Pictorial
I went a little crazy with the camera while we were watching the American Idol finale tonight. By the way, I was totally rooting for Carrie. (Although now I'm afraid that *I* can never win American Idol because my name is Carrie. Stop laughing at me.) It's probably better that Bo didn't win, because he needs to have a record deal where he can totally rock out. (And the American Idol single that Carrie will release, "Inside Your Heaven", is NOT ROCKING OUT.) But, yay Carrie!
Okay. First of all, Bella wants you to know that this is the BEST. BALL. EVER.

Don't touch my ball.
She's starting to go blond on the top of her head -- if she wasn't a dog, I would totally accuse her of bleaching her hair.
Moving on, here are some Glamour Shots of my latest knitting projects. Whee!

Close up of the Flower Basket Shawl.
Click here for a super close up of a basket. And pardon my hangnail.
I still love this pattern. I think it's going to take me a while, but I'm looking forward to my next car trip or flight so I can spend some quality time with the Flower Basket shawl.
And the Half Clappy!

Oh shiny recycled silk. You are so pretty.
Click to get closer to the silky happy times.
Still deciding on whether to block the Clap. And also, I should probably weave the ends in. So. many. ends.
And, because I suddenly am obsessed with shawls...
um, hi. I started another one.

How can I resist the Morehouse Merino?
Okay, no more shawls until I finish these three ... I promise. And I did finish someone's sock....

He even modeled it.
And I already cast on the second one -- Are you proud of me? Good. I needed that affirmation.
That seems like a lot of projects! Clearly, I need to prioritize my life, quit my job, and just knit all the time. Har. Just kidding. Although I'm leaving in a week to go to San Diego to see my sister run her marathon (GO CATHY!!!), so I'll get some knitting in. And sightseeing. And drinking. Yay, vacation.
Now, back to Law and Order. And one of the shawls.

Who are you? Me?
You're knitting shawls while thinking on Clapotis and turning out socks and two timing Morehouse Merino?
(Don't even get me started on the Law and Order.)

Don't block the Clap. I blocked mine and it's not as versatile, now, I don't think. I'm not blocking my next one and yes, there WILL be a next one!!!

Yes, yes! Block that Clap!
(Sorry; I loved that phrase and couldn't help typing it out. Hee!)

Awww, Bella is adorable! I love that pic!!
I also love that you're going to be the shawlkeeper of the century. Rock on, you.
And your fear about not being the next AI because of your name...I absolutely understand your thought logic, but I'm betting you'll surpass all that craziness anyway, because you're Carrie-oke and all...
Big wishes of happy luck and energy for Cathy and her marathon! Yay!!

I want to make a flower basket shawl too, just to make it. I doubt I would ever wear it though. Yours is looking mighty cute though.

I really enjoy the sock you made. But most of all I enjoy the man's leg who was modeling the sock. His man-hairs were quite attractive. I wish I could braid them.. but that's besides the point. I was wondering if you would be oh so kind as to knit me 3 socks. Dont ask why I need 1 extra.. I just do.
Welll THANKS!

Clap in recycled silk yarn looks great! Now I have a ton that I can work on. Any one interested in buying? LOL

Awww, BELLA! :)
Your shawly-ness is awe-inspiring. I love that recycled silk.

Aren't you supposed to be working or something? But seriously, Bela's ball is just fahhhbulous.

I think I'm knitting the same scarf from Morehouse. Can't wait to see yours finished!

Love your blog. I thought Carrie would win too...A;though Bo is pretty cute...er good too.

Good for you taking another stab at the Flower Basket Shawl. I finished mine and even won second place in the KAL contest. It's a super fun knit and I love the love the finished project.
Don't give up on it, you'll be so happy with the final result.

I didn't really know WHO I was voting for ubtil they announced Carrie's name and my heart sunk a little. It's all good though, Bo'll get a deal anyway. Although, I kinda liked his rendition of "Inside Your Heaven" or whatever it's called.
FUN KNITS, btw...

I disagree with Eponymous. You can definitley titillate an audience!
Posted by Leslie | May 26, 2005 4:47 PM
I got that same Morehouse Merino shawl kit. Very pretty.
Posted by Lolly | May 26, 2005 3:16 PM
I know you already know this, but bella is SO SWEET! I love coming over here and looking at her gorgeous little face, it totally cheers me up :D
And of course your knitting is really pretty too!

I love the shawls. Congrats on already starting the second sock! I hate second sock syndrome, so I start immediately so I won't allow myself to stall.
I think it'd be kind of cute if another Carrie won AI. But I bet Fox would take advantage of that, and make you sing duets alot, so they could say "CARRIE and CARRIE!!" all the freakin' time.

Reasons why you won't win American Idol:
a) You're too talented
b) You wouldn't sleep with one of the judges
c) You lack the necessary skeezy past to jack up the ratings and titillate the audience.

as another carrie, i was more *inspired* by her win than disheartened. i have asked my friends to make me a giant, glowing, disco-esque "carrie" sign that they can put behind me when i do something commendable at work. and i can sing air supply's "lost in love."

You're coming right in time for June gloom. :( Weather in SD is not the sunniest right now - good for a marathon, though.
Posted by Kris | May 26, 2005 10:48 AM
AM, would it be an AI audition without me??? Of course I'll be there. :-) Your clap is beautiful, great close up!
Posted by sarah b. | May 26, 2005 9:21 AM
Well, it's not like you have a problem, or anything, and I'm sure you could put the knitting aside if you really really needed to, so what's wrong with having a couple projects going?? Is the recycled sari silk as soft as it looks? I keep looking at it but then not wanting to risk it! (I've never seen it in person.) It looks beautiful for your clapotis.

Loving all the shawls, now you can come up to New England and visit... you've got plenty of shawls to keep you warm.
Posted by Kate | May 26, 2005 9:18 AM
I watched AI last night (not usually a watcher) and I was totally thinking of you the WHOLE TIME! I was pretty amazed with AI Carrie's voice. Although I felt bad for her that she had to sing when she was so emotional - wasn't her best performance.
I'm jealous you've finished your Clappy. I need to get mine done this weekend - too much other stuff to do. Speaking of which, the sock looks fantastic! Yeah for you casting on the second one right away.
Have a great day!
Posted by Cara | May 26, 2005 8:59 AM
Thanks for the close ups! Congrats on the sock...more kudos for starting the second one right away! And of course, Miss Bella is looking marvelous! Yes, car trips are the best for shawls. I think it's the only way I finished Charlottes Web.
Posted by Shelley | May 26, 2005 8:54 AM
Holy shawls! :) They are so nice to knit though...
Bella looks very protective! :)

Yay American Idol. You are SO on that damn show next year. Yay try outs in Atlanta! Maybe One Stitch Sarah will come and it will be like old times :)
PS I LOVE your LessHouse Merino shawl! When you are an old lady, you will have like 800 shawls (that I can borrow).
Posted by Anne Marie | May 26, 2005 8:37 AM
Quit working and knit all day? Sounds like a plan to me! Your projects are all quite lovely. :D
Posted by Anna | May 26, 2005 6:52 AM
So many good projects! And Carrie really won? I can't beeleeeive it. ;-) It was all of our votes.
Posted by jenny | May 26, 2005 3:52 AM
Ooh, San Diego should be nice right about now :) Enjoy!
And the flower basket shawl looks lovely so far. No interest in making shawls right now...but just watch. I will be ALL over them soon enough...ha ha!
Posted by stacey | May 26, 2005 1:34 AM
I love your flower basket shawl; the color is perfect!
Posted by Laina | May 26, 2005 1:08 AM
I love the color of that Moorehouse Merino!

Your new shawls look great! Love that Moorehouse. Bella's sooo cute!

Oh...of course I read your blog before it aired in Cali. OOPS! Great works in progess! I love your 1/2 Clap. What is the sound of Carries 1/2 Clap Clapping? Nevermind, I'm punchy.
