Tubey
Tubey, in pictures:

Tubey, right after arriving to her new home.
Tubey at work:

The teacher is wearing Tubey.
Cathy actually did wear it to work today! She told one of her classes that I knitted the sweater, and one of her students said, "That's the tightest thing you've worn all year." Tight = cool. Sweet. (That's how I roll - I'm down with the kids these days.)
This pattern is by the lovely Cassie and can be found in the most recent Knitty. I used 8 balls of Elann's Peruvian Alpaca and size 6 circs to knit the XS, and I didn't change an inch of the pattern. Love the pattern, love the neckline, love the yarn. Love love love.
I will be starting mine tonight. Doesn't my sister look fabulous in this sweater?! Yay for successful knits. In terms of finishing and fit, this is one of my best knits thus far. I'm a proud schmoo!

Long time lurker, but I just couldn't resist a comment this time. It looks PHENOMENAL. It is "tight." I didn't really care for the pattern until now. Hmmm.... maybe I need to knit this for the Olympics??
Great job. Be proud.

I'll bet your sister is the hot teacher that the kids will remember in days to come...especially in the tubey.

Add Tubey to the list of "Things I now want to knit because I saw them Carrieoke's blog" list. Looks fabulous!
Posted by Stacey | January 22, 2006 11:14 PM
It looks sooooo great. You're making want to knit one, even though it looks like it uses teeny little needles. Your sis is one lucky chica.
Posted by Zarah | January 22, 2006 9:42 PM
1) Cathy is hot in that sweater!
2) That is the best thing you've ever knitted. It's all pro and shit.
3) No one seems to read your blog. At all. ;-);-);-)

(in best Irish Pirate voice): Aaaarrrh! 'Tis a faboo knit indeed!

You SHOULD be proud! I love it. The fit and the color are perfect on your sis. I love this pattern and would love to make it... hmm, perhaps next winter. Looking forward to seeing yours. Great work, C.

The Tubey IS very tight. You have definately made me want to knit one. What colour will yours be?
Posted by Allison | January 22, 2006 9:40 AM
Great job on the tubey! It looks great on your sis! Can't wait to see yours!
Congrats on passing the GRE!

Fab, fab, fab! I overlooked that sweater in the issue because of the striping--I really like the solid version. Excellent work!
Posted by Anita | January 21, 2006 12:53 PM
Hooray for Tubey! It really does look super cool, I love it! I want one too now :)
It's an ace pattern.
Posted by jen | January 21, 2006 12:00 PM
That looks great. The fit is perfect!
Posted by cari | January 21, 2006 11:42 AM
Yes, your sister looks totally HOT in that Tubey and you will too, in yours! I like the neckline and it looks like it would cover a bra no problemo. Aw, you have a lucky sister. :)
Posted by Karma | January 21, 2006 2:28 AM
Beautiful! You did well, it's very pretty :) I've been wanting to make my own Tubey, and after seeing yours, it seems like I'll be shopping for the yarn soon enough :)
Posted by ariane | January 20, 2006 11:29 PM
That tubey came out perfect for her. She is a lucky person!
Posted by Barb | January 20, 2006 11:13 PM
It turned out WONDERFUL! Congratulations!! Your sis looks ravishing in it :)
Posted by Amy | January 20, 2006 10:33 PM
OMG!
That came out so great!
Congrats!
Was the instructions accurate?
Awesome. You wear it well.
Posted by Charisse | January 20, 2006 10:24 PM
You did an awesome job and your sister looks great in it!!! I wish I had the body to wear this style....I looked longingly at it in Knitty but decided it wouldn't work on my fat self....oh well.
Posted by Norah | January 20, 2006 9:46 PM
Wow, looks awesome! You have inspired me to make this my knitting for the Knitting Olympics that the Yarn Harlot is hosting. I was thinking of doing it in knitpicks Andean Silk....any thoughts? I've never worked with it before, but I've heard good things about it. One more thing, what size does Cathy normally wear? I'm usually a 4, which can teeter between S and XS and I'm afraid of knitting it too loose or tight (the traditional meaning of the word) and then it won't be tight (cool-kid meaning of the word). Whatcha think?
Posted by Karen | January 20, 2006 9:21 PM
de-lurking again to say it's fabooooo!! i'm casting on for mine tonight :)
Posted by brenda in toronto | January 20, 2006 7:40 PM
Holy mackerel, your sister is HOT! I'm totally casting on for that sweater tonight. Even though I won't look half as good as Cathy in it. . .
Well done, chica. It looks beautiful.
Posted by jodi | January 20, 2006 6:25 PM
That is one nice looking sweater. I've got to start making more sweaters.
Posted by Dena | January 20, 2006 6:10 PM
"Tight," not the opposite of loose but "fresh." Guess the kids don't say fresh anymore. Darn.
Had to come over from the Tubey KAL to say I salute you. Purple's not my color but your Tubey is making me change my mind! I luv it. Your knitting looks great, so smooth and perfect. And you didn't do anything to the sleeves?
Posted by sappmama | January 20, 2006 6:07 PM
Okay, you did it. I just whipped out the credit card and ordered the yarn for my very own Tubey. Nevermind that I have a dozen other things and heaven knows I have no shortage of yarn. But that beautiful purple...well, I had to have it.
Your sweater turned out absolutely gorgeous and it looks great on your sis.
Posted by Gina | January 20, 2006 5:27 PM
Yay for Tubey! I totally love this sweater and I am going to wear it all of the time.
Full disclosure:
1. I am wearing a strapless bra
2. I am also wearing a little tank underneath it, too (I am paranoid about sweaters being see-through at school)
3. It is not itchy and I have REALLY sensitive skin
Carrie is the best twin sister-schmoo-knitter ever!!
Posted by Cathy | January 20, 2006 5:19 PM
yo yo yo - that tubey is TIGHT! I'm so street. But seriously, it looks great!! Good job!! And yes, my cats are VERY cute. Elvis is in the box again today.
Posted by marissa | January 20, 2006 5:17 PM
Why did you have to do this to me? Before I saw Cathy's I didn't need to knit Tubey, but now I think I do. :-) It looks great!
Posted by sarah b. | January 20, 2006 5:17 PM
It's hella tight, yo!
Seriously, though: it is. It's on my list- watching you make it, I kept thinking it seems like a fun knit. Looks great, congrats!
Posted by Mary-Heather | January 20, 2006 5:04 PM
Awesome! Love it! It's "dope"...LOL
Posted by Roxanne | January 20, 2006 5:02 PM
Tubey looks awesome. It will be a great post-Olympic sweater.
Posted by Kat | January 20, 2006 5:02 PM
Love it! I looked at the pattern on Knitty when you mentioned it, and was underwhelmed by the stripes. (Being on the large side, anything ribbed with horizontal stripes is fashion death for me.) The solid color is amazing, though, and I totally want this sweater now.
Posted by Carrie | January 20, 2006 5:01 PM
Cathie looks great in Tubey! I think you may have swayed me to knit one. Can't wait to see yours!
Posted by Kelly | January 20, 2006 4:57 PM
The sweater is gorgeous, and so is Cathy. I can't wait until my yarn
arrives so I can get started copying you! I picked out a dark red in the
Debbie Bliss Cashmerino as recommended, because I'm in love with that
stuff and don't understand the meaning of money, but I love the yarn you
used too--so soft, and gorgeous color. Thanks for sharing!
Posted by Courtney | January 20, 2006 4:42 PM
WOWZA! Cathy looks AWESOME in the Tubey! Good job, Carrie! What color is yours going to be? Congrats again on kicking butt on the GREs! Happy Weekending!
Posted by Rossana | January 20, 2006 4:03 PM
I love this and it's in my favorite color too. Two questions, did you find the yarn itchy while knitting? Does Cathy find it itchy while wearing?
Posted by Wanett | January 20, 2006 4:02 PM
Wow..that looks seriously awesome. I LOVE it in the solid color. It just moved WAY up on my to knit list! And I be the alpaca was dreamy to knit with!
Posted by Heather | January 20, 2006 3:59 PM
Love it! It looks great - I love that color too - I thought I wanted one with stripes but now I think I want a plain one - gorgeous!!
Posted by Vicki | January 20, 2006 3:53 PM
the sweater is awesome! that may be the first sweater i think i am capable of knitting and that i would like. your sister looks really fabulous in it too!
Posted by jennifer | January 20, 2006 3:47 PM
YAY!!! Tubey!!! It looks sooooo good! Geez, I gotta make one. LOVE IT!
Posted by allison | January 20, 2006 3:43 PM
I'm sure it dates me that I remember when things were "crunk tight" before they were just "tight." Either way, a successful Tubey. I really like the solid color version.
Posted by anne | January 20, 2006 3:42 PM
it's perfect, i LOVE IT. TOTALLY tight. and holy shit CONGRATS ON YOUR GREs!!!!!
Posted by Lara | January 20, 2006 3:34 PM
Perfect! I love it.
Posted by Stacy | January 20, 2006 3:30 PM
It looks freaking amazing on her! Definitely tight :)
Posted by Vicki | January 20, 2006 3:26 PM
It looks great. I just love the neckline on that sweater . . .
Posted by --Deb | January 20, 2006 3:24 PM
Tubey looks so great on your sister, which means that it will look great on you as well. I like it without the stripes as well.
Posted by Gina | January 20, 2006 3:22 PM
That's a beaut! Gorgeous. I love it. Very flattering all around. What more is there to say except YAY!
Posted by Marnie | January 20, 2006 3:11 PM
Fabulous! I've been dying to see a finished Tubey on the nets, and now I have - and it looks just as good as the Knitty version. Fantastic!
Posted by SpaceCase | January 20, 2006 3:04 PM
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
Looks better on sisterschmoo than on the original model--and it looked good on her. I might take a second look at this pattern--its lovely without the stripes too.
Great job!
Posted by suzanne | January 20, 2006 2:54 PM
Awesome! And I love the picture of Cathy pointing to the word "diction." But I gotta say, the kids in Atlanta are way behind the times. Kids in Oxford, OH were saying "tight" 10 years ago. How do I know this? My first year teaching included the following dialogue:
Student: Those boots are *tight*.
Me: Actually, they're quite comfortable.
(crickets.)
Posted by Em | January 20, 2006 2:51 PM
Very nice! It looks really elegant in a solid color. You made me rethink this pattern. Now it's time to go consult my stash! =)
Posted by Angela | January 20, 2006 2:43 PM
Cathy looks great in it! What a perfect project. One question: do bra straps show at any point? If it passed the no-bra strap test for a day of Cathy teaching then I'm positive it would for me too. That one is goin on the list for sure!
Posted by Kate | January 20, 2006 2:38 PM
Perfect! Can't wait to see yours! Really, a great knit!
Posted by Cara | January 20, 2006 2:33 PM
