Merry, Merry, Merry
I'm in such a holiday mood today! It's Christmas Eve, there's No One at Work, so I can listen to music really loud and maybe knit a few rows here and there. Not that I would ever knit for long periods of time at work. No, not me.
Part of the reason that I'm full of Christmas cheer is because I spent last night wrapping Christmas presents. I *heart* wrapping presents .... Jacob and I had a little Christmas factory going : he would finish the present, give it to me, tell me the recipient, and I would wrap and label accordingly. All with the oh-so-merry Law and Order SVU on in the background. The schmoos were curled up on the couch, watching the wrapping paper fly. Whee!
Another holiday happy happy: I have gotten so many lovely things recently! When I got back from California, I had these things waiting for me at home:
1. Stitch n Bitch Nation, courtesy of the lovely and hilarious Vibegrrl (thanks chica!)
2. Yummy sock yarn that I won on Ebay..... (thanks me!)
3. These totally beautiful and comfy socks from Monica, of PassionKnit!
These socks are so freakin' adorable, fit me perfectly, and are soft and comfortable. I put them on right away and wore them all day, and I FINALLY understand why people love handknits socks so much. They are so cozy! Monica also included a cute little bag and a gorgeous pair of earrings that I absolutely love. Thanks Monica, for making my day!!!
4. My talented friend Mary Jessica not only gave me a Christmas card that she drew herself (and is SO CUTE), but she surprised me with a lovely handknit scarf!

beautiful ribbon yarn scarf!
Here's a dorky picture of me rockin' the scarf ... my camera isn't doing justice to MJ's work! Thanks Mary Jessica, I can't wait to wear it!
I mean, who wouldn't feel Christmasy with all this Christmas cheer flying around?
I would love to show a picture of the partially finished Super Secret Project, but its recipient (Jacob) has no self control and will of course click on any pictures that he is specifically told NOT TO CLICK ON. But it's almost done...although I don't think it will be completely finished by Christmas Day. Is it tacky to give someone pieces of a sweater? (Although, at this point, Jacob has seen me at my tackiest, so giving sweater pieces won't be that bad....) Once I finish this bad boy, I think it will be one of the coolest things I've knitted. We shall see....
I have some knitting ...errr ... work to do, so I need to get going. But everyone have a wonderful holiday weekend, or week, if you celebrate! I have ALL NEXT WEEK OFF, woot!

I finally got a chance to catch up on blog reading so I'm chiming in late on your post. I'm so glad the socks fit you and that you like them. I was really worried that they would be too big! I had fun knitting them for you!

Merry and Happy to you too (although belated). I lOVE that you got to knit at work - but only a little.
And I *heart* wrapping presents too. Have considered wrapping random things (you know, salt shakers or something) because I miss is during the rest of the year...
Just kidding :-)

And speaking of socks...thanks SO much for the sock yarn you gave me...I have already dropped everything else I am doing and started a pair on #2's. I'm past the ribbing and am on the shin part. My first pair of socks Yay! It's truly sublime. AAAaaah!

I just wanted to pop on and tell you that I LOVE this scarf and I adore this blog! You and Run On Sentences (who I found through you) have inspired me to start up my knitting blog. Apparently, I have room for more than one addiction.... photography... then knitting... now blogging! ACK!
The socks rock. I'm getting ready to delve into sock land and I'm quite scared!
Hope you had a great holiday and I'm sure you'll see me around.

Merry Christmas, cutie-pants. I hope that when the super secret project is finished that we can see a picture of Jacob modeling it while making that super serious face like in that funny picture on your refrigerator. It can be his official The Jacob pose, like The Rachael, The Iris, etc.

I don't think it's super tacky to give sweater peices, depending on the recipient... I once gave my sweetie (also named Jacob!) one completed sock, and one still on the needles with the toe shaping to go. We live together, so it's really hard to knit a secret project. Anyway, I was really glad I hadn't finished, because when he pulled out the first sock I hid the other one artfully under tissue paper at the bottom of the gift bag) he thought I got it at J. Crew and wouldn't believe I made it until I showed the evidence. He was amazed, I was flattered, it was a beautiful thing.
Merry Christmas!!!!
