What Can Brown Do for You?
After some professional blocking time with HEJ and the weaving of many ends, the Brown Beauty is finished. (I'm sorry my eyes are puffy in these pics, we had a long weekend with some doggy fights and I'm still recovering.)

The Brown Beauty in its natural habitat.
I love this sweater. Love the shaping, love the sleeves, and love the color. Yay. Still deciding on the button, but I can always change that.
More photos:

Trying to do the Fluffa "Look,Ma,no hands!" pose.
And also trying to show off my bell sleeves.
And just in case you still weren't sure what it looked like:
Where I try to pose like the Phildar model.
Where I show you the back of the sweater.
Okay, that's all. I'm really excited about this project...so excited that I started something else! Woot!

Just in time for a trip to Florida.
It's a honeymoon cami, with ribbing on the bottom. I'm using some Dale of Norway Svale in a gorgeous pink and I'm hoping to have this baby done in time to wear it this week when I'm partying with the high schoolers in Panama City, FL! WOO-HOO!
(Note: Carrieoke will NOT actually be partying with high schoolers. But, said high schoolers do have Spring Break the same week that Carrieoke will be in PCB. Carrieoke does not want to encourage irresponsible behavior in young people. However, she can be slightly irresponsible. It's a vacation.)
So I'll be in sunny Florida for half the week, barring any more doggy disasters before we leave. I need a vacation BAD. And now I have a classy sweater to wear when my shoulders get chilly at night.
Hope you are having a good Monday!

Oh...I knew it was too good to be true...just got an e-mail from Urban KnitWorks saying the Phildar back issue was no longer available. So I ordered it from www.breiweb.nl (somehow figured out how to order in Dutch) and am keeping my fingers crossed! Now I'll just have to learn how to read Dutch knitting patterns and I'll be able to make the beautiful "brown beauty" sweater(don't think I'll be able to call it something different even though mine is probably going to be a sort of mauve-ish color)...bad Carrie for making such a cool sweater that is so hard to find (but worth it!) I can't wait to see your finished Orangina! I just finished a Neverending Oceania Shawl last night and am not draping myself with it and drinking too much coffee. I think I need my own blog so I don't use up your blog space...

I love the sweater Carrie! I've been looking for the pattern since you first posted the picture...for anyone who is looking for the pattern and can't find it, I finally did...at urbanknitworks (Canadian site)...can't wait for it to arrive so I can start...I've got the perfect yarn...

Carrie, I'm new to your blog and let me just say I love it. I'm also in love with your top! I think I've just found a fun, new sweater to knit! It looks gorgeous on you! What publication is it from? Is it phildar?
congrats!

Carrie, as always, another cute project completed and modeled by awesome you! Wish we could meet up on one of your FL trips, but alas, it's not in the cards since you're not coming far enough south! Maybe someday....

Hi there. I love this sweater so much. I was wondering if you can tell me where you got the pattern for it?? Thanks!

Hi, love your blog! I've just started mine and got inspired by your "100 things" list (No. 64 made me laugh out loud), so I've just added the same feature to my website. (My blog is pretty primitive right now -- I'm just concentrating on contents for the moment. I love your site design!)
Your new sweater is really lovely, too -- congrats on finishing it. I'm awed by people who already have the skill to put together garments -- I'm working my way up to it. I'm still struggling to master gauge. I seem to knit fairly tightly in a gauge swatch and then loosen up when I do a garment. Arrgh! I've got a GIGANTIC almost-finished sweater that I'm going to have to frog soon. Oh well. Learning experience, right?
Best wishes -- carolyn

Can I have your hair?! Love it :)
Oh, and I love the sweater too. I'm still very much afraid of seaming and try to avoid getting too attached to patterns that call for it. I think i could get over my fear if I just had more time to devote to knitting these days though...

PCB last spring: my hubby and I go while he's working down there. It's college spring break week and we're in spring break hell, I mean, HQ. The thumping of the baseline kept us up all hours and drunk half-naked people crammed in the elevators with us. Very entertaining. One guy with a head shaved in patches (as though he'd passed out earlier) swayed drunkenly in the midst of a pack of people in the 'vator. I've never felt so old and responsible in my life. Have a great time but prepare for the obligatory experience of the most obnoxious traffic jam of your life each time you want to go out to eat!

Durn it! I go away for a few days and MISS the debut of the brown sweater!!!! Well, at least you took pics.
I'm so proud of you Carrie. It's so great.
Miss you guys TONS. Have a bunch goofy kid stuff to tell you about when I get back!

The sweater is gorgeous, and it looks adorable on you! You might wanna pack it to take to PCB with you, it has been getting cold in these here parts at night. It has been BEAUTIFUL during the day though, so I am sure you will have lots of fun sunny beachy happiness. FYI, just in case you decide to go with that airbrush suggestion someone made, Wal-Mart right off the beach has a wide variety of airbrushing options. For real. It's kinda funny.
Oh yeah, and when are you going to be there as I may be taking a brief trip there myself in the next weeek or so???
Posted by Sarah | April 5, 2005 12:58 PM
So cute! Great job, lady!

Rock ON with your brown sweatered self! It looks gorgeous--the color is so flattering on you (and how often can you say that about brown?)! I love the bell sleeves, too. Mmmm, mmm! That pink is sensational, too.

Dog fights are the worst, aren't they? I don't think many people understand how horribly scarring it is for the dogs AND their people...poor little guys. It's so scary.
Beautiful sweater! I love your site. :)
Posted by Rebecca | April 5, 2005 7:10 AM
It looks FABULOUS, and so do you. I don't know which I love more: the neckline or the bell sleeves. You picked the ideal color for it, too. It'll go with anything.
Have a fun trip to Florida. Tell us all about it when you get back!

Oh, the sweater is totally cute. From the progress pics I thought the colour might be a tad boring, but it really looks great!
Isn't it too warm to wear it now, though? (hah, what I really want to hear, of course, is "yes, Jodi, you can leave your winter coat in Canada, you won't need it here!")
