Random.
It's Friday, wheeeeeeeeeeeeee. This week has flown by, and maybe it's because I'm rockin' the rental car. Hells yeah. Turns out my car is going to take until next Friday, but luckily my insurance company covers some of the rental cost. I'm just happy to be safe and have some transportation.
This weekend? I will be relaxing. And probably cleaning. And also knitting on this sock:

Purple ribbing sure is purdy.
It's my sock for my sock pal, and I'm using one of the 4 stitch ribbing patterns in Sensational Knitted Socks - it's a really simple garter stitch rib, and it looks COOL. Dude. this book is REALLY fun! This is the first time that I've used it to knit socks - highly recommended. There are so many options, and as long as you know what your gauge is, you can go crazy. superfuntimes.com.
In other knitting news, the Lace Leaf is finally done, but I have no pictures. BAD SCHMOO. I have actually worn it a couple of times, and I like, although it's boxier than I thought it was going to be. Pictures this weekend. When I'm not relaxing.
And! We celebrated Leslie's birthday last night.

They don't call her Photogenic Leslie for nothing.
There was talk last night of running the Chicago Marathon in October. Now, that may have been the wine talking, but I think they were serious. Who's with me?!!! (I'm actually not sure if *I'm* with me yet, but we'll see. I'm seriously considering it.)
Ooh! I saw a preview copy of Mason-Dixon Knitting at the yarn store. DUDE. This book looks so freakin' awesome. I'm super excited! Yay for Ann and Kay!
Okay. Enough randomness. I need to go drink some coffee and work. Have a safe and happy weekend!!

I am thinking about running Chicago, too! I have heard that it's really flat, which makes it a good marathon for beginners. I'm currently training for a half marathon in April, so I just might be getting ahead of myself :)

Such a pretty sock - do tell on the yarn. my BF Cheryl LOVES purple and I do need to make the girl a pair!
You go girl on that Marathon. Puppy girl #2 is going to my former TN neighbor who moved back to OH, now in IN but selling house and moving to Chicago so I just might have to go visit her - BUT there will be no marathoning here - I'm still walkin' (more like strollin') two miles in the cemetary while I walk my aging labbie-dors (that's WHY I don't run - what a great excuse!!)

Yarn. In mail right now. Headed towards your house.
And honestly? I don't think anyone from Athens can take a bad pic. You, AM, HEJ, Leslie...all y'all always look PERFECT. It makes me wanna puke. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Fall in the Windy City is gorgeous! (My favorite time of year here, actually.) I live and work in Chicago, so I'd be happy to make suggestions for places to stay/eat/shop/knit if you decide to run the marathon.

Is your sock made with Trekking XXL? I made one of my friends socks for Christmas with Trekking and it looked exactly like that, all pretty and stripey and purple. I need to get some more of that for me!

Dude, the Chicago Marathon rocks. When we lived there, we used to live on the marathon path and one of Monkey's best friends used to fly in from NYC every year or so to run it. We could roll on out of the apartment building and cheer him on just in time. Wish I was still there (for the marathon part)! The day after our wedding a few years back, one of my bridesmaids and one of Monkey's groomsmen (the dude from NYC) ran the marathon. It will rock, if you do it!

Ummm.. I'm pretty sure we actually recruited a few people for the marathon. Now we really can't back out! Scary.

Yay for weekend knitting and relaxing! Love the purple ribbing. Just the thought of a marathon is a bit much for me--but if anyone can do it, you can! Go for it!!

Go team marathoning schmoo! You should totally go for it in Chicago. A lot of my training buddies - including the hubbo - are planning to run it; I'll at least be there for moral support, if not in the race itself. It's a flat, fast course and a supergoodtimes.com with all the crowd support. Yay marathons!

WOOHOO! Hey, Chicago is only 100 miles from where I live. If you do run, I'll be there to cheer on Team Schmoo!

Yay for relaxing weekends! I have the Sensational Sock book and I think there are too many options for me. I can't decide! But your socks look great. Chicago Marathon? Sounds good, but does that mean no Rhinebeck?!?!

Hey, nifty sock! The real reason I am commenting (as opposed to my normal lurking) is that I am thinking about running the Chicago Marathon too! Keep us updated on your plans... maybe we need a running knitter button or something!

I'm all, "Ho-hum! None of my favorite blogs on the spot this morning...lalala.....Ho! what's this? Carrieoke? I must click!"
So thanks for brightening my day.
Nice purple ribbing. Makes me want to drop my Jaywalker and run! Run! Over to your purple yarn.
However, I'm not with you on the running over to chicago for a little marathon, though. You're all on your own there.
But your friend Leslie (my cosmic birthday twin) is definitely photogenic. Must be that bone structure! If she's my twin, I'll take her!
