New Entry
It's Monday. I haven't had any coffee yet.
First things first: Anne Marie has moved her blog! Change your bookmarks and go check her out: Anne Marie's New Site!
The play is over, finally, and I'm breathing a little easier since now I can have my nights back. It was fun to meet all the people, but I miss my knitting time and my Jacob time. And I need to clean the house, like right away, before some reality show comes in and deems it "the dirtiest house in Athens, GA." (Although, secretly I'm thinking, would they clean it if they came over?)
We had knitting night at Transmet last week, and we were joined by a reporter for a local magazine that is writing an article about knitting and its recent resurgence of popularity. (Said reporter is also a friend, but her identity will remain unknown for now.)
Anyways, she asked us lots of questions, and Jacob came and took pictures of us knitting. Wanna see a few?

most of us.
I look pretty mean in this picture. I'm not normally mean, I swear. The room we're in is a little sitting area at the bar that is perfect for knitting. It looks like someone's living room, complete with comfy leather couch and a fireplace. We're always a little bitter if we get there and someone else is sitting in there, because it's like SO our room.

Talking.
Here is me talking and flailing my hands around while Jenna and Leslie are focusing on their knitting. I'm wearing my partially finished top down raglan, which I actually wore out of the bar. We're thinking that maybe a half-finished sleeve with strings hanging out could be a new edgy fashion? (You know if Carrie on Sex and the City wore it, it would totally work.)
Jacob took a lot more, but the lighting in the bar wasn't great for pictures, so he says. I did want to share two more...

You like my kitty hat?
I've been making so many hats lately! A girl in my play saw me knitting one and said, "if I bring you some yarn, can you make me one?" Now, if I had a nickel for every time someone has said that...I'd have a lot of nickels. But Courtney actually brought me yarn the next day. It's a dark purple, just in case the color is off on your screen. And she looks damn cute in it.
And this has nothing to do with knitting, but just proves once again that my twin sister is totally awesome:

It's a Carrieoke belt!
She sent me this totally rockin' Carrieoke belt, courtesy of customglamgirl.com. How cool is that? Clearly, she's trying to butter me up before her wedding when she morphs into Bridezilla. (JUST KIDDING CATHY)
Um, in other news:
*Jacob was camping all weekend (by himself, which made me really nervous, because I did not want him to have to cut his arm off after getting trapped under a rock.) He survived and even took some nice pics of the mountains.
*I spent all weekend with the girls because my man was gone. That included karaoke with Anne Marie, JoAnna and my new friend Jenny, lunch and shopping on Saturday with Cat and Anne Marie, and sleep on Sunday. Fun times.
*I might be moving somewhere. More on that later. I can't even wrap my head around it right now, but let's just say it's a big opportunity for me, and I think I can't pass it up.
Okay. Now I need to figure out how I can sneak out of the office for some coffee without getting busted. Just kidding.....

I know what you mean about the Kittyville Hat. I just made one for my SIL, now I have to make one in pink for my neice (who is almost 2) because she won't take it off!
Please post a link to your friend's article.
Nice blog.

Nice pics -- you and your friends are adorable. And you know the time is right to move up to Canada, don't you?

Hmmm. I'm starting a rumor you're moving to San Francisco. Hey! Everyone! Carrie's moving to SF! Dude! Really!

Knitting is the coolest thing in the world. It seems like everyone I know is knitting. In honor of the act of knitting I am replacing the word "the" with the word "knit" in the English lexicon.
I also hear knit town of San Francisco is a great town this time of year. They knit in San Fran, right? RIGHT?
But seriously, I love you.

What's all this D.C./NYC talk?? I think Colorado is calling your name;-) I'm curious where you are going since your post was all mysterious! I love the progression of the Top Down Raglan and the fact that you can try it on while it's still on the needles! Love the kitty hat too!!

The belt is so cute. I still wish it was hot pink. Anyway, I love the knitting pics-- Jacob did a really good job. Also, I don't want you to move. Totally selfish of me, I admit. Sniff.

And Cathy is a genius with the belt. So Cute!

ooo!ooo! Where ya moving? Say DC or NY! ;) If you move to DC, that would rock cause that's where I live, yo (well, MD, but whatever) and if you move to NY, I'm likely to visit, so YAY!
ps - I think I like YOUR kitty hat better than mine...

Yay a new post! See, Jacob didn't have to saw off his arm last weekend afterall!
I think we should post a sign outside OUR knitting room at Transmet, sos we can give anyone the boot that tries to make themselves at home in there.
And thanks for the super link to my new site...and all the help with it!

Good luck with moving if it happens...The Northeast will welcome you!

Oh, and the carrieoke belt is totally awesome.

Please post some pictures of jacob's camping trip! I miss trees! They don't really have any of those in The OC. Just miniature trees that don't ever lose their leaves.
Moving time? :), or I should say, ;)

Soo much coolness, where do you start?
1. My goal is to make it to one of your knitting nights- looks like so much fun! I am going to a SnB tomorrow night, I think. They can't possibly be as cool as you guys though!!
2. Looove the Kitty hat- I totally need to make one of those. The dark purple is awesome- she made a good choice.
3. The carrieoke belt is awesome! Go Cathy!!
It sounds like you have worked through the move a bit more since I talked to you... We are waiting with baited breath up here to know how you are doing!

as a longtime reader and huge fan -- and new yorker -- i'd LOVE for you to move here. is this musical theater related? are you starting a one-woman show titled "yarn -- a love story"?

Awww, your group of friends looks so nice.
Meanwhile, I am stuck in D.C., no friends in sight. It is so not fair...borderline pathetic(?). You guys look super cool.
Anyway, love the raglan and the hat.
Glad to hear your boyfriend came back alive.

You know I'm pulling for the big NYC move, but hell, even D.C. is close enough. Unfinished sweaters are all the rage here.
OK, not really. But they could be. Hmmmm.

That's it! Next time I'm in the States I'm heading to GA and to Washington, D.C. I wanna hang with y'all! [I even wrote "y'all". See how much my totally non-southern self loves you???] It looks like such a fun group.
P.S. Curly yarn on the way to you :-)

ooh... moving... is it moving season or something? where are you going? well, if you end up farther north in nyc, you will always have ppl to knit and karaoke with! ;) definitely love the belt, and your twin is awesome for getting you one! can i bite your style and get one too? (that doesn't say 'carrieoke', of course) :)
Posted by joy | October 25, 2004 11:32 AM
okay...please tell me you will be possibly moving up here to DC Metro Area...I know it's incredibly selfish...but I just have to inquire! :)
Personally, I think that the unfinished raglan look is hot...and should be in the next vogue.
Love the belt.
