Ya'll come on in.
Welcome to the new blog! I still have some kinks to work out, but it's pretty much where I want it to be. Thanks for clicking and finding me here - and change yer links!
I actually have some knitting to show! I've been knitting a lot (which may or may not have to do with borrowing Seasons 2 and 3 of Alias from Miss High Energy. Oh, Season 3, how strange you are. But still I watched the whole damn thing...someone give me hope for Season 4, please?) Knitting during Alias means lots of stockinette or ribbing, because I'm not even going to think about working on my Flower Basket Shawl while I'm engrossed in a show. But, I have been working on this little number:

Ribbon yarn makes me happy.
Fabulous Carolyn sent me this beautiful Mikado Ribbon yarn and a pattern for a super cute strappy tank top, and as soon as I saw this shiny yummy yarn, I put aside my current project and cast on. (I'm so easily distracted.) It knits up SO prettily...I'm hoping that the tank turns out because I (ahem) was so excited that I didn't check gauge. Hee. But ribbing stretches, right? So it will fit.
My current work-in-progress was the Bella sweater from Rowan's It's a Tape Thing. I'm using Rowan River Tape, which is gorgeous yarn, but I can't seem to get gauge with it. (I didn't actually do a swatch for this one either...I just knit the back and two front sides before realizing my gauge was a wee bit off. Oops.) It's a fast knit on large needles, so it's okay, but the yummy Mikado gave me a little distraction from my re-knitting.
Bella likes the River Tape project because of its name, but she also loves the yarn. See?

Bad. Schmoo.
I salvaged most of the yarn. I think she brought the rawhide over to make it seem like she wasn't involved in the tangling of the yarn. Of course instead of scolding her, I took a picture. D'oh.
ooh! I have one more thing to show you -- my blocked Morehouse Merino shawl!

Blocking is cool.
(but I think it makes my butt look kinda big.)
I could've blocked this shawl even larger -- I can't believe how big it got! I *love* this shawl. It's so easy to make, and it's lightweight - I could totally use it in the summer. If I ever needed a shawl for any reason in the summer. Here's my serious shawl pose: click, and here's the shoulder shot: click. Yay shawl time.
I want to again thank Miss Fluffa herself for all of her help, encouragement and support while over at Pretty Posies for my blog hosting -- Becky really encouraged me to keep doing this when I first started blogging, answered a zillion questions, and she is a not only a fabulous web hostess, but a great bloggy friend! Thank you Becky!
well, I hope you like the new site as much as I do. I'm excited about playing around with the new space...but not until I go knit some more on that ribbon yarn. Bye!

Long-time-lurker, first-time-commenter...I think...I may have commented before...anyway...
I haven't even finished reading the entry, I just had to comment on the whole Alias thing.
I agree 100% with Purly Whites, season 3 was a little weird, but JJ Abrams will agree that the writing was a little off. Season 4 seemed a little hokey in the beginning, I only watched it out of habit, but it ends with a huge bang.
Keep up the great work, I love the new site!

oooh. morehouse merino! eeee! baddest schmoo ever!
love the new digs! um, except for one thing, when I first saw the shawl pic, I thought you were wearing some huge crazy G-string that was so giant it had its own wingspan. Then I opened BOTH eyes and realized that you did in fact have pants on. and really, the merino makes a *much* better shawl than a G-string.

I love it, love it, love it, love it. The shawl and the site that is. Way to go Carrie!

cool new site dude. why is everyone dissing on the baracuda? if jacob decides to get rid of it, i know someone that might take it off of your hands...onto knitting- i love the shawl! i have been a bad knitter lately. haven't done a thing. maybe we need to have another knitting night soon? anyway, i like your new site and your lovely knit items. see you soon!

I loved your old blog - new one is great too! Yours was one of the first knitting blogs I found after teaching myself to knit on the internet. You inspire me to finish things AND I only wish I had your butt - why I'd put it smack dab in the camera with the shawl hanging just on it!!
You're such a "FUN communicator" - keep up the great stuff - I've been contemplating my own blog but yours is pretty darn hard to follow!
Robin, Molly and Sadie (chew yarn? who chewed yarn? did you leave some out where we could get it? - oh my, we thought it was a new chew toy - just not completed!!!!!!!!)
Posted by Robin | June 20, 2005 1:35 PM
The shawl is gorgeousness! Was it a MM pattern?
Posted by mindy | June 20, 2005 9:28 AM
Great new site! It has brought me out of Bloglines lurking mode. The yarn for the shawl looks incredible. I want some now.

But how do you cope with that fish growing out of your head?

I lurked around your old blog, but now seems like a good time to come out of hiding and tell you that your new site looks great!
Everyone else seems to like your 'serious' shawl pose, but me, I prefer the fish-going-through-your-head shoulder pose. Hehe.

You know, Chappy used to do that, too. He'd bring a toy over next to my slippers or whatever it was he was NOT supposed to chew on and he would chew innocently away for a while and then all of a sudden, he'd have my slipper in his mouth. Even now, he's really subtle about snatching things--he doesn't do it that often any more--but he's sneaky, right out from under my nose!
Posted by Deb | June 17, 2005 8:19 PM
That shawl is GIANT. (unlike your butt...but pantylines, hello) Bella lookes like she is eating spaghetti in the photo. And I love the new site look.
Posted by Anne Marie | June 17, 2005 3:56 PM
OOOOOOOHHHH! Fancy Schmancy new blog! I love it!
Your "serious" shawl pose cracked me up, and the shawl itself is simply smashing. My dogs eat my yarn too....and the do that same thing with the rawhide/assorted other toys to try to make it look like they did nothing wrong. Riiiiighhht. I admire Bella for trying to be sneaky, thats too cute.
Going to change link right now......

Carrieoke - You Cutie! I love reading your blog and seeing all of your lovely knitting. I just learned about a year ago and I just keep knitting! I can't stop. Hey - I have a cat named Bella, and she's a sweetie pie too.
Take Care!

Bella's blond-y blond hair is so adorable.
Your shawl looks so wonderful! It really turned out great. Knitting schmoo.

Well Carrie...you have been a busy schmoo! I love your new site & the wallpaper ROCKS! Great work!!
Your shawl looks great. I'm in Birch process, so I'll have to wait to knit that one up.

Love the new site!
Oh, how I hated season 3 of Alias. Season four gets off to a rocky start, but about 2/3's of the way through, it gets really good. At least that's my opinion.

Congrats on the new home.
Lovely shawl...cutie puppy!
Posted by Christie | June 17, 2005 12:34 PM
congratulations - you continue to impress with your web expertise (webspertise?).
Posted by karen | June 17, 2005 12:30 PM
Congrats on the new space!
I have to say that in your serious shawl picture, you look like a russian peasant woman, wearing only her bubushka and carrying but a few meager belongings. But, of course, it's the most gorgeous bubushka ever made!

Carrie,
I just wanted to say that I feel your pain with the end of the fiscal year. I work at USC (in earthquake-ridden California), and I just can't wait for this month to be over! I really like the new shawl--very pretty.

De-lurking to wish you a happy new blog home! Your shawl is gorgeous, and your butt ain't half bad either! :) What is killing me is the fish over the mantle. I kind of love it, but only reservedly . . .
Posted by megan | June 17, 2005 11:33 AM
Site looks great, shawl looks great, your butt only looks big because of the way you're standing. The narrow point of the shawl makes it look worse than it it.
Posted by Janice in GA | June 17, 2005 11:28 AM
New blog is great, shawl is beautiful, and oh my the pooch is cute.
Posted by Rebekah | June 17, 2005 11:25 AM
Carrie, the site looks great! So does the shawl. Thanks for commenting on my blog. I'm not sure what happened but your comment got deleted. I'm not trying to diss you or anything, I just don't know how to use typepad yet. Anyway, I'm trying to avoid renting Alias because I know I will be sucked in. It's only a matter of time though - damn those cute wigs she wears! TV on DVD forever!

Ooh, I love that shawl! I'm very much in a shawl mood right now (nevermind that it's JUNE in TEXAS). I just started knitting...how complicated is that shawl to make? I'm considering getting the kit...
I likey the new site, but where's the cartoon Carrie?
Posted by Kelly | June 17, 2005 11:03 AM
Love the new site. And the new project, beautiful color. The shawl looks amazing, and what butt??
Posted by Vicki | June 17, 2005 10:57 AM
Look at your pretty new site! Although I must admit to missing the cartoon you singing and knitting at the same time while reading about your adventures. That cartoon you is pretty talented. I just joining pretty posies (working on my space right now) so I'm glad to hear you say so many amazing things about it! Looking forward to poking around more on the new site (love the galleries btw).

Hey, Carrie, I love your new digs!
That shawl is really pretty too!
Posted by Kelly | June 17, 2005 10:16 AM
I think your butt looks great. Not that I was looking or anything. Not that there's anything wrong with that! But since you pointed it out... However, if you think it doesn't look good, you could hypothesize that maybe it stumbled into some bad lighting.
Hello. I OD'd on Seinfeld.
Posted by Rachel | June 17, 2005 10:03 AM
Oh, there you are! Hahaha. ;-)
I saw the site before anyone else - lalalala - annoying singsong dingy dangy.
Bad schmoo for sure.
Posted by Jenny | June 17, 2005 9:54 AM
Hey, congrats on the new digs! I love the wallpaper!
And the knitting, of course. Beautiful shawl!
Posted by Em | June 17, 2005 9:24 AM
Cool new site, Carrie! Gosh, I love that shawl! I got some of that Morehouse yarn too for the same shawl at MDS&W. Can't wait to use it. I hope mine come out as good as yours :)
Have a good weekend!

I want to know--does the mounted fish talk? Or did Jacob ketch him in the rivuh? =) Happy Friday!

Hi! I'm in awe over all the cool stuff you knit. This shawl is fit for an angel.
I first came across you in your old blog looking up something on google. The sweatpants - amazing!!! But I fell in love with the purple legwarmers. Any chance you have that pattern posted anywhere and is it even kosher for me to ask for the pattern? If i'm not committing any major faux pas and you would be glad to share your legwarmer pattern with me, please send me an email at kikajess@ gmail.com. Thank you!
Posted by Lunia | June 17, 2005 2:33 AM
Hey, nice new site you've got here! How fun! I love your shawl, too- especially the serious shot- it reminds me of Oliver, you know- "who will buy my sweet red roses, two blooms for a penny?"
That fish over the mantle is rad, too.
Posted by Mary-Heather | June 17, 2005 2:23 AM
The shawl looks good! I was thinking of making one for a wedding I have to go to soon. But then I remembered that the wedding is in OHIO. In OCTOBER. I don't think a shawl is gonna cut it.
Do you think I could whip up a turtleneck by then? Or more importantly...would it be inapropriate to wear a turtleneck sweater to a wedding?! Ha ha...
Posted by Stacey | June 17, 2005 2:18 AM
No, it makes your butt look GOOD.
Don't tell The Knitter I said that.
Posted by Lala | June 17, 2005 2:09 AM
