Lace Leaf Pullover.
I have lots of pictures to show you from this weekend's Bling shenanigans...and there were shenanigans. But first, some long promised pictures!
I finally got the Pants to take some pictures of me in my Lace Leaf Pullover. I love this sweater! It's a little roomier than I thought it was going to be, but I like how comfortable it is, and I can wear it with jeans or to work with pants and it looks pretty good both ways.

Bella Schmoo likes it too.
Things I changed: I only did the lace leaf on the top of the sweater to avoid the grafting. (What can I say? I'm kind of a wimp about a big line of grafting in the middle of my sweater.) I also skipped the lace on the right sleeve (it's a yarnover lace motif down the middle of the sleeve, and it just wasn't working for me.) I also changed the collar a bit: instead of the longer ribbing and the button, I did about four rows of twisted rib in smaller needles and then bound off. The collar stands up just a little, and I really like the way it turned out. I seriously re-did the collar 7 or 8 times.

This is my serious pose.
I also had some trouble with the sleeve caps. My gauge was WAY off, so I had to do some major math, and my calculations didn't work out very well for the sleeves. I finally had to give up and say, well, even if they aren't perfect, they are wearable.

I think they're wearable.
I'll definitely wear this sweater a bunch, and it even looks cute with a collared shirt underneath. Love the yarn (Knit Picks Sierra) and LOVE the color. I don't have enough rich red in my wardrobe.
YAY knitting success! I'm finally making sweaters that I'll wear! Who knew? More postiness later this week with Bling pictures and fun times.

Fabulous job on the lace leaf sweater! I think it looks seriously wearable - much more so than any other photo I have seen of it. The colour is awsome, and I think all your modifications worked out very well (I'm digging the collar). Congratulations on a job well done!

Carrie! How impossibly cute are you and Bella? The Lace Leaf is really lovely! I like the sleeves as they are, and I like that you out some of the lace leafing...Fun fun!!

Lovely! I love the color on you. Where is the pattern from again?
I also had some issues with sleeves lately. You are more dedicated than me... I just knitted them as they were... and now they are HUGE!

Love it. It looks so good!
(Don't you just love how many comments you get whenever you post about an FO? Maybe that's why I have so few commenters. No FO's= little comments. Ha ha. Oh well.)

I don't blame you for fearing the mid-sweater grafting. I think the sweater look fabulous, and I like how you modified the neckline.

It definitely has a great "this is comfy but I can dress it up, too" look - like it's good for the weekend but has a little spice witht he lace pattern. Once again, you show your knitting prowess, congrats!

The sweater looks fantastic on you! Kudos on a beautiful new FO!
Posted by Rossana | March 6, 2006 10:41 PM
It looks great! The idea of grafting in the middle of a sweater kind of scares me off too. But it works well without the other leaf.
Posted by Stacy | March 6, 2006 10:36 PM
it looks really great! ive been wanting to tackle that project for awhile and have been nervous about it. can i just say im so glad you recommend and list the yarns you use on projects? even though i havent been knitting much lately, i think it is extremely helpful for future projects i want to tackle.
Posted by erika | March 6, 2006 10:28 PM
Yay! Lace Leaf turned out great. I think the modifications you made were smart ones and the fit really works for you. :)
Posted by Karma | March 6, 2006 10:27 PM
Nice work! I'm glad you're validating the softness of sierra - I have been looking to get some, and I'm pretty picky about what goes against the skin, ya know?
Posted by Julsey | March 6, 2006 10:25 PM
Hooray! I've been waiting anxiously for the result, and it's tremendous; congrats. I'm still working on mine with the Sierra, and it's okay so far, but I'm too chicken to start the grafting so I definitely understand your decision to skip it.
