HotHotHot
Are you sick of me moaning about the pollen and the weather? Yep, me too. But it's SO. HOT. And it's only going to get hotter. Gah. I might have to put down some of the heavy wool knitting for a little while and knit on something a little lighter ... Green Gable, maybe?
Speaking of summery knits, here's one for you. I knit my sister the Caramel Cap Sleeve Top from Spring Interweave 2004 in July of 2004. I hadn't seen it in awhile, but it showed back up yesterday at Easter brunch:

Doesn't she look adorable?
Here's the back.
So cute. I love seeing the knits in action. She's wearing it over a little strapless sundress, and she just tied the belt over the sweater. Smart girl. It almost makes me want to knit one for myself!
(I'll admit, it's hard for me to see early Carrieoke knits and not cringe at the mistakes -- things that would be easy for me now, and were super hard for me then. This sweater is pretty okay. My first sweater ever - a Sitcom Chic - is hilarious to me now. I didn't know how to pick up stitches, so I just stuck my knitting needle through the edges and knitted straight from that for the buttonband. It's ... bad. But it also shows me how far I've come!)
Here's me and the Pants in our Easter best.

Not really our Easter best, but you know what I mean.
I may look like I've just gotten out of bed in that picture...we had a late Saturday night because Bling played at the Georgia Theatre. Fun show but kinda strange - a really popular local bluegrass band played with us, and they had a massive crowd ( because they are AWESOME.) So, there was totally a mass exodus after they finished so we had an enthusiastic but much smaller crowd. I realized that it's quite a mental shift to go from rockin' bluegrass to funky hip-hop, so I salute the folks who stuck around and blinged. Blang? Blung. ha.
Anyways, Easter brunch was loverly, got to see the fam, and my older sister Michelle, who is delivering my first nephew in less than a month! I tried to get a kick out of him by leaning really close to her stomach and saying "hey! It's Auntie Carrie!" but he was resting. I am so excited about the new schmoo that's coming to the family!
Here's Sockapalooza Sock #2, nearing completion. I'd say I'm about 2 inches from toe decrease?

So. Close.
I'm actually going to stop knitting on these for a few days while I
work on some kinda secret knitting that I need to finish up.
Hope it's nice and cool where you are!!

That little top is SO nifty. I love how she styled it with the belt; believe me, knit blogs will pick up this keen trick :-)

Congrats on the soon to be aunt-hood! My first nephew arrived a month ago. He's already getting knit bunny eared hats and such from me. Have you seen the movie A Christmas Story? Where Ralphie's aunt sends him a pink bunny suit? I think I'm going to be that kind of aunt. ;-) Best of luck to you!

Your sister's top looks great on her. Good job. I hope your going to knit something for your new nephew. Baby knits are super fast and easy to do.

You all are just too cute for words (and your Dad! I am always harping on about what a cutie pie he is!). It's been hot over here too....I feel your pain. And the pollen, geez louise!

Your sis's top is really pretty! I know what you mean about early projects - I wish I could do them again!

Cheer up, it's supposed to cool off this week in the South (I'm in the Greenville, SC area, not so far from you). That's won't help the pollen though...last night when I got home there was a HUGE (like 2 ft high by 4 ft wide) heap of those oak pollen thingys against the side of my house. I held my breasth and ran inside to the A/C!!

That top is adorable, and it's one that always catches my eye. You and your sister are just too adorable!

Thanks for showing the back of Cathy's sweater -- I've been wanting to knit that top ever since that issue came out but I just wasn't sure if I'd like the back. The schematic makes it look a little odd and they don't show a picture of it. Carrieoke to the rescue!
And I LOVE the way your coral top and the Pants' green shirt go together so perfectly.

Just so you know it is in the low to mid 60s in MD right now. I am sure it will get to the upper 80s by MD Sheep and Wool.

I'm feeling you on the heat! It just got crazy hot here, too. I'm still considering me some Green Gable, I might just have to join up!

just came across your blog, while looking for atlanta knitters. I too made the loopdloop leaf sweater followed by the hourglass sweater(which is living in a bag waiting to ripped down for the 2nd time-I can't get the gauge right)you must be a really fast knitter...I thought it was a funny coincidence, our sweater parallels.

Knits in action are always good.
And, darn, Green Gables is starting to really tempt me--so many people are making it, and it looks so pretty!

Oh man, I don't miss pollen.
Sitcom Chic was my first sweater too, and it stays mostly hidden. Oof. I just finished my Lace Leaf (using Sierra) and I agree, it's nice when you can see your knitting progress!

How weird is this...? My friends have a "porkfest" every year where we eat nothing but pork products and sit around and drink and hang out. So this year (this past Saturday), our friend who lives in Athens went totally all out and sponsored our porkfest in conjunction with his company client appreciation event - a pig roast... And he's been taking banjo lessons so had an in to hire Packway Handle to play the pig roast - and of course they invited us to the GA Theater for the "afterparty" which we almost went to. I would have totally seen your gig and that would have been so cool!!!! I wish I had gone!
I'm hot too and my eyes are on fire with pollen misery.

I really like that Caramel top. I might have to find that pattern. So cute! I've been in a bit of a knitting rut lately. Haven't felt much like knitting. Probably because everything I am working on is for someone else and has a deadline. Ugh. Love the sockpal socks though!
