I'll post a couple of MSW pics in a few days. (I didn't take too many--too busy ogling the wool.)

awww your socks are gorg. Love it! And hoe cute is cash???
Enjoy tryong on all those dresses :)

Your pose in that dress is hilarious.
And I love your socks. I'm making that pattern right now and as soon as I'm finished I'm going to start another pair.

Tell your sister to hang in there, the last days of pregnancy can feel like an ETERNITY!!
Cash is adorable!!
Sounds like you had a fun, full weekend even without MDS&W :o)

You should get a bunch of wedding dresses for cheap at Goodwill and then wear them for Bling shows!
Posted by Jenn | May 8, 2006 7:42 AM
Pretty wedding gown! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your faves. Meanwhile, I was sad you weren't at MSW this year, but it's so exciting that you have a nephew getting ready to be out here.
Posted by Rossana | May 8, 2006 7:37 AM
Sounds like good times! Cash is just the cutest!! Love the dress :)

CASH! is a SCHMOO!
You are pretty in that princess dress and HOT with the Vinal.
I miss you already!
Posted by Jenny | May 8, 2006 2:48 AM
You're going to be such a pretty bride! And hey...pick the color you want. I see women over here get married in dresses of all colors.
P.S. You should put together a gallery of your favorite "trying on dress photos". It would be fun for us to see them AND you could keep it up as a souvenir :-)

What a fun weekend! Singing your heart out, hanging out with the fam and getting handknits in the mail sounds like a great time.
Trying on dresses must be a blast, too. Good luck finding *the one* (even if it's blue!).
Posted by molly! | May 8, 2006 2:03 AM
You could get married at Medieval Times in that dress!
Posted by leslie | May 8, 2006 2:03 AM
Have fun trying on those dresses! Always fun as a newly engaged gal. Fun to have the salespeople fawning over you and trying to make you feel special ;) Enjoy!
Posted by Amy | May 8, 2006 12:57 AM
Well, heck, why *not* have a blue wedding dress! Wedding dresses weren't always white, traditionally anyway...in fact I seem to remember blue was a preferred color historically somewhere.
I've seen red wedding dresses, even. It's kinda cool!
