Spring Break!
That's right, it's Spring Break around these parts. Now, I still have to come to work, but all the students are gone and Athens is a quiet little town....ahhhhhh. SO. NICE. Easy parking downtown, no line at the coffee shop, happy Carrieoke.
You know what else makes for a happy Carrieoke? NEW. YARN.

Beautiful yarn from Betsy of Hip Chics Knit.
Lovely Betsy gifted me with this fabulous yarn - the baby silk is seriously soft and yummy and edible, and the sock yarns are fabulous too! I've been wanting to see what the KnitPicks Simple Stripes looks like knit up...Thanks Betsy!
Then, I won a contest over at Not Scarlett, and I got *more* yumminess in the mail!

Um, hi. I'm a lucky schmoo.
This is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in a fabulous melonygreenypurplypinky colorway. I can NOT wait to see what it looks like when it's knit. goodygoodygoody...thank you Sarah!!
Goodness. It's almost more than a girl can handle. ALMOST. Of course, all of this deliciousness must wait until I finish Gift Knitting:

I can't tell you what this is going to be.
I can tell you that it's Cotton Fleece, in Wild Sage and Cotton Ball. hee.
So, I'm knitting my little hands off to get this sucker done by the end of the week. Luckily, it's a tiny thing (hint!), so it's doable.
Oh, you guessed it! It's a rugby sweater for Bella.
Just kidding.
Well, I should go do some filing. This weather (that would be sunny and in the 70s) makes me want to shirk all of my responsibilities and lay around outside all day with knitting and beer. However, I am (mostly) a good schmoo, so I'm going to save the debauchery for the weekend. I *will* turn my iTunes up REALLY LOUD in my office though. Scandal!

Great yarn! It's Spring Break here as well, and it's quite delightful -- parking to be had without circling the campus 25 times.

Lovely, lovely yarny stuff - I gotta' seek out more of these here contest thingies! Spring break here at the UT in Memphis is next week - it will be very quiet BUT we're already getting ready for June inventory so we'll be busy but it'll be nice for it to be slow!

Gorgeous yarn! I used to love when UGA was out for a 'holiday' because the town was so much quieter and easier to get around in.. even if it does seem like a ghost town without the students.
I've got 2 for you about your Tube Cami from Glampyre: Did you only use one skein of Cotton Fleece for the whole cami? Also.. did you use size 5 needles throughout or did you switch to size 8's like the pattern mentions? Just wondering because I've just started the pattern today (and this blasted Georgia weather just turned cold again!!) and I like the look of your version better than the one in the pattern. thanks :)

oooh, Such yummy yarn. I'm jealous that people gift you with such goodness but heck, if you are knitting gifts for others, you deserve it.
:)

Ah, the best part about working at colleges is when the students leave. I miss that. Also, I just knit up some socks in that exact Simple Stripes colorway on size 2s - I'd recommend size 1s instead...

Lovely pretties there to inspire you! I, too, am thrilled that Athens is quieter this week. I'm heading to campus Wednesday--will you be around?

Don't you love Spring Break!! Who needs to go somewhere on vacation when everyone at work is gone. That is a vacation in itself. Ahhhhh... the wonders of working in education. There has to be some benefit to it cause we (or at least I) know it's not for the money!
