This Entry is Probably Too Long.

It's Monday.

My weekend was full of good times. On Friday I celebrated Jenna's birthday with the girls, which included jumping out to surprise Jenna about two minutes after she'd already come inside the house, eating large amounts of Mellow Mushroom pizza, and trying on all the clothes that Jenna and Leslie were planning to give to Goodwill. (Note to Jenna and Leslie: you must NEVER give to Goodwill first. Always to me. Always.) We went downtown for drinks after that, but my night had already reached its pinnacle when I scored two new pairs of pants, a maroon skirt, and many cute shirts. Hell yes.

Saturday was shoe shopping day. And I mean RUNNING SHOE. Me and HEJ drove down to Cat's house and we all went to Fleet Feet Duluth for a shoe fitting and good times. I didn't realize that they actually VIDEOTAPE you running and then help you find a shoe that fits the way you run. How cool is that? I didn't tell the guy that he had the treadmill up WAY TOO HIGH for me because I didn't want to seem like too much of a wimp, but clearly I didn't have to run on Saturday because I got my exercise running for the videocamera. Cathy and I ended up getting the same shoes...twinsies. The guy said our feet are exactly the same. (Does that mean that I've already run a marathon too??) Although you may not think that buying running shoes sounds like a barrel of fun, with Cathy and HEJ, it's mad fun. CRAZY fun. I'm not kidding. There are pictures.

Then, Saturday night, I hung out some more. I got to chill with lots of friends, including AM, Dixie Chick Jenny, Chip and Cheap Date Courtney (that's a newly acquired nickname, courtesy of Anne Marie). I also finally got to meet Jodi, who is really funny and also knows how to save the money on the yarn. I need to learn that. In addition, I got really tipsy and decided to showcase my ability to stick my fist in my mouth. Now, this particular, er, skill is interesting to people, but lemme tell ya something - if you can stick your fist in your mouth, DON'T LET ANYONE TAKE A PICTURE. Seriously. There is a picture of me now that looks like ... an old alien man eating a human sandwich. It would make babies cry.

But where is the knitting? Well, I've been after Jacob to help me make my blog photo shoots cuter, ya know, with natural light and romantic trees all around and me looking wistful in the corner. Jacob said that I need to stop asking him to take pictures at night when the only available light is inside. D'oh. I remembered that yesterday, and here are some of the resulting pictures:

Amazing fabric that HEJ brought me from Hawaii.

Shrug in progress.

Ribbon scarf, destined for secret worthy recipient.

The shrug is the One Skein Wonder, knit with Paton's Katrina, which is a totally fun stretchy yarn with a little bit of sheen. I'm planning on making some sort of sexy clingy top situation with some Katrina sometime soon.

As you can see, the shrug wasn't completed during optimum blogphotoshoot hours, but I did finish it last night. So, here are the poorly lit, not wistful pictures of my shrug.

I love my new shrug.

So there you have it. This wordy and picture heavy blog entry was brought to you by Starbuck's French Roast. coffeecoffeecoffee.

Hmmmm...suddenly, I'm craving coffee. Starbucks coffee. How odd....

Looks great!

Oh Carrie I love the shrug and it's such a great colour. It also really makes me wish I could knit :-)

You said two words that drew me in: Shrug and Starbucks ;)

I need to make me one of those OSW's.

I kinda think you look the MOST wistful in the one that's not SUPPOSEd to be wistful. hrmmmmmm.

your minisweater looks mighty cute there, girlie :) (as does the scarf and mostly everything you make. word.)

Love, love, love the shrug. Looks great on you. And the wistful scarf photo is killer! I want to take cuter blog photos, too, but it's hard to be wistful when you're thinking about when the self-timer on your camera is going off! Practice will make perfect, I'm sure.

You look SO CUTE in that shrug. Photos are looking fab. And you know that I love that fabric that our HEJ sent you, right???

xo,
B

OMG - too funny - thanks AM for posting that pic on your blog - I'm sure Carrie "wanted" us to see it - she just didn't want to appear too proud. Beautiful artful pics of the knitting - someone's gonna' want that scarf pic for a book cover - do you get money for that? Maybe you can just quit the new job and start modeling for book covers.

Love the scarf and I think I must get the pattern for the one Skein Wonder, I have seen so many of them and I really want one.

I love the shrug...what is this mellow mushroom? sounds lovely!

I can stick a coke can in my mouth. I've never tried a fist. mmmm. interesting. What does this say about us?

I'm still laughing over Mellow Mushroom Pizza.

I thought that treadmill was too high too. I made him turn it down. ;-)

Mellow mushroom pizza? That must only be legal in Georgia.

The pictures really do look fabulous! You can see all the lovely shading and subtle coloration. I should really try to use natural light more often, but it's hard when you live in a veritable underground cave.

Happy Monday! Cute scarf and shrug!

That comment about how this post is sponsored by Starbucks? Reminded me of that old VW commercial with a young espresso-machine salesperson buzzing around in her Volkswagen at top speed, and at the very end she says, "I've GOT to cut down on the caffeine!" That's exactly what your post reminded me of, and then, boom, "Thanks Starbucks!" It made me giggle. Glad you had such a great weekend.

That sounds like the coolest way to buy shoes ever!!! I think stores that sell dress shoes should totally film your feet while you strut down a catwalk or something :) As always, your FOs are lovely.

I stopped putting my fist in my mouth at parties and other festive occasions when I realized that I have terrible TMJ problems and that sometimes my mouth won't shut. It sticks in yawn position. You should NOT do that...think braces, surgery, and maybe another headgear. BAD SCHMOO.

YAY new running shoes! YAY fun times with Jenny! YAY twinsies!

A fellow fist-in-the-mouther! I have the same talent - it's really bad when your friends make you do it at a bar filled with cheezy guys!

Love the shrug. Just one skein of Katrina?

Hee hee, I'd already seen the photo of you w/ fist BEFORE I read your post from today! Love the One Skein Wonder, I just made one in black and am going for #2. My hubby works in a running store where they video you and watch you run and stuff and it's hard work to be a customer there! You actually have to basically do your whole workout! :-)

The pictures look great! Too bad I have to be at work when all the good light is available! That fabric is so pretty! Made any plans for it yet?

I have the alien sandwich picture on my blog. I wonder if Carrie will ever speak to me again. Likely not.

You know, that whole 'fist in the mouth' thing might be particularly appealing to a certain group of the population...Men tend to like to see how much of something you can get in your mouth, you know? Just in case they grow 4 more inches of length and about a 3 inches in diameter.

The pictures looks great. I wish I had a photographer around instead of trying to do my best, which is generally crappy, with the lighting or placement of items. And I am lucky if a cat ass or ear or my big toe isn't in the picture.

Love the new artsy shots, the shrug is adorable, and the scarf is super duper pretty and gives me scarf envy. And yes, please, you must show us the picture. You cannot give us that incredible visual and then not supply a pic.

Thank god there are other people out there that can stick their fist in their mouth. I am forever trying to live down the fact that I showed my now husband the fist-in-mouth routine on our first date. No, I do not know what is wrong with me. I was nervous. When I'm out of sorts I do strange things that make total sense at the time. Like put my fist in my mouth.

There is a picture of me now that looks like ... an old alien man eating a human sandwich. It would make babies cry.
