Happy Happy Joy Joy
Things are happyhappyhappy in CarrieokeLand right now. Yay. Here are some reasons for the happy:
1. The new job is great. I won't really be saying much about that on here, but just know that the people are nice, the environment is better, and I am 100% sure that I am in the right place. And it feels awesome. Yahoo.
2. I went to the local yarn store on Tuesday to spend a birthday gift certificate. For starters, they had two bite brownies on the table for customers to eat (if you've had two bite brownies, ya know what I'm talkin' about. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Chocolate.) Then, I discover a massively huge sale and I got enough Cotton Fine for two more Flower Basket shawls. And maybe a tank top. Or a scarf. Then I got sock yarn. Then I got Cotton Fleece. Um, hell yeah. Wanna see?

yarny yarn yarn yarn.
Here's the Lorna's Laces up close ... this colorway is so cool.

Can't. Stop. Buying. Sock. Yarn.
I love buying sock yarn and getting it wound into a ball, because it looks so pretty when it's hanging on the rack, and then it gets wound up and you see all these colors that maybe you didn't see before. FUN TIMES.
I'm using the Cotton Fleece (that's the pretty blue-green yarn) for a cami that I'm test-knitting for Glampyre Stef. I'm about halfway finished and I love knitting with Cotton Fleece. I used it to make the Chevron Tank (clicky for gallery pic) a long time ago, and I'd forgotten what a nice fabric this yarn makes. Here's the proof:

It's going really quickly.
3. Jacob has a new job and he has to wear suits and he looks so cute in them.
4. For the first time in probably four years (yes, this is slightly embarrassing), I renewed the registration on my car BEFORE I got pulled over for an expired tag. I realize that this is completely ridiculous, but for some reason I always put it off and I inevitably get pulled over. BUT NOT THIS YEAR! Oh, no. I'm turning over a new leaf, which means I can be an adult about it and just drive to the damn tag place and get it renewed. HOORAY. And I even got an animal friend tag. I've ALWAYS WANTED ONE.
Because of all these happy things, I will not be frustrated that last night, the gas station accidentally charged me $80 at the pump instead of the $20 that I put in. Harumph. Instead, I will focus on the happy.

Cotton fleece is my FAVORITE yarn. I made a chickami and cardigan with it this summer, and I think I'm going to use it to make a Miss Dashwood hat from Knitty. Yay.
Hey, where do I get a purling puppy button?

Love the Lorna's Lace's colorway. It's gorgeous. As are you in the muumuu from the last post. Hee hee.

I miss all the good yarn trips. Whine. Roll around on floor sobbing. ;-)

So glad that the job's going well. YAY!
I just stocked up on Cotton Fine as well. I was gonna be so good and not buy much, but then they told me about the sale and I had to go all out. I remembered that you used it for the flower basket shawl, so I got enough for two as well!

Cerrie...I'm so happy for you that you are happy! Congrats on all the good & positive things in your life right now! ;-)

Great new yarns! Heather loves Cotton Fleece too, but I have yet to try it... perhaps it is high time.
Have a good weekend, Carrie!

Well Chica, if you wanna be a whore in this day and age, a yarn whore is the way to go. Nice haul and that sock yarn is gorgeous. Yum-mee!
I could make a joke about gas in California already costing $80--but I won't. I'd just cry. What we can do here in CA is renew our tags online. NO DMV! Unless of course you're vain and want a new picture on your driver's license to accurately reflect your haircolor of the moment...yeah yeah...So good work you pseudo adult!

You yarn whore!
I am ridiculously jealous right now. I want some yarn now. I am glad to know you like that cotton fleece and cotton fine, because I am always thinking about trying it, but never know. NOw I do...

Congrats on the new job! We spend too much time at work to be unhappy there. Glad to hear it's working out well! I love those colors of the Lorna's Lace!

can't wait to see the glampyre cami. and i'm jealous of your cotton fleece. there were skeins of that color ON SALE at my LYS -- but it was because they were damaged and had streaks. i am such a cheapskate that i almost purchased them, but who needs a tie dyed sweater?

Good for you for renewing your tags! It's so scary driving around with expired tags knowing that any cop that might crawl up behind you will pull you over! I've totally done that before too! What is Jacob doing now?? Forgive me if you mentioned it in another posting :( All your yarn looks like fun! Can I commission you to knit me a flower basket shawl?? :)

I miss Georgia alot sometimes (lived in Savannah for six years). The license plate reminded me how much fun I had down there.

YAY for you and your doggie/kitty tag which is 100% legal! Good girl, Carrieoke!
I bet Mr. Jacob Wears Makeup looks great in his suits. And I bet you look beautiful and happy at your new job!
Score.
Oh, and your yarn all looks totally gorgeous. I'm glad there's not a yarn store near me because I would totally start buying yarn every day it's so pretty (without the intention of making anything).

glad you're so HAPPY, HAPPY at your new job!! I totally love the yarn and BTW - I just got my FIRST sock pattern and yarn yesterday - CashSoft in a pretty green - I'm almost through with the toe (had a heck of a time with a figure 8 cast-on and the first couple of rows-whew!!)
I have a Tennessee animal friendly plate myself - much better than the regular plate and I don't mind going through the registration process - I live in Tipton County (work in Memphis/Shelby county) and I can generally walk in the door at the registration place and be out in 5 minutes.
I love your blog - check it regularly to see what's up with you. You need to knit Jacob a tie and get him to pose in one of his suits with it on!!

Please, for the love of yarn, tell me what gas station that was so that I can avoid it like the plague that it must be!
Nice choices, btw...I love Cotton Fleece/Fine and have been trying to convince myself that a twinset in Cotton Fine is a do-able project that won't make me absolutely insane.

I am so glad you love the new job! It makes going to work so much easier when you don't dread spending all your time somewhere. I believe we discussed the expired tags issue in the past...I am proud of you for taking the initiative and not getting pulled over by a bike cop, etc. And the animal friends tag? Awesome. Love the yarn....and cannot wait to see the cami you are testing! I saw she was looking for testers but don't think I am brave enough to sign up for something like that yet. Boys in suits always look so cute, I love it! ya for you and all the good things coming your way.

I am so glad for you that the new job makes you happy!! Liking both the place you work and the people you work with makes for soooooo much less stress!! We don't wan't no stress or being bummed or nothin' for our Carrioke! No Sir!
That sock yarn IS beautiful. Almost makes me want to try knitting socks again. (Me and footwear seem to have a problem getting along. I love the yarn, I even love my teeny little dpns. But the socks - they don't feel the same love for me. It's just so sad.)
Can't wait to see the Glampyre Tank - that color is beautiful!!

I'm totally jealous you got to test knit that cami. I was just too late...sigh. And I love that chevron tank you knit with the cotton fleece. I've been eyeing that number for a while and it's good to see it on someone. Totally cute!
Posted by Sarah | August 4, 2005 10:16 AM
Yes, focus on the happy stuff. Maybe it's a sign that you'll get $80 from somewhere...
Posted by Gina | August 4, 2005 10:16 AM
Yay for happies! I am really bad about the car thing too, actually I need to get my renewed today (only 4 months late) since I am going out of town this weekend. And that can get REALLY expensive.
Posted by Chrissie | August 4, 2005 9:38 AM
Yay for happy days! That's great that your job is working out. Your yarn looks yummers too.
Posted by biglug | August 4, 2005 9:30 AM
a happy carrieoke is a mighty good thing indeed! :)

YAY for all the happy things. So funny about Jacob and the suits. How's he feel about it? G had to wear a suit today and the obscenities streaming from his mouth were enough to make a sailor blush. He sees a suit like a noose around his neck.
But he does look cute in them.
I'm so glad the job is good - that makes all the difference in the world.
