Tuesday is the new Monday
Grumble, grumble. It feels like Monday.
This weekend was fun, though. I spent the entire weekend with Jacob, Anne Marie, Drew and JoAnna (ya know, for a change...), oh, and a little time with Ranger too. Our main activity was Nintendo. Watching other people play Nintendo (and yes, I'm talking about NES) is a really good activity because everyone thinks I'm hanging out (And I am!) but also I can knit NON STOP. (By the way, Marble Madness is a total rip-off. There are only, like, five boards. Boo.)
What did I knit? Well, JoAnna was wearing these kick ass hand knit gloves that were a little torn up ....

Exhibit A
And the holes made me sad, so I offered to patch them up with some yarn and DPNs. JoAnna requested some bright yarn to patch the holes, and.... VOILA!

Exhibit B
Yay! Aren't they cute? Yay for hand knit stuff that can be repaired.
I also worked on Large Secret Project Number One (and Jacob knows it's for him, damn it, because he persists in snooping. Snooper. But I'm really going to try to hide what it looks like or what it is until Christmas). And I worked on another pair of the coolest mittenettes around, (thank you again Midnight Knitter!) and a scarf from the new Stitch and Bitch Nation (how CUTE is that book!!). I was a little fickle with my knitting this weekend...I kept jumping around from project to project. I really want to be working on Large Secret Project Number One all the time but I can't while the boy is around.
Other important projects included The Great Hair Dye Job of 2004 :

I know we look tired, but isn't our hair fab?
I got a box of that L'Oreal Couleur Experte stuff where you dye your whole head, and then use a little mascara wand to highlight it. FUN. And I used an expired coupon so I got $7 off! Anyways, Anne Marie and JoAnna did mine and it looks great, and then we used the extra highlighting stuff to do Anne Marie's. FUN TIMES.
I'm getting ready to send the socks away to their new home, and I'm also getting ready for my trip to San Francisco. I'm so excited, and also a little nervous. If I haven't already said this, my trip is for fun and relaxation, but also to work a little. I'm planning to record some tracks with my band from Athens who are now in SF, and check out the area....I already have a rough demo of one of the songs so I'm learning it and working on it actually as I'm typing. ....Trying not to be anxious about sounding like dying cat and disappointing everyone....
Okay! on that cheery note, I have to go to a phone meeting. Knitting night tonight with my new neighbor, High Energy Jenny! WooHoo! Maybe a little knitting ... and wine...will cheer me up.

Hey Carrie! I'd like to steal your button (legally.) Can you tell me how to do this for my blog? Thanks!

I'm impressed with your repair work. I have a relatively pair of new mittens that are already come unraveled at the thumb. Booooo! I doubt i'll get around to fixing them though since its such a small weave....
Countdown to Carrieoke: approximately 9 days. Yay!

Love the highlihts! I was curious about Color Expert.
How do you manage to knit a project that's anywhere near secret when you live with the recipient? I'd love to make bf an afghan, but how on earth would he not know.

I'm sure you couldn't sound like a dying cat even if you tried...

Love your hair! You look good in any color. I feel the need to go play with some hair dye now. Wish I were brave enough! I won't even have it done at the salon. I need a hair dye pal to keep me company, I think.

Hey Carrie! Kendall here. Just wanted to let you know about this knitting site I found in my anarchist community. It has lots of cool stuff, including a program called knitPro, which translates digital images into knit, crochet, needlepoint and cross-stitch patterns. You can upload jpeg, gif or png images with it.
Enjoy! Best of wishes from Richmond.

Love the hair! My bf used to dye my hair for me since it's long and hard to manage myself. But the stupid stuff gives me terrible split ends (split end trees as I like to call them) so now I'm back to boring highlightless brown. Good job with the gloves!

That hair color thingy was very brave of you. I have PTSD from ghosts of hair dye past.

Wow, your hair is looking good! Wouldn't have suspected a home dye job..Some of those just turn out AWFUL...
What happened in the first place to the gloves? You did do a good job on them, though :P Nicely done!
We all snoop sometimes...

The gloves are so awesome! You could open a little repair business...like a cobbler or something :)
And OMG do I really look like that?
Ugh!
You, on the other hand look fabulous in your fabulous new hair. They are going to worship you out west. WORSHIP!

Your hair looks great! And, I'm impressed with the repairs you made on the gloves... I don't think I'm quite on that level of knitting yet. Don't worry about your singing... I'm sure you'll sound great! I have to sing for lots of people at work all the time, and I always just try to remember that It says, "make a JOYFUL noise..." not necessarily a Beautiful noise!!! :-)
