Many, many things.
Yikes, it's been a while since I've posted. It's been crazy busy at my office and at my house, and the pollen is OUT.OF.CONTROL around here. I'm loving the 80-degree weather but HATING the pollen. I come home every night with a headache. (I've tried Zyrtec and Claritin-D, so I'm thinking Allegra will be my next stop. I just don't want to be groggy or AWAKEAWAKEAWAKE. Gah.)
Anyways, I'll show you what else has been keeping me away from the blog:
1.Studying...

I'm taking a Java class.
It's a prerequisite for one of my grad programs. The applications to the graduate school are IN, I just have to complete my supplemental apps and get my recommendation letters. My statement of purpose is nearly complete. And now I'm getting nervous.
(And by the way, Java is so weird. It takes like a bazillion lines of code to write "Hello, world!" But I'm learning. Slowly.)
2. Recycling...
One of my very first "real" knits:
Chevron Rib Tank. Cute, but I just don't wear it.
And it points to my crotch.
That tank became:

Yarn for Green Gable.
I don't wear the tank, so why waste the Cotton Fleece? I want a Green Gable RIGHT NOW. Which leads me to:
3. KNITALONG!
Do you want to knit Green Gable with us? Well, YOU CAN! Join the Green Gable Knitalong by leaving me a comment to this post (make sure you leave me your email address.) You can also comment on the blog of my lovely co-hostess, Kelly of the Pajama Monologues! Knitalong blog found here. We're thinking that we'll start May 1, although we might move that up if we get too excited. hee.
So, git yer pattern and join the knitalong! Yee-haw!
That's all I've got right now. Sorry for the crappy pictures, but sometimes you have to resort to the cameraphone when the USB cable is at work. Ahem.

I would really like to join this knitalong. My yarn is on it's way to me right now, so I would love to sign up and join the party!!

Sorry, Carrie....forgot to leave my url.

I've never done this before and I'm almost done with my Green Gable but wanted to be official. Figured if I joined a knit along before it was along I'd definitely finish it with everyone. Incidentally, I'm using Knit Picks shine and have tried it on - it's a fabulous pattern. Just need to finish my sleeves. Will post a photo to the KAL once I'm on board. Thanks.

Sign me up! I've been looking for an excuse to knit one.
Posted by Chrissy | April 16, 2006 10:45 PM
I'm in for the KAL. I have the pattern but am not convinced that the finished product will look good on me. That hasn't stopped me from knitting something before, though. I loved the chevron sweater--too bad it didn't work for you. Good of you to recycle, though.

Please sign me up for the Green Gable KAL. It looks like a great pattern. I'm stalled now. Maybe this is what I need to kick start my knitting again!
Posted by Lisa | April 16, 2006 1:35 PM
I'd like to join the knitalong too! Sign me up please!
Thanks!

Just wanted to swing in and say hello. I hate when I am gone for so long...I feel so out of the loop!
The "It points to my crotch" comment made me laugh out loud. Thanks...I needed that this morning!

I'd love to join the "Green Gables" KAL. Are you still taking members? I've been eyeing this pattern for a while - this'll give me incentive to acutally finish something!

Programming is kinda fun!!! I haven't done anything in a while, but I wrote a couple snazzy apps in asp back in the day, and I don't remember ever being prouder of something I did for work. it was SO NEAT! You click on things and they DO stuff! All those skillz are all rusty now though. I should really make more of an effort to keep up on it. You never know when this radio gig is gonna give out.

Oops, forgot to mention, I swear by a combination of homeopathic tinctures and nasal spray, which means absolutely no drowsiness or speedy gonzales. It's not effective for everyone. Depending on where you live in the country you may need different types - I use a hayfever nasal spray and Texas tree and weed mixes.

Okay, I shouldn't be, but I'm in for the knitalong. No real blog yet except for myspace, which I want to get away from. Moving to blogger soon. Kudos on grad school. Myself and another friend both head into it this fall - different parts of the country though - Texas and Virginia.

My DBF has horrible allergies and over-the-counter do the same thing to him. I persuaded him to try 'local honey', the pure kind. One tablespoon in the morning, and little to zero allergy issues without the medicine side effects!!
Posted by Heather | April 14, 2006 12:01 PM
I'm a stranger and a frequent lurker, but I had to tell you that Zyrtek is the only one that works for my spring allergies. It took me about a week to get over the groggies, just in case you have to try it again. And I take it right before bed, which helps.
Thanks for your fun blog!

I'd like to join the KAL. Just waiting for my yarn to arrive and can't wait to start.

Sign me up! I've been dying to make this little number. I am working on another project with Cotton Fleece and I really like working with it. It has a nice drape.

I've never done a KAL before, but I would love to do this one. I bought that green gable pattern as soon as I saw it on the Knit n Tonic Blog. Can I do this even though I don't have a Knitting Blog?
Posted by Liz Flor | April 13, 2006 5:09 PM
Hello: I am in for the Green Gable KAL! As soon as I saw that pattern, I ordered it. Now, I just have to pick the yarn. If only I can put down the sock knitting.
Posted by Kim P | April 13, 2006 4:53 PM
I think your chevron looks nice, but the yarn will make a good green gable too.
Posted by biglug | April 13, 2006 4:39 PM
I'd love to KAL with y'all! I actually have plans to go pick out yarn for it on Tuesday with a (blogless) neighbor, who is going to be knitting it with me.

Good luck on the grad school apps! I just got word I was accepted into the one and only school I applied to. Yay! If I can do it, you've got nothing to worry about.
Cute tank! But I'm sure it'll be a better Green Gables (Pink/Purple Gables?).
Posted by HibiscuitsGirl | April 13, 2006 1:23 PM
I am in! May 1 is perfect as I need to finsih my sockpal sock still.
Posted by Skylar | April 13, 2006 12:02 PM

sinusy headache??? I SWEAR by Extra-strength exedrin (if you're really just going after the headache part) - it's the CAFFEINE that helps oh SOOoooo much! I "think" I'm already signed up for the green gable KAL from the other blog (I'm bad - I can't remember her name at the moment - it's a 50+ something-thang!)
Posted by robin | April 13, 2006 10:56 AM
I have the yarn, I have the pattern, it's on my May knit list - Perfect - sign me up:)

What timing! I cast on for the Green Gable last night, and LOVE it. Sign me up!
Posted by SpaceCase | April 13, 2006 10:46 AM
Just say no to crotch pointing!
Since you mentioned Allegra, I will warn you that Allegra-D made me be awakeawakeawake. I think you're supposed to take it twice a day, and I can only take it in the morning or I will be awake for the rest of my life. Don't know about the regular Allegra though.
Woo for grad school!
Posted by Jenn | April 13, 2006 10:35 AM
I think I'm ready to stop lurking and join in one of these things.
Posted by Laura | April 13, 2006 10:08 AM
I just sent off my apps for grad school, too! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Posted by Kim | April 13, 2006 10:06 AM
Sign me up! I actually just posted on my blog about knitting the Chevron Tank because yours was so cute. Now that you make mention of the crotch thing, I'm not so sure anymore. I have the yarn for Green Gable. I've just been slow about ordering the darn pattern. Other than that, I'm ready to go!
Maybe I'll think of something else to knit with the yarn I just purchased for the Chevron Tank. Suggestions?
Posted by Kim | April 13, 2006 10:06 AM
Ooh, ooh, me! I just bought the pattern last week and was planning to start it as soon as I finish the corset pullover I'm almost done with. But I can wait until May 1! That'll give me time to pick out yarn for it...
Posted by J Strizzy | April 13, 2006 9:49 AM
Add me in for the Green Gable knitalong. I started a week ago, but I've not made much progress due to other factors. I need motivation.
Posted by Gina | April 13, 2006 9:48 AM
1. Yay for grad school!
2. I liked the Chevron tank...but I see what you mean about the crotch pointing thing.
3. I'll do the knit-along.

Woo Hoo. Get your needles ready ladies.
Posted by lisa | April 13, 2006 9:07 AM
Sign me up. I too have some recycled Cotton Fleece (VERY bright green) to use, and I just bought the pattern. When do you propose starting. By the way, I think the chevron top looked really cute (although I can see how the point might be a problem...).

Posted by Kara | April 13, 2006 2:28 AM
i made the chevron tank -- perhaps after seeing yours -- and frogged it too. it's an intriguing shape but certainly does point to the crotch. i used my frogged yarn to make a baby blanket.
Posted by carrie m | April 13, 2006 1:43 AM
I'd love to join the KAl too.I have nothing in the stash to knit it with though..yay! Yarn shopping.
Posted by Melanie | April 13, 2006 1:21 AM
Like Anita, I've started the sweater already (it's going to be my MSW sweater), but I want to KAL w/y'all! :)
Posted by Holly | April 13, 2006 12:29 AM
That whole knitting-in-the-direction-of-the-crotch business HAD to be started by a man.
Posted by Anita | April 12, 2006 10:59 PM
I already started this sweater, but would love to be included in the knitalong.
Posted by Anita | April 12, 2006 10:50 PM
