No. Sleep.

Hey there! Here's some friendly advice: When a friend warns you that some allergy medicine might keep you up all night, LISTEN TO HER. Because it's 2:00am and hihihihihi! I'm up. Upupupupupup. I'm drinking some tea and knitting to try and make me sleepy, but nothing seems to be working. Ridiculous.

Anywho, I've been wanting to blog anyways, so might as well. Even if it is late-night-loopy-blogging.

Last weekend, I went to see my dad with my sis Cathy. We had a blast - events included Margarita Madness at Chili's:

Dad rocked the classic frozen margarita.

Knitting on the couch:

Yup, the twin knits. She's pretty good, too.
(Although the weirdo holds the working yarn in her left hand!)
[You other weirdos know I'm just jealous because ya knit so fast. ;)]

Logcabin-ing:

I'm working on binding off more loosely to make it a little squarer.
But I'm gettin' there.

And, some cabling:

Loving. This.

So it was good times all around. Got Dad a DVD/VCR combo and watched movies and relaxed all weekend. And ate some yummy NC barbecue. yum.

And in a EUREKA! moment: the other night at knitting, Jodi wanted to knit a row on my Must-Have and I was all, dude, I don't have the pattern with me. And she was all, dude, the pattern's RIGHT HERE. Look at the knitting! And she described it to me, and something clicked, and now I'm just whizzing through this sweater! Before I had post-it notes on all three separate cable patterns, and now I don't have to look at the pattern. FOR REALS. I still have to pay attention, but now I feel like I'm really making progress.

Well. I guess I should try to get some sleep, although at this point I should just wait until the sun comes up and go to the gym. hahahahahahahaha. I hope you are all sleeping soundly right now, if it's time for that in your part of the world.

That's a great moment; that "aha" moment where you realize that you really don't need the stinkin' pattern.

You crack me up! The cables really show up in that luverly blue yarn. But the photo of your dad is the best. I love how he's posing with that mega margarita (I want one) in front of him!

Hehe...you crack me up! Your cables are looking great. They really show up in that luverly blue yarn. But he photo of your dad is the best. I love how he's posing with that mega margarita (I want one) sitting in front of him!

Dude, you crack me up!! You're dad's cool. Working the margaritas like that! I'm jealous, my sister refuses to knit, the jerk.

I love me my left hand knitting! My mom taught me the "right" way long ago, then I didn't knit for years, then when I re-taught myself I taught myself the "wrong" way and I love it. I also love your MUST HAVE! It is soooo cool. I hear you on the keeping awake thing. I'm on Vicodin right now after my car accident (see blog) but it doesn't put me to sleep. Ya, I'm a weirdo. :-)

I'm one of those knitters that has the yarn in my left hand when I knit. I taught myself and didn't even realize that it wasn't th e"right" way until a year later. =)
Your cable project is beautiful!

ah yes, look at the knitting! seems so obvious when we realize it, but it takes something to make us wake up to it huh! Check out Anarchist Knitting sometime, you'll love it!

Oooh, logcabin! So perfect with the Mason Dixing Knitting book release. Nice work.

Sleep... I once thought it was over-rated; now, not so much.

I am Loving.This. too! What wonderful, awesome looking cables! :)

I embrace my weirdness. I hold the working yarn on the left, but I don't wrap, I pick. *grin*

No sleep here either. And MAN am I cranky. Hope you get some good zzzzs this weekend. Such a nice family! And such a kick ass sweater!

your dad is the cutest. good luck catching up on your rest & take care...

Holy cow girl, you got a lot done. It's looking great! And I'll send you some sleeve cap instrucions soon, really soon. Pinky swear.

The cabling without the pattern? Yeah, that's all well and good, but you gotta be able to read those stitches and I'm just not there yet with the cables. **Clings to pattern like life preserver.**

I was always the last kid to jump off the diving board in swim class. Can't help it.

I sort of know what you mean about the cables, I still have to think hard though! They look really cool!

That Jodi Green, she's one smart cookie!

Your sweater is looking fab.

Hey Carrie - I am a left hander wrapper too. I don't know where I learned it from, since I am not even left handed. I went to a knitting group and they thought I was a freak. A fast knitting freak - but one none the less.

PS: You Dad is a cutie! Looks like you had fun!

I always have to go up about .5-1mm in needle sizes for binding off. It really helps!!!! Also, CUTE DAD!!! I {heart} Chilis! and yay for cable knitting without patterns!

i *heart* dads...mine is adorable like yours!

and I love it when a cable pattern CLICKS! :D

Looks like you had such a fun time with your sis and your dad, and BTW I hold my WY in my left hand too - shhh - I think there might be more of us out there than you know. I'm gonna' have to really examine that log cabin thingy' - never tried that!! The blue cables are just fab. I'm gonna' try something with cables as soon as I finish my SIL socks. I can't imagine doing those cables without some serious pattern-following - you are just too good!!

Sleep - you need sleep?!?!?! I'm shocked - you always look so darn perky I figured you got by on 3-4 hours a night!!

Your dad looks so cute in that pic. I think it's the effect from the sweater wrapped around his shoulders.
Your cables are truly impressive, as is the fact that you don't need to look at the pattern anymore. You gonna have some mad skillz when you're finished with that sweater.

your dad is the cutest! and i love that you went to chilis. sounds like one of my trips home.

(i hold the yarn in my left hand too. don't judge!)

Yes! I love when I have enough completed on a project to be able to "read" the repeats. Then I don't have to worry about leaving the pattern at home.

Have you tried using a crochet hook as your right needle when binding off? I'm SOOO tight at binding off but using a crochet hook, I can actually do it!

Oh, I hope you got some sleep! (See? That's the kind of reason I hate taking allergy medicine. I'd rather sniffle.)

And--what's wrong with holding your yarn in your left hand?? (Although, I wonder if my twin would have held hers in her right . . . I'll never know, but now it's going to bug me.)

Oh no! You must be so sleepy at work today.
I was up late watching the rest of the last season of Six Feet Under. I was crying so hard, that I couldn't sleep. I should have called you!
Your cabley sweater is an utter MASTERPIECE!

I had one of those nights recently, only it was because I had busted my toe and it was throbbing so I couldn't sleep. Sorry to hear about the late night, but I'm glad you were able to post! Your must-have makes me want to do some more cables, I'll have to be on the lookout for a cable project. :-)

Hope you aren't too groggy this morning! I hate when medication does that but it's kind of nice to be up when everyone is sleeping it's so quite and peaceful.

The Must Have Cardi is looking great... you are a cabling pro!

I'm so into arans these days...I just love the blue cables...

hey! I'm a weirdo too I hold the yarn in my left hand too... :) weirdos unite!

:) hope you take a nap today!!

I love those cables...I tried knitting continental but I like being a thrower :) Hope you got some rest.

Your sweater is wonderful! I've had that pattern for a few years and might have to pull it out to consider again since yours is looking so good.
Allergy meds? We have a love/hate relationship.

Hihihi. We have changed places. You are me. I am you. ;-) ;-)

Also: Super cute twin dad!!!!

Left handed knitters are the best, p.s. OH! You are mirror twins. That's why she knits continental. I'm right. You know it.

I told you that Claritin was from. the. devil. I guess it makes sense that we would react the same way. I love your cables! Yay!

I'm a weirdo too, and hold the yarn in my left hand. I didn't realize it was weird, it's just how I learned. I thought all the right hand yarn holders were weird, hmmm.....

Love the cables, what's the pattern?

All good stuff :-) Your must have looks great!

that cabled thing is so hott, what is it exactly?? and i'm totally lovin' the colors!

Such pretty little cables....

Allegra keeps me up, what are you taking?
