Knitters Knit

I realized last night that I never posted a picture of my finished stripey top down raglan...
(edited to add: Pattern found here on the fabulous Stef's site.) It has been finished for a while, and worn, and I love it!! Unfortunately my photographer was asleep on the couch last night when I realized this, so here's what I managed to get:

I love my stripey sweater!

As you can see, the collar is sort of a boat neck, and it fits me snugly, which I like. The sweater hits right about at my waist. And yes, if you look in the background, Jacob hung a sign above our toilet that says "Wear Your PFD (personal floatation device)". That's one of the reasons I think he's so cute! Here's another strange self-taken picture: click for stripey! Yay! I'll probably put a fabulous Jacob photo shoot version of these pictures in my finished gallery, but for now, this will do.

And, in new yarn news, I received this yumminess from a rabbit I know :

Yummy loops!
Click to see the loopiness close up.

I cannot wait to use this yarn...I'm envisioning a lovely, loopy scarf. Oh boy! Thank you thank you Miss Skinny Rabbit!

And, my mom got me this during a wedding gift basket trip to Michael's .... may I present Matrix?

matrixball.jpg
Matrix is glad to meet you.

This yarn is becoming a long lacy scarf very soon.....
here's what it looks like
in progress. (My mom was sweet enough to get me this purply color and also an orangey color, but only if I made something for her!! Thanks Mom.) This type of ladder yarn is hard to work with, but I like the way it looks. I think it will be a very dressy scarf.

And finally: sock pictures! I am SOOOO close to finishing Sock #1 (and I'm planning to follow Jenny's advice and cast on for Sock #2 RIGHT AWAY...). I need someone with a bigger foot than mine to help me check my sizing, but I think it's gonna be great! Wanna see some pics?

Click each picture to make it bigger!

Sorry for the weird angles, but I was trying to use my macro lenses and the manual mode on my camera. (This is another reason that I think Jacob is cute: he was asleep on the couch and I could NOT get the lighting right on the closeups...it kept coming out way too bright. After fiddling with the manual functions for a while, I asked the sleeping man: "What f-stop should I use when I'm taking a close up picture of a sock under bright light?" And he answered, sleepily... "mmmfbhlbdn....8 or 11......" And I changed it, and it worked! He's a schmoo.)

Oh, so there's my sock. I think I'm starting to like size 1s...as Lara pointed out, the stitches are sooo tiny and cute! Dear Whoever Gets My Socks in the Sock Swap: I hope you like blue.

Okay, that's a lot of rambling for today. I just got so EXCITED about all the knitting stuff that was laying around last night, I had to snap some pics. Before Jacob fell asleep, I was working on my sock and stopping after every row and caressing it and trying it on and smiling and laughing to myself...so Jacob sees me going through this little ritual and he came over and smiled and said, "Aww, schmoo..you love knitting so much, don't you?" Yep. I'm a dork.

I love that top-down raglan sweater! The colour combination is just inspired! Beautiful.

your blog is so much fun to read--in fact, it inspired me to start my own! i haven't been able to make a top-down raglan yet, but it's definitely on my wish list now that i've seen how adorable yours are.

i was also in "sister of the bride/maid of honor" mode around this time last year... it was bittersweet but SO much fun. good luck with the wedding!

knit on :)

Love the top-down raglan! Looks great. And that Phildar yarn is sooooo yummy. I'm following your sock progress in hopes that it will inspire me to keep working on mine. Go, Carrie!

Yet another blog that is now linked to http://Athens101.com "evil snicker" Good blog BTW!!

-All your Athens are belong to us!

Very cute sweater!

Woo WOo! Carrie, you've about got me beat in the number of TDRs you've made! I love it!

woo WOO!

And those socks ain't bad, either!

Stripes are good and so are socks!

and thanks for visiting Loodys Lounge :)

I love the raglan, and the colors are so great. I like that Matrix yarn too, I don't think I've ever seen that at Michaels. Thanks for your blog, I love reading it!

Dude, you need to change your blog title to "House of Schmoo."

The stripey sweater looks fantastic on you! And the sock looks great! And the Matrix scarf is purty. I can see why ladder yarn like that would be weird to work with. But it looks so nice and sparkly.

So adorable. I always love your FO's. And I love the colors - what a bargain!

Soooooooooooooo adorable!

P.S. You did get two skeins, right? There were two in the envelope...

Love the sweater and it looks fab on you :) But completely envious over your sock making abilities, WOW!

LOVE your stripey jumper! (Sorry, that`s Australian speak for "sweater".) It looks fantastic on you. :)

Aaww, carrie, you're so gosh-dern cute!! where did you get the pattern for the top down? it looks great! those socks look wonderful for beginning, good job -- you should join the six-sockers :P

i love your blog! it really inspires me to knit :) i've just learned and haven't graduated past knit/purl in one straight row but i see lots of potential for fun projects. keep showing off your work. you have every reason to be proud of it!

You're knitting a sock! Good for you -- you'll come to adore those tiny needles and that skinny yarn, I promise. :)

I MISS KNITTING WITH KNITTERS!
Oh, my dear, post-trapeze show and sickness, I am all up for some knitting hoe-downs. Please welcome me back into the knitting fold, whimper whimper!
I am so impressed with those socks...yet am too scared myself to try. Perhaps you shall inspire me. In any case, I gotta do a sweater first. I MUST!!!!
xoxo MJ

Love love love the sweater. You have inspired me to try and make one, my first real sweater. How many sts did you cast on? I love the neckline!

Sometimes when I read your blog, I'm reminded of "The Smurfs"...

"So Schmoops and I were going to go schmoofing at the Schmoo down in Schmoovillage, but wouldn't you schmoo it? It was schmooed! I couldn't schmoo'in believe it! What a schmoo! All I could do was schmoo there and say 'HOLY SCHMOO!'"

;-)

I used to date a photographer/camera salesman and I can relate to your fuzzy wuzzy feelings about Jacob and his photography knowledge. Sometimes Jason used to start doing the camera-talk (to other people who understood it) and even though I had no idea what he was talking about, it was cute to listen to him talk so authoritatively about something so complicated and, to me, foreign. Now he has gone back to school to study film (we are still good friends) and he has added a whole new layer of obscure information to his vocabulary. I still like listening to him talk about weird technical stuff I don't understand sometimes.

That is one Wonderful sock...I love that sweater...it is very becoming on you ms.carrie.

That stripy sweater is so cute on you.

And I revisited your finished gallery and I had not seen those boobholder shots! Whoa, you're taking my breath away, hottie!

*YOU'RE* such a schmoo!

Look at your socks!!! They are bee-yoo-tiful. Great job, for sure.

I tried my first sock on every cm too. It's just so exciting!

Oh wow the stripey came out really well - very pretty! Also that scarf is gorgeous, the yarn looks fantastic with a lacy stitch.

I can just *picture* you trying on your sock and giggling!!! LOL! That is *soo cute* what Jacob said (not as cute as the tini tiny size 1 stitches, but still cute ;) )

I actually wore my first socks ever for the first time today!!! All day I kept taking off my shoe to look at my sock and then I'd be all like, "YAY SOCK!"

I did, however, resist shoving my foot at people and going, "LOOK! I MADE these!"

Your sweater is just one stripey heaven and it looks so cute on you...

And yipee, I said you might learn to love sock knitting with tiny needles. I looks great so far!

ack! sweater! cutestthingever! i'm at a loss for words...

okay my loss is over, thats supercute and now i think i just might have to move on from my accessory knitting onto a bigger project. would u suggest that top down raglan or is that super advanced and frustrating? let me know cause i'd love to settle in with a nice long project for the winter

Thanx
Colleen

PS: your socks are really coming along! i'm impressed, if u get pleasure from them then it's worth it!

PPS: i really love your blog i check it every day at least once to look for a new entry with more cute pics :)

That stripey sweater is so awesome! It is beautiful on you... really.

How does one get in on the mailing of beautiful french yarn? I want!

Your blog just makes me happy. :)

Okay, that sock is freakin' awesome. I want one! (I say that every time I comment).

Now I have to tell everyone that the last line on your blog is what my students wrote on the board today.

Yay wedding! I can't believe it's almost here!

your mom is cool for getting you that yarn!

Wow! Very pretty sweater.

Carrie, you are so adorable! The sweater pictures are great.
Now, as for the socks...stop caressing them and finish them! I'll try them on for ya sometime when my feet are squeaky clean, kay?
