Happee! Mania!

THANK YOU!

Um, you guys are totally like the nicest blog readers ever in the history of the world. No, seriously. I am totally overwhelmed by the congratulations and good wishes and thoughtful comments. You are schmoos, every single one of you. Schmoos, I say! Thank you thank you thank you for sharing my excitement! I pretty much told anyone who looked in my general direction on Friday, and I did a lot of jumping up and down. I'm not usually one to be SUPER girly about things, but um, HI I'M BEING GIRLY. I'm so buying bridal magazines and looking at dresses online and planning Bella's ringbearer costume. Wheeeeeee.

(Just so you know: he picked the ring out all by himself, I didn't know it was coming, and my last name will not actually be Pants. And also, Jacob is really cute.)

Ahem.

Seriously, your comments meant so much to me. It's so fun to share the happy with ya'll.

There is knitting to report, because I had a deadline this week: Sockapaloooza! Here are the socks I knitted for my pal:

sockapalooo.jpg
Knit with Trekking XXL using Sensational Knitted Socks.
See the pattern close up.

They are definitely fraternal twins, but I still love the way they turned out. I hope my sock pal doesn't mind that the striping doesn't exactly match. These were super fun to knit, and they are winging their way to Europe right now.
Thanks to Blue Blog Alison for organizing such a huge sock swap -- I can't wait to get mine in the mail!

(For future reference, how do I get the stripes to match up on variegated yarn like this? I tried to eyeball the colors and match the stripes when I started the second sock, but I couldn't do it. I've tried before with other yarns too. Educate me, please.)

Tonight I get to start my Green Gable, and I'm kinda sorta hoping that it will go really fast and I can wear it at Maryland Sheep and Wool. Har. We shall see. I told Jacob that his timing is impeccable, because now I get to go hang out with knitbloggers, play with yarn, *and* show my friends my beautiful ring. What more could a girl ask for?

Oh my, YAYAYAYAYAY!! I may be a bit extra hormonal this week, but I nearly cried when I saw this post. You two are so cute! I am so happy for you both! YAY!!!

Congratulations lovely couple! How sweet was the proposal, the beautiful ring... Great job Jacob, you are a keeper for sure.

I look forward to the upcoming adventures and planning, keep us readers in mind!

Yo, Carrie. Best Wishes! That's sooo exciting.
Congrats to Jacob too. Missed you guys at Twilight.

Hi, Carrie! I was in the process of organizing my weekend (read: procrastinating from my paper due tomorrow) and wondered if you and your friends wanted to go out in Baltimore this weekend. Let me know and I'll see what I can come up with, perhaps, just perhaps, including some kareoke....

A belated congrats!! I'm so happy for you two. And I loved that pic of you and him in your last post. Ahh, wedding magazines, I hear ya!

Congratulations!

Good luck knitting really fast on the GG. It's a lot of round and round. I have accepted that it is not likely that mine will be done in time for MSW but I can still hope.

BTW, news of your engagement prompted a really humorous conversation with the husband here. He didn't really remember proposing at all, which, technically, he didn't...Kinda funny.

I'm going to wear my sunglasses all weekend, just in case the bling is blinding.
But I can't wait to see you!

Can we just pretend your new name is Mrs. Pants?

Congratulations, Carrie. (I didn't manage to squeeze my congrats into the last post.) Very exciting news, and I wish both of you all the very best. xo

Congrats again!
Trekking XXL is a yarn which is plied from two different, usually striped yarns(? sometimes my English is just not good enough) which makes it virtually impossible to knit totally matching socks. Try the colorway #100 if you can get your hands on it. Its georgous. And the socks never match ;o)

No MS&W for me this year. :( My allergies are too bad. I'm very sad. Please take lots of photos! I've to live vicariously through my fellow knitters this year.

I won't be at MD$W, but I will be at Rhinebeck. I hope you will be there so I can oggle your ring then. Congratulations!

1. dude, i'm so damn excited for you!!!!

2. i really dig those socsks.

3. when you say your name won't be mrs. pants do you mean you're not talking jacob's name? that's totally cool if you aren't. i just wasn't sure if you're trying to tell us that, or that his last name really isn't pants.

Bah, I'm the only person in the world who won't see you at MDS&W.

Anyway! The thing with some colorways of Trekking that I've found (I've used that colorway and I puffy pink heart it) is that it doesn't seem to make even stripes, so you'll always get fraternal socks.

Hey there! Just found your blog this morning (oddly enough, through a Google search for "free-loop backstitch"), loving it! Congrats on becoming engaged, wedding planning is SO much fun! I agree with TheBon on Martha Stewart Weddings, definitely the best. : )

Was looking at an old post of yours and wondering how to do fold-over hems? They look fabulous on your green merino sweater. Never seen that technique before. . . : )

Yay, congratulations again! Being engaged is so much fun! I'm not very girly myself, but oh my gosh, shopping for the dress brings out the girly-girly in anyone! And hello, it's the only time you can wear a TIARA without people thinking you're a nutjob. Have fun at MS&W!

Great socks! You know... it didn't even dawn on me that you *weren't* married to Jacob.

Oh, and I think Pants is a perfectly nice last name. ;)

EEP! My bloglines missed your big announcement post, so here's BELATED congratulations! I'm just thrilled for you!!

I wısh I could make this socks.May be one day...If you wanna idea for bridal dress I'm here okey:)Congratulations again from Turkey

So, we'll all know its you at MDS&W because we'll be able to track you by the blinding light flashing off of your ring, right?

Congrats on the engagement! I highly recommend Martha Stewart Weddings over any other bridal mag out there [and I have a current subscription to Brides and Modern Brides--I got a year of both for $17, way cheap compared to newsstand!] Martha has more diy stuff, and some even stuff that you could do for a reasonable amount of money. That's why I like it best, Modern Bride likes to think everyone can spend $50,000 on a wedding. Well, not me!

I'M A SCHMOO. I don't know about all these other losers.

Those socks turned out so well. OOH. Sign me up for Green Gable too. I just got yarn!!!

I'll be going to MD also, with my daughter Amanda (http://mistressstashenhancer.blogspirit.com/) Hope to see you there!

Hurray!!! Erica told me today after she'd talked with Cathy. Hurray!!
What a cute story -- I'm so happy you're so happy!
You and Jacob look so sweet and great together. Best wishes for real from all the Chicagoans.

Is it POSSIBLE that Jacob is so unbelievably awesome that he KNEW you would want to show off your ring at mds&w and therefore PLANNED THE WHOLE THING?!? Because that would blow my mind. See you and your ring there.

Oh I can leave a comment! And say CONGRATS! Being engaged is the best ever. Really. Being married is pretty good too. I can't wait to see the bling in person next weekend!!! Wheeeeee!

Lala's comment cracks me up.

And yes, Trekking just does that. You should see how different the socks I just finished are. I don't think there's a stripe repeat at all.

(of course, I haven't gotten around to actually taking pictures of them.)

Sheesh. Why are you even bothering to marry him if your last name isn't going to be Pants?

If there is EVER a time to be a girly-girl, the weeks after your engagement definitely qualify.

i think i'll be at sheep and wool, too, so i hope we can meet!

it's great that he picked out the ring and it was a surprise. so special!

wow, he is quite the planner. for a boy. :)

congrats again.

the socks are lovely.

sad i will miss you this weekend. :( but then, i miss you all the time!! so have a margarita for me!

Can't wait to see the bling, I mean ring, I mean YOU!

I have heard that some sock yarns are just destined to be fraternal, and if I remember correctly, Trekking is one that just does that. I think if you want actual matching, you should probably try one that isn't handpainted. Love those socks, though - they wouldn't be as pretty if they were identical.
And congrats again. A guy who can pick out lovely jewelry, keep a good secret and plan a surprise is definitely a good pick.

Were you really not expecting it? How fabulous he is!

Plus now you know he has great taste in jewelry.

I have the same 'matching' question...I tried eyeballing it, but while using two skeins of hand-painted yarn from the same dye-lot...right. They don't match all that much...

Again...
So.Happy.For.You! Wish I could be there to help you celebrate or at least see you at Maryland Sheep & Wool. Unfortch, not in my, ahem, budget. Congrats! Not that you don't have sisters aplenty, but if you need help w/ bridal research, lemme know. I got married nearly 3 years ago and it went sooo smoothly w/o any stress!

Happee! Mania! is the best title ever.

I cannot answer any knitting questions. I just wanted to comment.

Love, your sis
