Don't You Wanta, Wanta, Fanta?
Jacob will not stop singing that song from the Fanta commercial. I don't actually remember the commercial, but the song is now stuck in my head. Don't you wanta, wanta, Fanta? la la la.
So, I had big plans for a fancy photo shoot with my new Grape Fanta but I got impatient and just took a bunch of pictures in the mirror. The ends aren't even completely woven in yet but I just couldn't wait any longer. At least the sun was shining in our room so it's bright enough.

purply fanta goodness. yahoo!
I made the ribbing a little shorter than the pattern called for because I felt weird about having lots of ribbing hugging my belly. so now it stops before my belly, and probably accentuates my belly more. ha. Oh well -- belly curves are cute, right!?!? More fanta pics:

Please ignore any piles of clothes you might see on the bed.
They're not mine, I swear.

front of fanta is fun!
The side seaming wasn't hard at all for this top. Stef's pattern is written so you have a nice lacy design when the two sides come together. **Note to self: next time you are really excited about seaming, and how fun it is and then you start getting cocky about how fast you are, do NOT forget about the armholes and seam both sides all the way to the collar. This is not a tube top. And pulling out mattress stitch is NOT fun. **
The shoulder seams were harder for me because I wasn't sure what to do. The lace makes nice curves at the top of each side, so I kind of followed the curves and I now have a matching lacy ridge on each shoulder. It looks like it's supposed to be there...is it? I have no idea.
At any rate, I love it, it's washable, I will make it again, definitely, and I'm so wearing it to Maryland. **Note to self: Maryland Sheep and Wool is less than a week away YAYAYAYAYAY. Note to everyone else: ARE YOU SO EXCITED? I'm so excited. **
I'm so proud of my teamies AM and High Energy Jenny for running a half marathon this weekend and kicking ass! Go congratulate them! They are rock stars, fer sure. To celebrate how cool they are, all three of us are going to go to Maryland Sheep and Wool! Yippee.
Well, that's all. I have some worky work to do before I take off this weekend so back to the grindstone.

You are SO adorable. I can't wait to give you a squeeze. Lovin' Fanta, babe.

Va va voom, baby! That looks awesome on you! (Oh god, do I hate that Fanta jingle too. They've started playing it in movie theaters. There is no escape.)
OK, when you're at MDS&W, you must go up to every knit blogger I know and tell them I told them to give you a big ol' hug.

I DETEST the fanta commercial/jingle....it really gets to me for some reason. Your grape fanta does NOT get to me though. It is a work of art, and you look so cute in it!
Posted by sarah | May 3, 2005 5:58 PM
Grape Fanta looks great! But now I have that stupid jingle in my head...just when they've stopped airing it. Oh well.
Posted by Kelly | May 3, 2005 5:52 PM
Wow, that looks so fabulous. Now I'm starting to wonder if I want to make one....Looking forward to seeing it at S&W!

Fanta = 500 comments! Looks good and like it was fun to knit. Yay! I'm jealous of all you people going to MDSWF (is that right?) Have fun together!

too cute! Don't worry I didn't see any clothes on the bed. For the next photo shoot I imagine you sipping grape pop out an old fashioned glass bottle with a bendy straw. Maybe even with an old gas station in the background. and some dust blowing. oh wait... wasn't that a pepsi commercial with cindy crawford?
Posted by elizabeth | May 3, 2005 1:16 PM
So awesome! You are a speed demon knitter!

I love Grape Fanta. It really looks fantastic on you! =) Seaming up the entire side is something that I would do, so you aren't alone.

Love the top. Purple is my fav color of the moment. I'm sooo soo sooo excited about MD!

Goodness that Grape Fanta is cute! Also making me crave grape fanta for the first time in years. They should pay you for all that advertising! :)
I just realized that the yarn I bought for my 2nd honeymoon cami is that color. I've been so admiring the purple that my brain must have just decided that I had to have it!
Posted by Stephanie | May 3, 2005 9:33 AM
That was SEW (so) funny when you seamed up the sides without leaving armholes. Both sides! Anyway, Fanta looks fabulous and so do you! Everytime I see you, you look buffer than the last time...the gym is really paying off.

Okay, I'd better jump on the Orangina train, 'cos everyone who's made one so far looks TOTALLY HOT in theirs, and I want to, too!! :) I want to know if you had to do anything special at the neckline, like a crocheted chain or anything, or is it simply bound-off?
Cuuuute!
Posted by Karma | May 2, 2005 10:22 PM
ok for real? IT IS SOOO CUTE!!! I may have to make one now! How much of the Micro-spun did it take (since I have some, now that my Honeymoon has died)?!!?!
AND OMG I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!
