Success

What. a. weekend. My (not really wedding-appropriate) band played at a wedding reception, which was seriously one of the most surreal things I've ever done. More on that later. I'll just say this: we had to change some of our lyrics to omit foul language, there was totally a priest in the audience who HATED us, and James Brown almost saw us perform. ha.

For now, some pictures. I still get really excited when I actually wear one of my handknits to work/play/real life, since I'm just now getting to the point where I knit things that I can wear a lot. So, I snapped a picture of my Cutaway when I wore it to work last week:

Yep, I wore it. And it looked like a sweater.

Yay, wearable knits. Here's another success: one finished Sockapaloooza sock!

It fits - I've tried it on two people. They had clean feet.

I'm so excited about this sock! Garter Rib, using the fabulous Sensational Knitted Socks. I've already cast on for sock #2 - and it's not even due until May! I'm on time! Woo-hoo! Exclamation points all around!

And for those who aren't sick of dog pictures, Jacob caught Bella lounging on my pillow and took this picture of her:

Please. I'm relaxing.

Schmoo. I'm hoping to print this one and hang it in my office, because my dog is that. cute.

More knitting pictures this week. I've finished the onesie, except for the soufflet (which I think is French for the piece of fabric that you put in between the tiny legs of a baby onesie to give the baby more room). It's the one part of the directions that I'm having trouble translating. We shall see how that goes...

And, this week I started seriously working on grad school stuff: recommendations, application, statement of purpose. I'm applying for two programs that are very similar in hopes that one will accept me. Can I bribe the admissions committee with handknitted goodness? I know throwing some yarn my way could sway my decisions...JUST KIDDING. Acccckkkkk.

Bella is so beautiful! cutie pie!

You almost met James Brown? Do tell!

Your sweater is lovely! And it coordinates so well with your skirt. Love those socks too!

Your pup looks so comfy. I really like the cutaway! I was thinking of giving that a go now that I have my first shrug completed (I'm a relatively new knitter). It looks cute on you!

Bella looks so blissful! My dog is jealous. And I love the cutaway--so pretty and fits you perfect!

Your cutaway looks splendid! I know exactly what you mean about wearing knitted things - I'm doing it more and more these days and I love it! That picture of Bella is totally adoreable - never bored of seeing photos of her :)

You're completely right (for the soufflet).
The Cutaway sweater is really nice.
Greetings from France.

Love the cut-a-way and the sock. I just finished my first sock, made it out of cotton fleece by Lambs Spun in bright purple. I am working on sock # 2 and a Noro silk garden sweater. I love knitting!!!

Best wishes with grad school!!! How exciting.

Carrie! I didn't know this was you until Jessica emailed me just now and told me. I said, "I wondered who the Carrie was who left a note on my blog." Hey - thanks for the compliment you left me!

David is in a band up in Athens as well. He plays lead guitar. They're just starting out, though, so have only played somewhere once.

I like your socks! Jess is obsessed with knitting. Take care!

Your Bella and my Pitch (a black cat who probably weighs as much as Bella) have a common hobby. I like to think Pitch is keeping my place warm until I get home. Papel, on the other hand, favors my husband and I am convinced he is trying to usurp my space when I leave. The Cutaway is mighty fine and I love your sleeve modifications--very nice!

Love the socks! Your pal is going to be so pleased. And love the pic of sleeping Bella! Soooo cute. Definitely frame-worthy.
Good luck with your apps!

OMG. Bella is the CUTEST ever. SCHMOOMEE. Wormee Worm!!!!

I wish I could come with you to grad school!!! We could be studybuddies. Hahahaha.

Cutaway (still) looks awesome! I love knits that you actually wear!!! Also -- the skirt you're wearing looks like it might be super cute too!!!!

Can't wait to hear more about the wedding!!!

Firstley--Your DOG is so darn cute! Which pattern did you use for the cutaway sweater? I Love it and would like to make it.....thanks Edna

Ok, seriously, that's the cutest picture I've ever seen...the schmoo (although the other things look adorable!)...and you know how I feel about MY schmoo. Talk to you soon crafty!

good luck on grad school applications! i'm sure you'll get in. and cutaway looks great -- i'm also always proud when i finally wear something that i've made.

Oh man, that must've been one fun wedding. Your cutaway is awesome, I'm glad you get to wear it regularly.

Bella is the cutest doggie ever.

Bella - her name and the lighting in that picture says it all - a gal relaxing on HER pillow. I tell people all the time that my dog's toys BELONG TO ME but I think they know better - everything belongs to THEM! Love the cutaway and the socks - such accomplishment. AS has already been said, any grad program that gets you is SOOoo lucky - why, you will probably even be accepted to programs you don't even apply to!!
And you coulda' so played at mine and sweetie's wedding - why he had his overalls on - he was ready to do some southen' rockin'.

i want you to play at my wedding too!
awww, little wormy worm so cute!

I offered to knit the entire admissions office at Tufts cashmere socks. They didn't admit me, thus proving that people at grad school offices are far dumber than the ones they don't admit. :) Good luck with Grad School!

And also, as one of the sock tryer-on people, that thing is so comfortable! Your sock pal is going to love it!

Bella is SOO cute in that picture. She is like a little person. A little fur person lounging about.
If I ever get married, will you play at my wedding? You can use foul language if you like.

Hooray for a lovely cutaway! I also wear my to work fairly often and fill with joy over how partical it is. This idea of wearability brings up a whole bunch of questions though, like which of your knits you do consider wearable and why or why not? What do you do with them if you don't wear them? Makes me think about my own projects, too.

Rock it on the grad school stuff, lady!

Good luck on grad school application stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if both programs accepted you.

The Cutaway is fantastic. I really think I'm going to have to knit this. Bella is the cutest schmoo ever.

Cutaway looks great! Bella is a cutie!

Cutaway looks great! It must be so nice to wear your handknits at work - every now and again you can take a break to admire it's knitted fabulousness.

Good luck with the grad stuff - try not to stress too much!

Were you AT LEAST as good as the Boy George impersonator band from The Wedding Singer?? If so, then I'm sure you left the bride/groom with a highly memorable wedding reception. Great cutaway! FO's! Tres jealous!

Soufflet? I think I made one of those in home ec one time. Do not dance around the oven. It will fall.

My prediction: You will get accepted into not one, but BOTH graduate programs. Easily. They will be lucky to have you.

those are some purdy purple socks! that's one lucky sockapaloooza pal.

good luck with the grad school stuff!!

Everything looks great, but I love Bella most of all.

Bella is a schmoo.

I like your cutaway!

Your show sounds like SO. MUCH. FUN.
