Caffeinated.

I accidentally drank three cups of coffee and a double vanilla latte today. Wheeeeeeee! I'm jittery. Wheeeeeeee!

Here's a picture to bring joy to everyone. Or just my feet.

New shoes make a girl feel pretty.

I heart my new Sam and Libby shoes. I have extremely narrow feet and ankles that turn inward, so finding cute shoes that also fit well is kind of a challenge. Sam and Libby always fit me, and also, they were on sale at Rack Room, on a holy weekend: Buy One Pair Get The Second Pair Fifty Percent Off. Hooray for sales.

I also tried to shop for clothes in the juniors section this weekend, because the clothes in juniors are SO. MUCH. CHEAPER. Not so much. (Note to self: I no longer can wear juniors. Even the biggest size. My booty is taking over. Must buy clothes in the ladies section.)

I'm leaving for San Diego tomorrow to watch my fabulous twin sister run in the Rock and Roll Marathon. Go Cathy! Go Cathy!

Classy Cathy can run a marathon.

In addition to running marathons, Cathy teaches high school, and also lends me great clothes all the time. She's a schmoo.

The Rock and Roll Marathon has this cool thing called Wiggle Wireless -- if you register, you can actually receive text messages on your cell phone that tracks a runner's progress in the marathon. No kidding. So I'll get a TEXT MESSAGE! when Cathy is passing all the Kenyans and hitting the 10K mark, or the 20-mile mark. Isn't that so freakin' cool? (I told my friend Catherine about it this morning, and she said, "Surely we can end poverty if we can do something like that." Word.)

Oh, the knitting? Well, work was officially LAME yesterday so I decided to take a brief break and take some blurry secret pictures.

shawlysecret.jpgYummy purple shawl.

I'm all about the shawls. This shawl is going really quickly - it's laceweight yarn on size 10s, so it's a little tricksy at times, but the Morehouse Merino is SO SOFT AND DELICIOUS. I'm planning to take this shawl and my Flower Basket Shawl on my trip. I also have a River Tape project in the works, although I left the pattern book at Jacob's parents house, so I may or may not be able to continue knitting on it. And of course, Jacob's sock.

Delirious! Wheee! I'm going to go try and wrap up all the looses ends at work before I take off for the West Coast. We are staying with Jacob's cousins right near the beach! Yay! And I'm going to get to see this fabulous girl because we're flying into the OC, and also I get to ride a train. I've never ridden a train! CAN YOU STAND THE FUN TIMES?

If you are familiar with San Diego and would like to tell me about a yarn shop, please do! I may have time to pop in and buy lots of yarn -- errr -- browse. Hope ya'll have a great rest of the week.

I ADORE those shoes... pretty little bows of happiness!

Oooh pretty shoes! Good luck to your sis (although I think it will have already happened by now....? Hope it went well then!).

Those new shoes are adorable. I love shoes...

Hi Carrie, I found your blog while blog surfing, when I should've been doing lots of other stuff! Anyway, I LOVE it, but I have a little question for you, which you've porbably answered at least a dozen times...here goes...Where did you get the pattern for "Brown Beauty" from? I adore it and would love to have a go! I know you said it's from Phildar, but did you have an English copy? I live in Australia, and won't be able to get it here, (well I doubt it anyway) but any clues as to how I can get a copy would be great!
Thanks, Rach

hi Carrie! I stumbled upon your blog and it's great! I'm currently knitting Cleo, but the triangles pattern is a little buggy. I ripped it out countless times already. can't figure out what it's telling you to do from row 7 until you knit the neck ties. did you find that when you were making it?

Those shoes are ADORABLE. I love them!

I hope you have an awesome time in San Diego and woooooot to Cathy. She will rock.

Hooray for cute shoes, and you are officially the Queen of Shawls. They are ALL so pretty. Enjoy San Diego!

I gotta say "Yay for The OC and So Cal" since that's where I am originally from! Woo hoo!

I have to say, I admire that your sister runs marathons...I could never do it!! Instead, I'll be rooting for her from Florida!

I hear ya on the juniors - Forever 21 is "forever" lost on 11 year olds. I walk in there thinking, "I am having a lucky day, I'll find something cute"...but alas. There is no longer a need to look like you're naked and starving in your mid-twenties, I know. But can't we look cute at discount prices, too???
hee hee.
;o)

adore those cute shoes. Am sooooo in love with the yummy purple shawl. Go Cathy go! Keeping fingers crossed for her.

Super cute shoes! I love the MM shawl too. I have some of their yarn in the Beaujolais colorway and it is wonderful shtuff, I must tell you.

Have a safe and fantastic trip in San Diego. I grew up there, but that was long before I started knitting, so I couldn't help you with yarn shops. I heard there is supposed to be a good one in La Jolla. Browse for me!!

CUUUUTE SHOES!!!!

Have fun in CA!!! GO CATHY GO!

You know...I work in the OC and I wish I could meet you. I am sure you are going to be a busy girl this weekend though. At least you'll know I will be sending a little OC/Long Beach love your way. And YAY for Cathy...Go Cathy Go!

Though I have never met you, I almost feel as though I can hear your voice because your writing style is so distinctive. You are HI-larious. Great shoes, great descriptions, great interjections. You should teach a class.

p.s. when I get my butt in gear and do some routine maintenance, I'm going to hire you or the Beckster to help me upgrade my site. Yeah, I know, "Thanks for sharing." I felt I should give you fair warning.

I LOVE the SHOES!! I love shoes. Sigh.

The shawl looks really great too! Good luck to your sister and her running!

:)

Good luck to Cathy!!!!! Have a great trip!!!
Betsy

just had to say - i love your shoes!
becks

I hope you have a blast over in the West Coast, and I just thought I'd mention that trains are the *best* places to knit, ever. Comfier seats than airplanes, smoother ride and peace & quiet = super productive knitting time! Woohoo!

Have so much fun on the trip! We will miss you here fo sho. Tell Sister that she will do so great! I can't wait to hear all about it! See you when you get back.

You rock! Thank you for the shout out!! My best to sis and have a blast in SD...

i'm still trying to hold tight to the junior's section, but my days there are numbered. I recently walked into a "Forever 21" and I was afraid a staffer would stop me and ask, "Who do you think you're kidding?"

Have a blast in San Diego! we traveled west recently and thought SD was simply de-lovely. Good luck Cathy!

I second the Black Sheep recommendation - http://www.theblacksheep.biz/. And just a few (long) blocks away is Common Threads - http://www.fiberartshop.com/. I checked out both a few weeks ago and didn't buy a single thing, but I'm sure you'll be more successful. :) There are also a bunch of little shops and restaurants all along the street, so it's not a bad area to spend a few hours.

Cute shoes! I hear ya about the junior's department. My days of junior sizes have come and gone...and so has all of my money : (!

Sister DO rock! San Diego is a blast -- make sure to have a fish taco! Shawl looks great.

Why, oh why did I not spot those shoes when I was at Rack Room two weeks ago? I have the same narrow foot problem and I tried on about 20 pairs of shoes that all fell off when I tried to walk. Good tip about the Sam & Libby's. I had no idea!

Have fun in San Diego!

Dear Twitch,
Your shawl is looking awesome! Say 'hi' to Valerie for me and give Odile a big ol' sloppy kiss for me!
And your shoes are divine :)
PS Wouldn't it be cool if you could have that text message feature on everyday things? For example, a text message 5 minutes before dinner was ready or a text message to let you know when the Jehovah's witnesses were stopping by...

I want those shoes!! Really.

Have lots of fun.

I love those shoes! It's funny how the desire to buy yarn actually mutes some of my desire to buy shoes (don't have enough money to be buying both!)... but those are too cute...

have fun in san diego and good luck to your sister!

San Diego - there's a knitting store in Encinitas called Black Sheep that's pretty good - varied selection of yarns and books and such. There are also a couple in La Jolla, but they had crazy hours and I never made it to them when they were open.

And I love the shawl colors :) Very yummy indeed!

Good luck Cathy! Yay!

I'll be with my sister this weekend too - have a great trip. Sisters are the BEST!

Don't forget the John Wayne statue at the OC airport - it's pretty funny.

I think it's fabOO that you are travelling to root your sister on in her marathon. As a distance triathlete, I can't emphasize enough the wonderfulness that a competitor feels when family and friends root you on when you feel like poopy crap during a race. Good for you. I also really appreciate the tip on the Sam and Libby's. Seems like even Nordstrom doesn't even carry many Narrow's any longer. :-(
