Double Agent
I'm getting so close to finishing the last piece of the Brown Phildar sweater, which of course means that I will procrastinate and find other things to knit instead. I'm not sure why I do this, but here's the evidence:

Procrastination Bag.
In a fit of procrastination inspiration, I decided that a skein of Lamb's Pride Bulky needed to become a Buttonhole Bag (fabulous pattern available at Mason Dixon Knitting). I started and finished this little guy on Monday, through several episodes of Law and Order and, then Mean Girls. I used a skein of the Bulky (that's the purple part) and the top part is one strand of cream Bulky and one strand of Lion Brand Landscapes. The top part may turn out ugly -- we shall see after I felt it. But this pattern is cute and fun and super fast.
But I realized last night that I must focus on the Phildar, because I really want to wear the Brown Sweater! So, Tuesday night being my favorite TV night EVER (American Idol, and House, and Law and Order SVU, hel-LO?!?!?), I got comfortable on the couch to knit knit knit knit. I also used my laundry hamper as a yarn holder while I wound a center pull skein:

This hamper is multitasking.
But dammit, SVU was a rerun! What is the world coming to? Luckily my Netflix had just come so I put in Alias. I'm watching the first season for the first time and I love this show so much. And I discovered last night that it's the BEST KNITTING TV EVER, because I get really into it and nervous for Sydney, and I'm on the edge of my seat, and then I look down and I've knitted like 35 rows of stockinette stitch. I think I knit faster when I'm nervous.
So, I'm predicting at least a completed front by the weekend. Maybe I'll sew the thing up too. Or perhaps I'll knit four more buttonhole bags and totally put off finishing the sweater. So many choices.

Cute bag, I really like the colors.
What's amusing me is the laundry hamper skein winder! Haven't been that creative, I just use the doorknob or the BF's hands...

I get the biggest kick out of following your blog! My daughter is about your age and just as pleasantly nutty! You make me giggle each time I read your posts, and you give this old lady, new knitter the courage to venture into projects that I might otherwise avoid.
It was so funny you posted the buttonhole bag after one of the ladys at my LYS just showed me the pattern. Guess she caught on that I was into felting when I bought 15 balls of Artful Yarns "Shakeshpere" on sale for 1/2 price. Saw yours posted Friday so I decided to try it. I knitted 2 plus the bottom for one this weekend. Double stranded for a more dense fabric. Felted the first one and it turned out so cute! Can't wait to do the others. They'll make great, quick gifts. Looking forward to seeing your's post felting!

The purse is awesome...I feel honored that I have seen the felted product before it gets on the blog!
And thanks for getting me addicted to another damn tv show!

i think the bag will look awesome when felted.

Nice buttonhole bag. Some of the nicest things are made in fits of procrastination!

You said it sister!
I always get the startitis as I am finishing up...in this case rogue...I want to start something small and quick.
Love the bag...it's just the springboard you need to finish the other!

RE: Alias
First three seasons are great, but avoid the fourth. Really. It sucks.

not only was SVU a rerun but it was one they just showed, like, a month ago!!!! grrrr....
We just finished an Alias obsession marathon, I think we watched season 1, 2, and 3 in about 2 weeks....yay!!!!!

Alias, eh? I've never actually seen it, but I am addicted to 24 and agree that suspense is good for knitting. Unless it's SUPER suspenseful and I just sit in a trance staring at the TV. Love the buttonhole bag. I can't wait to see how it turns out felted!

I too heart the Tuesday night Fox lineup. Alas, I get into bed before Alias. I'm resisting addiction to any more tv shows as I can easily spin wildly out of control, knitting be damned! Gasp! ::Gulp:: okay there it is. I said it. Can't be helped. Sorry to take our hobby's name in vain.
In retribution, I will add that I think your buttonhole bag shows courage and ingenuity. I admire your willingness to mix these divergent kinds of yarn and I hope the felting does it justice. Toodles.

Just came across your blog and wanted to say I LOVE IT! I laughed out loud at your 100 list; there were so many I could relate to (alas, even #60). I love your hallowig, too! It gives me more motivation to learn to knit; I'm working on crochet right now, and have tried knitting a few times but get frustrated.
Cheers!

hey I tagged you for a meme, but it's short!

I like the bag! I was upset that Law and Order was a repeat. Unfortunately, tonight's AI results show will be a repeat instead...stupid person who put the phone number on the screen wrong. BLAH!

I agree! Alias is wonderful knitting time. DH and I just started getting it on the Netflix as well, and it drives us crazy waiting for the next disc each week! Although sometimes, I must admit, I get a little too into it, and find it hard to yell at the TV and remember that I have knitting....oops......

The procrastination, er...buttonhole bag looks mah-vah-lous. The purple makes me happy as I am ever a sucker for purple.

Love the bag- how fun... I can't wait to see what it looks like felted!
mm... I think I have some yarn that needs to become one of those bags!

I am in love with that bag! Will you let it marry me?
I was told once at a yarn store that cream lambs pride does not felt well. However, the yarn store lady who told me this is not very "nice" or "helpful" as the other 99% of yarn store ladies, so not sure if that's true or not. You'll find out soon enough...maybe with the landscapes next to it will behave.

That purse is so cute...What? It's for me? Oh, that is so sweet. I mean, purple IS my favorite color and everything...wishful thinking...
I still cannot fathom knitting and watching TV at the same time...I am not that coordinated...

you are so cute. i actually need reruns to knit to - i can't knit to new/fresh episodes or ones i haven't seen. i agree that alias SEASON ONE was a good show. i do not agree that current alias is a good show. ;)

Wouldn't you be fabby knitting your buttonhole bags in a new brown sweater tho? C'mon...we're excited...don't put it off any longer...Puh-LEEEZZZEEEE!!!

That's so funny--a Buttonhole Bag was also my procrastination knitting this weekend. I think there is just something about actually getting done with a quick, satisfying project (in under a day, no less) that gives me the energy to go back to the big project I'm working on. Can't wait to see how the Landscapes looks post-felting.

That SVU was a rerun? Well, I'd never seen it, and thought it was fantastic. And I too knit faster when I'm nervous, like during the last segment or so of Amazing Race, which was also on last night.

I too knit faster when the TV action is intense. I often stop knitting completely if the show is totally sneefy--I dropped my knitting about 30 times during Evelyn. I think the divine combo of TV and knitting is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.

hhmmm, i'll have to check out 'alias'. i could really use a kick in the speed knitting department. oh, and great idea with the yarn and the laundry hamper! i have a skein that i need to roll up and my hubby is out of town :(

Carrie:
Love the bag-such a nice spring lavender on the bottom. I've gotten to like SVU because of Mariska Hargitay-did you know she's Jayne Mansfield's daughter? JM is a little before my time but I can see the resemblance!
Have a great Easter!

I took my sister to see Mean Girls when it came out. When we left the theatre I said, "That was good, but not as good as Heathers." She (she is only 17) said, "What is Heathers?" I realized that I am old. SVU is the best.

The bag looks cute. I like the swirliness of the landscapes. I definitely knit faster when I'm nervous (hence my marathon basketball knitting), or when I'm listening to music with a faster beat.

24 is also fabulous for the nervous, super progress knitting. I knit a baby hat Monday night watching that show!

Finally, SOMEONE agrees with me that Alias is awesome. And yes, it is fantastic to knit to. I look forward to Weds. night for that reason alone.
