Let's Hear It for the Boy Ball
So, I feel like these last couple of posts are making it seem like all I do is go out and party my weekends away in a drunken stupor. This is NOT the case. My weekend schedule (and actually, my weekday schedule) includes: Sleep. Eat. Knit. Watch Law and Order. Hang out with schmoos. Repeat. This is a great schedule, and it makes me very happy.
However, this weekend was slightly different because it was time for the Boybutante Ball, a local event put on by the Boybutante AIDS Foundation. It's a big deal in Athens - all the money raised goes to AIDS services organizations, which is totally awesome, but it's also a BIG freakin' party. There's a big drag show, and lots of Athenians pull out the most fabulous outfits to go to the Ball. So Anne Marie and I donned our Sunday best and joined in the fun. The theme was Sixteen Scandles, 80s prom bay-bee! and so here we are in all of our tacky glory.

Totally. To the max.
Yes, we went out in public like this. And we were TAME compared to some of the outfits ... the wigs! the sequins! it was awesome. I got called Mariah Carey several times. I am not sure if that was a compliment or not. It must have been the hair. And all the high notes I was busting out.
Here's me and my friend Art, who was rockin' a very Flashdance outfit:

What a feeling...
And here's the picture I have on my camera over and over again: the close up face picture.

Fun times.
We had SO much fun. Saw lots of fun people, saw my friend do an awesome drag number, and it was all for a good cause! We definitely stayed out dancing until about 3:30. And then we went to the only logical place:

Yum. Cheese Krystal.
I know you're probably really grossed out by the Krystal, and actually I am too right now, but that night, it was SO DELICIOUS. (For those who don't know,a Krystal burger is a little square burger. And they are open 24 hours. So there was a huge line at 3:30 am. This is how I felt when I saw the line.) I ate five Cheese Krystals. and I LOVED IT.
We had such a blast. Anne Marie will so tell you more at her blog. And she has more pics, too. Woo-hoo!
I actually did some knitting this weekend too! I'll tell you all about that next time, complete with pictures, but for now I'm going to drink some coffee and do some work. Maybe.

I just left a note at AM's about how fabulous you two look! Seriously, it's hard to look good in blue shadow and 80's hair, but you two look divine! And it looks like you all had such a fun time. Coooool.

Don't apologize for partying your weekends away in a drunken haze. It ruins the illusion for all of us older, settled people who are vicariously reliving our bad old days through you!

As long as you weren't using that Rustoleum as a condiment I can get with the Krystal burgers...!
You all look TOTALLY RAD.

Carrie:
Cute pics! Looks like you had fun! You mentioned previously that you were working out but your tummy was getting bigger!
I'd recommend Pilates for that- A VERY CONCENTRATED WORKOUT for your core-area around your navel-the little I've done left me feelin' the burn! Winsor Pilates is a good set! I'm going to get one myself ASAP!
Have a great week!

You girls look drop dead gorgeous. Wish fun stuff like that went on in my little sleepy town of Cambridge, Ontario...

You look so funny. I really love the hair. Those sound sorta like White Castle. Or what used to be White Castle, I don't think they're around anymore, at least not here. They're kinda gross when you think about it, but they're tasty :)

OMG I had SO much fun at the ball! I was thinking that I may have been one of the rare few that actually went to proms in the 80's! You rocked the house in the sequins girl!
And to Knittish Rossana...Krystal is like White Castle...they just may be possibly interchangeable.

WOO HOO!!! I love your 80s looks! Like, totally. I feel like I've been transported back to MY PROM. Tee hee!
P.S. You could've found those dresses in MY closet. And your boy's, too.

You guys look fabulous! Nothing like busting out the 80s wear for a good cause! Mariah's got nothing on you.
I remember going to this "event" at Studio 54 and getting totally glammed out - so UNLIKE me, but what a blast. You need to do that every once and again.

Inquiring minds want to know--did you find those dresses in your closets?? Looks like y'all had a great time for a wonderful cause! Yay!
Are Krystal Burgers like White Castle Burgers? Yum!
