No Title
Gah! I can't even think of a damn title right now. I'm thinking about making decisions and jobby stuff and school, etc. Tomorrow I have a stressful appointment that could potentially be a great thing (read: interview) and I'm a little nervous. Send coffee. And also a good hair day.
Now I will use some distraction tactics to take my mind off the stress. Look at these cute dogs (you knew the distraction would be a schmoo, right?)

Betsy and Yoda are NOT friends.
Betsy is a tiny lab puppy (Jacob's parents just got her). She is adorable and all puppified and wants to play all the time. Yoda is not pleased with the cuteness. He wants to be left alone. Here's what happens when he gets angry.

No schmoos were harmed during the taking of this picture.
Isn't Angry Vampire Yoda the best?
In other distraction news, here is my current knitting distraction: Mikado. Ribbon.

Mmm. Shiny stretchy tanky happy times.
That's an almost completed back you see before you. The crochet hook is there for scale, although it doesn't look as tiny on the blog as it does in real life. It's teeny. Jacob was like, um, why is your shirt so tiny? But it stretches. A lot. I think it's gonna fit. I mean, I KNOW it's gonna fit, even though I, um, didn't do a gauge swatch. It will fit. This tank has been excellent TV/movie knitting. I knitted it through the Alias Season 3 finale (have you seen this piece of crap? All I'm gonna say is: the disguises? are ridiculous.) and through Sideways (which I liked okay. Jacob liked it okay too, enough to buy some Pinot Noir to drink with dinner tonight. I thought that was cute).
All this distraction isn't working - I'm still thinking about tomorrow. And grad school. And what I want to be when I grow up. Does anyone want to quit their job with me and start raising alpacas? They're really cute. Okay. Off to bed.
P.S. Thanks for all the happy housewarming comments! I'm so glad you came by. I'm thinking about finding a way to work the cartoon Carrieoke back into the design because I kinda miss her too. Is that vain? **edited to add: I'm testing her out, in small version, on the sidebar.**
P.P.S Oh my goodness! This weekend, we went to a show on Friday night (two great bands, Geoff Reacher and Welter Weight, if you're ever in Athens and get a chance to check them out). After the shows, they had Indie Rock Karaoke at the bar. Now, Athens can be a hipster kinda place sometimes, but this karaoke was TOO hilarious. They had lots of indie songs, but the funny part was that any commercial songs in the songbook had a JUSTIFICATION out to the side. Like, "Britney Spears, Hit Me Baby One More Time" -- "Came with the karaoke machine. Had to put in catalog." HAHAHAHAHA. So, I put in a song that the dude didn't have, and I had to pick one on the fly, and when I got up there I said, hey, dude, can I sing Britney Spears? And he was all, 'um, no...I'd really rather you didn't. Your song is fine.' um, okay, hipster boy. hee hee hee hee. I think I'm too mainstream for Indie Rock Karaoke. Har.

I KNOW I didn't get the bloglines on this post.
Yoda is a killer schmoo. Like a mini wookee.
NO GAUGE SWATCH=BAD SCHMOO. ;-)

Hey Carrie
I read your blog all the time. I am also from Georgia (Evans) however, currently I am living in Germany. I had to write after reading your comment about wanting to quit work and raise Alpacas. I am always making the same commit and I just had to laugh. I think you're really sweet. Good lucky with your studies, hope all goes well for you. Don't worry too much, just give it your best. It will all work out.

Hey Carrie! I've never commented on your blog before, but I ABSOLUTELY love it! You and I seem to have a lot in common. Not to mention that my name is Carrie, also! I've started blogging a little bit myself and really enjoy it. Maybe we could chit-chat sometime! Singergir83@bellsouth.net
Hope to hear from you soon!

I am totally there if you start the alpaca farm! Sometimes when I start thinking about grad school and stuff like that I just wish I could raise sheeps/alpacas/etc. or be like Elizabeth Zimmerman and knit all day while my Old Man putzes around the house. So far I've never actually acted on that feeling, but you never know.
Good luck on your interview, anyways!

Good luck at the interview! You will totally WOW them and get the job! I know you will! Sending positive vibes! P.S. I wonder how many alcoholics that movie "Sideways" brought out of the woodworks. I know my honey and I planned a dinner menu around it that also involved wine. Hee!
Posted by Rossana | June 23, 2005 9:11 AM
I know how you're feelin' - I'm going through the exact same things right now. Grad school is winning for me, though that doesn't necessarily mean I know what I want to be when I grow up. Good luck!
And the tanky looks great! I'm sure it will stretch perfectly. :-)

I knew it, I knew it was you who put me into alias several weeks ago, (or was it?)
Why thanks, we watched around 66 episodes in three weeks, and were particularily not-amazed at all by the season 3 finale. Too much plot kills the plot, IMHO.
Joking apart, thank you for leading us to such a great serie, and I luuve your puppy-pics.
Fingers crossed for your interview!

Best of luck, and more schmoos! I almost hyperventilated when I saw that picture.
Posted by Lauren | June 23, 2005 12:33 AM
Carrie...I wish you every ounce of luck tomorrow! You can do it!
I know what you mean about the back looking small. Olive that I'm knitting looks like it could fit my granddaughter. But we know (hopefully) it will stretch...lots!
Posted by Eilene | June 22, 2005 10:06 PM
Aw, baby puppy Betsy is adorable! And Yoda looks just a LITTLE bit annoyed (grin). Dog pictures are always good. Why, though, do you call them schmoos?

Happy thoughts from nor CA heading out to GA asap! Just remind yourself that you make the best choice at the time and if you don't like the direction you're heading, you just stop and change direction. Nothing's permanent. Follow your gut (head and heart are too easily swayed).

You, my dear, are hilarious. Forget web design, can I just hire you to be my fren'?
Posted by Rachel | June 22, 2005 7:46 PM
Hey - Good luck tomorrow! You will be fanfuckingtastic! I know it.
Life is so, so hard sometimes. Decision making is a killer. Trust me. I know of where I speak.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - can't wait to hear how stellar it all went.
Posted by Cara | June 22, 2005 7:38 PM
In our house, we call what Yoda's doing "Making a BAD Face." They can look horrible and evil without really being bad, can't they?
Good luck on the interview/life choices thing. Those kinds of things never get any easier. Finger crossed for you, and good thoughts heading in your direction...

i'm delurking after a few months of reading your blog. i too have be tempted by the urge to leave it all behind and raise alpacas. good luck on the road ahead...don't fight it.

Nothing can beat Karokee at Fox's!! It's top of the list.
I'm so jealous of all the beautiful knits!!

So glad you decided to keep cartoon Carrie. She's the bomb.com (or would it be bomb.net for you?). Regardless, amazing shot of the puppies. Yoda IS fierce! I just met a labradoodle puppy this weekend who looks a lot like the new schmoo. So small and so cute.
Posted by Sarah | June 22, 2005 12:44 PM
I totally agree with dropping everything and raising alpacas. These "growing up" decisions suck. I have to decide about grad school too. Yucky. Good luck! And a good hair day!
Posted by Penny | June 22, 2005 12:36 PM
I am so loving the schmoo pics. Yoda does look like he'll tear the head off of any stuffed doggie toy gettin' in his way.
I am sure you did great on your interview. Let us know how things went...
Posted by Skylar | June 22, 2005 12:20 PM
I am so with you on the raising Alpacas thing. Yoda looks fierce! Tyra Banks would say "you look fierce girl..."
Posted by BigLug | June 22, 2005 9:31 AM
YAY CARRIOKE.cOM!!! WOOO!!!! I {{heart}} it!!! It is soo much beautiful!
good luck with the jobby job interview!!! knock 'em dead girlie!
Posted by Lara | June 22, 2005 1:58 AM
Lots of luck with the interview -- your hair always looks fabu, so you certainly don't need well wishes in that department.
i'm trying to imagine what songs are played at indie rock karaoke. like the smiths? or joy division? definitely loses the fun cheesy factor that way.
Posted by carrie m | June 22, 2005 1:09 AM
Oh, no, Yoda. That way lies the dark side.
She is not Darth Betsy. Relax and let the Force flow through you...and let it lift you to hide on top of something that spaazy puppy legs cannot clamber upon.
Posted by spaazlicious | June 21, 2005 10:58 PM
ha, ha. carrie is a hipster! hipster! hipster! (are you gonna slap me now?) indie rock karaoke. fun times. you and anne marie and jacob rocked out. onto other topics- i hope your interview/job thing goes well!

First thing I thought when I came to visit the new digs was "where's the cartoon?" Yes please bring it back.
Posted by allyson | June 21, 2005 4:29 PM
Coming out of lurkdom to say hello and love your new site... though I agree with everyone - I miss the cartoon Carrie. And your dogs are hilarious!! You must have been laughing like crazy - how did you keep the camera still?
Posted by Kathy | June 21, 2005 4:12 PM
Hey Carrie! I like the new digs! Good luck tomorrow, and I am sending lots of good hair vibes your way.
Posted by Leslie | June 21, 2005 2:53 PM
Congrats on your new blog home and good luck on your job interview.
Oh, and cutest dogs, ever!
Posted by st. carrie | June 21, 2005 2:37 PM
Hey Carrie, bring back the cartoon! I miss it. Good luck with your interview! I know how you feel- I quit my job, have gone on like 25 interviews, and applied to grad school (and got in!) You can do whatever you put your mind to, I have total faith in you. Where was Indie Rock Kareoke? I wish I could have been there!
Posted by Camille | June 21, 2005 11:59 AM
Oh lab puppies are so cute, even when they are being attacked by big dogs. Of coruse that big dog better watch out, soon that puppy will tower over him. But at least he's showing that puppy who's boss.
Posted by Rebekah | June 21, 2005 11:25 AM
I love the vampire Yoda. Great wallpaper in your new place! I'm totally with you on the alpacas (hi, we met in passing at MS&W, but I'm going to join your job!), and trying to figure out what to be when I grow up! I hope the interview went well!
Posted by Cordelia | June 21, 2005 10:52 AM
best of luck on your interview! you will rock it, no worries. :)
Posted by melissa j | June 21, 2005 10:43 AM
Ha! Great pics of the pups! I love that you caught Yoda like that... my girls play/fight like this all of the time, but it is a crazy ball of teeth and nails, I am never able to get a pic of it :)
Have a good one!
Posted by Lolly | June 21, 2005 9:44 AM
Lots of good luck and good hair for your big day! I too am deep in the throes of "What do I want to be when I grow up?" and it ain't easy. But I know we'll both get there!
Posted by Megann | June 21, 2005 9:42 AM
betsy is such a little beauty! smooches to betsy! yoda on the other hand is totally scary!!!!!!! i agree alias season 3 sucked ass. so badly that i did NOT watch season 4 at all. i'll have my fingers crossed for you all day "tomorrow" (today). it'll make typing difficult but what's more important, getting my job done or helping out my carrieoke? i think we know the answer to that question!!
(indie rock karaoke is kind of a catch-22 isn't it. i mean, britney spears, aguilera, backstreet - those are really the classic karaoke ideal. you take a shitball song and make it your own. i do hate 'i will survive' but hello why do they think someone sings that every time you go to karaoke no matter what. because it's the perfect karaoke song. i just don't see indie rock having the same effect.)

I miss the cartoon Carrie--bring her back!
Love the pups...yikes!...vampire schmoos?!
Posted by Gail | June 21, 2005 9:25 AM
OH MY GOSH - that lab puppy!!!!!!!!! They are my favorite of all dogs. Brody and Bentley will vouch for that. AND they named her Betsy - I will take that as a happy schmoo moment!!!!!
Hope all is well, good hair day for the meeting, and of course good luck!!!!!
Posted by Betsy | June 21, 2005 9:03 AM
Love the new digs! Good luck with all your job/school stuff. I used to live in Athens too - I went to school there not so long ago. Such a lovely little town - I miss it!

Carrie,
Love your new blog, but miss the cartoon Carrie. Good luck with the "important meeting". Also, I'm not quite sure about the raising alpacas thing, but would love to open a LYS.

Carrie-
Your new blog is fabulous (do miss the Cartoon Carrie though!) and your ribbon tank (lovely by the way) will fit...yes! Good karma going your way on the interview as well...I am in the same boat. I wanted to let you know that I finally received my Phildar back issue from breiweb and am so excited to start on a "Mauve Beauty" sometime in the hopefully near future. If I ever get a blog of my own, I'll post pictures. So now, if anyone else was looking for that pattern it is at www.breiweb.nl (I think that's the address, but the site is called Wool Cottage Breiweb) and she takes paypal and it's not as hard to order in Dutch as I thought...but now I'm going to try to translate the pattern into English....there are also a lot of other great patterns in this one...so thank you thank you thank you for getting me hooked on finding this issue of Phildar!

Love the new home! Awww schmoo pics. You sure know how to cheer a girl up. Awesome Mikado Ribbon. Totally agree with your assessment of season 3. What a freakin' disappointment. I'm going hunting for season 4 online. It's not even on tv. here yet.
