Go Teamy!

This morning, JoAnna and I got up and went to the Y. Yahoo! We successfully used the elliptical machine for 25 minutes, and then went and had some eggs and grits. Yum. I liked the exercising part, I guess, but damn, I hate getting up early. Gah. But yay for being healthy and all that. Maybe tomorrow I will attempt some more cardio.

Enough with the exercise talk! On to the knitting talk!

We had a knitting night last week on Thursday and I worked on my Clapotis. I had forgotten how much I was enjoying this knit until I pulled it out at the bar...it really sucks you in!

You would like a picture, no?

Here's the half clappy, draped oh-so-casually.

I love Clappy. I'm probably going to be ending it pretty soon, since I think I might run out of yarn soon, and I'm definitely planning on making a whole Clappy in the future. If this one ends up being too short to wear, I'm hanging it on the wall because the recycled silk yarn is THAT YUMMY.

In addition to knitting Clappy and some socks and maybe finishing a Super Secret Sweater soon, I've also sewed up two (!) bags this week! Are you ready for this? Click to see the big pic!

Bag Number One, the Hawaiian one, is a big old bag, used this morning for my gym stuff. I used some beautiful fabric sent to me by a generous crafty soul who also included some of her own beautiful dyed fabrics, among other goodies. Thanks Melly!

Bag Number Two is a little striped purse, fabric courtesy of JoAnna (also known as Teamy. We're workout buddies, ya know.) This is one of my favorite purses that I've made so far. It was perfect ... perfect, I say! ... and then I had to try a put a zipper in. But the zipper is in, and works, and I just need to add a little ribbon or something at the top to hide the sloppy stitching. I'll get the hang of it one of these days... but it's all trial and error, right? (I used the awesome Jordy bag pattern found at craftster.org for this one.)

So, the sewing is going well. Thanks to some magazines that Melanie included in her care package, Teamy and I are planning to possibly start a quilt soon. Can you believe it? Jacob is fearing that the crafts will take over the house ... but that won't happen! No...although I did already teach his sister to knit. And she's damn good too. Muhahahahahahaha ...

Just kidding.

Okay, that's my cue to go to bed. I have lots more to tell you, but I'm a sleepy schmoo, and I think there's a Bella and a Jacob somewhere in the house who want to curl up on the couch with me.

Love your half clap...what was your yardage when you were done? I am about to start mine and have finally found the perfect yarn!!!

What a neat site you have! This is the first blog I have visited & find it fascinating...where have I been hibernating for goodness sake! And I have never heard of a Clapotis before..yours is beautiful! So where did you get the pattern & the yarn? And what kind of yarn is it ...beautiful color combinations!

Hi, I found your journal while trying to find a stitch and bitch group in Athens. I've been somewhat unsuccessful, and I was wondering if the group you refered to in your blog was one or if it's a private gathering of friends? If it's private, please just ignore this comment.

I wish I could get so motivated to exercise, I need an exercise buddy too! Last year I joined Curves with a friend who had even less motivation than I. Ahem, it did NOT go well. So good for you for having a work out buddy and DOING IT! Yeah!

Love the recycled silk... droooling a bit, sorry.

Boo hoo. I can't see your pictures on my Mac. What gives?? Wah!!

I'm so proud of you doing the exercise thing. At least you aren't one of the millions of Americans who the news told us recently are perfectly content being couch potatoes. Yay you.

You are definitely clap happy. Looking good, man.

Gee, I went to the Y yesterday morning early too - but I didn't have eggs and grits afterwards. Why?? That is a brilliant idea. Can't wait to see your finished Clapotis...

Okay, it's time to de-lurk. . . I've been visiting your site for a while, and I love the design changes you've made - in particular, incorporating your illustration!
Clappy is such a rich colour! I'm in love. I'm dreaming of my very own one day, but have been holding out until I find the absolute *perfect* yarn.
Exercise: a long time ago, when I was on a swim team, we used to talk about "the window." That is, any bad health vibes, perceived or real, from what you eat in the hour after exercise are cancelled by the exercise you've just done. Cheesy pizza, cream sauces, chocolate-y saucy and rich desserts, are all negated by "the window." I still believe that it works. . . .

Wow your Clappy is so snappy!

My gosh, if my crafty life was as productive as yours I'd be one fulfilled woman! (with waay too many hand bags and shawls) You go girl...

Good for you for going to the gym... I can't even remember what mine looks like! eek! I always feel better when I am going but I just can't get myself there.

Clapotis looks beautiful- you can tell she is loved. :)

Those bags are gorgeous! The fabric is so fun on the hawaiian one!

love the lil clappy! some of these fibers and their jeweled colors are ART! you should hang that gorgeous thing up! Display with pride.

Those bags rock. I'm inspired to pull out that sewing machine that's sitting so lonely and unused in the spare room!

OH MAN. That clapotis is gorgeous. The bags are fabulous - i particularly love the purse one.

A question: I'm from Canada. We don't have Grits here. What are grits? I've eaten them once, but was leery since there's no real way to know what they are, even while eating them.

EGGS AND GRITS! Please excuse me while I salivate like a mad dog. Man, I love that. I used to visit my bro when he was studying in Georgia, and the first thing I'd want to eat: Buckwheat pancakes, eggs and grits. Mmmmm, boy.

When I was in college I used to go to the gym for three hour workouts, complete with cardio and free weights sessions, and then I'd go home and order a pizza with double cheese, just for my lonesome. I think of it as refueling. Badly, but refueling. Eggs and grits is better, believe me. Hee!

Clappy is a pretty color. Can't wait to see it finished!

Fantastic bags! I love the fabric - what a sweet gift. If you have two extra nights a week, we should have a knitting night AND a sewing night, yes? And that capohTEE is gorgeous and I want one. Now. 'Kay? (Just kidding...I'll just make one myself, dang it!) xo MJ

Clappy is going along quite nicely. You CAN'T give it away...how else am I suppose to borrow it? Huh?!

Of course it goes without saying that your sewing is awesome. And of course you are obsessed with it (people, she wanted to sew DURING THE SUPERBOWL!)

Love the Hawaii bag! Sassy material! I was wondering how the Clapotis progress was going along! Looks great!

I am woman, here me craft!

Clappy looks good! Those colors look great on you. You and those amazing bags, I'm going crazy wanting my sewing machine now. Keep up the good crafting :)

Your Clapotis is a stunner!! And I love the bags. Dang, girl, teach me how to sew!

I would love to comment on Clapotis, sewing, or exercise, but I'm dreaming of grits & eggs! Yummy!

Your "Clappy" is very pretty! and these new purses are so great. I need to make some of those....

Those bags look great. Keep up the crafting mania! I really like that recycled silk yarn you are using for your Clapotis, too--it's gorgeous!
