Summer Knitting

I know it's not quite summer yet, but it SO feels like summer in these parts. So I'm already looking at expanding my knitted summer wardrobe. The first step in this expansion was to pull out an old project that I never really finished ... my Copacabana Tiny Tank! This little tank top got thrown to the side because the pattern called for satin cord or silk cord (?) for the straps and I never found anything I liked. But the other night, I wanted to finish it! So I did.

This yarn is so comfortable.
(Please ignore the sunburned shoulders.)

I decided on some simple i-cord straps, and I was inspired by Julia's Honeymoon tank to make the straps fairly short. It totally did the trick. It fits great and I love it! Phildar is fabulous once again.

Next on the summer knitting agenda? Orangina, by fabby Stef at Glampyre Knits. Wanna see a progress picture?

Okay, so mine's not orange.It's... Purpleina. No, that's a dumb name. Grapevine?
Here's what it looks like laid out on the table.

Now, I have had a love-hate relationship with knitting lace, and I've pulled out large chunks of knitted lace in frustration. But this pattern is great. It's easy to memorize and even if you make a mistake -- (and I think I have one row that's off -- don't point it out if you see it, or I will cry!)--you can recover. I think Stef actually recommends it as a good first lace project, and I definitely agree. I can't wait to finish this!

Yay, summer. I'm trying to figure out which knitted items I want to bring to Maryland Sheep and Wool ... SO. EXCITED. Party.

In addition to that trip, I also have a trip to San Diego coming up in June! My fabulous twin sister is running a marathon for the American Stroke Association and I'm going to go cheer her on! I may be soliciting the San Diego readers for suggestions for fabulous places to eat/knit/hangout/getcoffee in the future...

Knitting night tonight! Break out the wine and the American Idol. Yay.

Every body knows that men's life seems to be not very cheap, nevertheless different people need money for various things and not every person gets enough money. Hence to get some business loans or auto loan would be a correct solution.

Like an atom bomd

She loves you!

Stupid spammers!

Fathers and sons forever!

LOVE the lace! What yarn/shade is that?? Can't wait to see it finished :-)

I'm a transplanted southerner living up north - so jealous of your sunshine and warm weather!

What a great tank, and I love the Orangina that you're knitting! Summer knitting is the greatest.

I don't know if you already saw, but we are trying to organize a knitblogger meeting at MD Sheep & Wool on Saturday. Bring a plain white tee shirt to get signed by all of the other bloggers there! If you are interested, check out my blog for more details :)

Love your Purpleina--you should stick with that name! :)

You guys are too cute in the pictures below!

I love your Copacabana tank. Do you know where I can get that pattern (which book?)

And Grapvine...great name...is going to be beautiful! Perfect summer shade.

The tiny tank looks GREAT on you. And your lace knitting is looking good too.
We went to San Diego a couple of weeks ago, but we spent almost all our time at the zoo or at the Wild Animal Park. I did, however, manage to knit a pair of socks on the trip. :-)

Love the sassy new tank, you look fab in it my dear!

PLEASE call it purpleina. I would totally love it if you called it purpleina. :)

hey- there's another jenna leaving comments on your blog. good thing they're nice comments or you might get mad at me. :)
can i tag along to sheep and wool? we can get eli to meet us there. he'd love it.

Love your website. I try to read it weekly to inspire my knitting. You're like a celebrity with that article of you and Sean Hannity...Ok, so I have two recommendations for San Diego/Pacific Beach area: Gringo's for Mexican Food (love the bean dip) and World Famous for seafood (they have something called a shrimp and lobster martini that is to die for!).

i don't think purplina sounds bad at all, but reading through all the comments I think that Grape Nehi is a fantastic suggestion. it's fun to say and keeps it in the drink theme.

p.s. i couldn't see any mistakes

Both projects look great! I love the colors, very spring/summery.

Okay, you know that I have to tell everyone that you're not wearing pants in that first photo...hence the expression that says, "I've got so much attitude, that I don't have to wear pants".

extreme sunburn jealousy over here. i'm white as a ghost. :)

p.s. the lace looks great, girl!

adorable tank! and make sure you bring the sunscreen for sheep and wool, too... i got quite the sunburn last year! (hope to see you there...)

Carrie:

If you like seafood, when you're in the San Diego area, go to Anthony's. I believe it's actually in La Jolla but it's near/over the ocean and is a fave place of mine! Enjoy your trip & find some time to check out the beaches!

That tank looks hot, hot, hot! Great job, Carrie.

Purple. Ina. I win.

Thanks for all your help at knittin! Superfuntimes. And HOUSE!

You look so cute in the tiny tank, showing off that tiny tummy. I don't see any errors in...whatever you decide to call the new project.

You call THAT a sunburn? (scoff!)

haha... just kidding I am sure it is painful.

Cute tanks! I gott check out that lacey one... I loves me some lace. That color is perfect for a springy tank too!

Love that Violetina, Lavenderina?
Whatever...Orangina.
I shall get that pattern!
Sheep & Wool!!!!!!!!!!!

love the tank! very cute!! i need to start collecting some tank patterns to beef up my knitted summer wardrobe too (oh, and i love your sunglasses too)

The tank is oh so very cute and I love the laciness of the purple.

damn! carrioke is hot in her little tank!
you go girl - keep up the summer knitting....

I love the tank; it looks great on you, sunburned shoulders and all. And, wow! the purple Orangina is awesome. Now that I've seen the pattern up close I can see why everyone loves the top.

The tank is super cute on you! I'm glad you're making Orangina in a color that shows off the lace pattern, 'cause I couldn't really see it well in other pictures I've seen. It's v. pretty.

The tops look very fab! I'm especially liking the tiny tank top - even if I could never even think about wearing it, lol! Think about bringing light knits to MS&W - it may just be May, but it'll be hot, trust me! :) (I'm wishing I could meet y'all, but I'm going up on Saturday... boo.)

Your tank is gorgeous! It looks really great on you. =) And Purpleina/Grapevine is divine!

Pretty summer tops, both of them! Can't wait to see what else you've got up your summer sleeves(less)!

Looks like some fine tank knitting going on there. They're such nice projects because they can go so quickly - yay for almost instant knitting gratification!

Your excitement for S&W is infectious! If you're interested in checking out the scene in DC at all while you're in the area, feel free to email me for suggestions, I'm happy to oblige.

I like Grape Nehi as a title meself. I was thinking Grape Koolaid but Nehi is also good and reminds me of Radar from M*A*S*H, whom I love. Also, I thought of Zinfindel, but this is not really pink and it's not a good analogy because it's alcoholic. Am I overanalyzing this? Yes. Definitely. Sorry, carry on.

I am also making a purple Orangina, and I am torn between "Grape Crush" (yum!) and "Grape Nehi" (never tried it, but hear it's good). Feel free to steal one of my names if you like :)

It maybe silly, but I like Purpleina. Hehe..but Grapevine will do.

I love little tiny tanks...plus ribbon yarn like the copa...copacabana...dododododod...oh I must stop channeling Barry Manilow every time that yarn comes up!...anyway ribbon yarn is so nice for the summer..very airy.

Yay for S&W!

Lookin good chica!

you can visit me in orange county (if time)! only one hour north of SD by car, also by amtrak train...
