I Need a Dogloo
I feel kinda sick today. I think it might be allergies. Harumph.
So, to cheer me up, I present to you: Hallowig!

It's a cartoon Carrieoke!
Here's a view directly from the front, if you care. This wig is so easy to make. And it looks super cute. I may still use it for part of a Halloween costume, although I'm not sure what I would be with a bright orange acrylic knitted wig. Ideas?
And just because it's been too long, here is an absolutely adorable picture of my dog.

Please, no photographs -- I'm resting.
If you check out the top of Bella's little hut, you'll see its official name: Dogloo. Bella and Chili have a really big house in their really big pen; a doggy mansion, if you will ... Yet they still fight over the Dogloo. They LOVE the Dogloo. Chili has to fold her entire body in half to get IN the Dogloo, and she still wants to curl up in there sometimes over the luxurious doggy mansion. I know, I know -- dogs like small spaces and all that. I just think it's funny. My schmoos are funny.
So I've been doing a lot of gifty knitting lately, things that I promised to make a while ago and haven't been able to get to. For instance, a London Beanie for Jacob (okay, I have a picture, but Jacob was being REALLY silly in the picture, so you've been warned. here it is....)
I've also been working on a kitty cat hat for a friend of mine using Lion Brand Wool Ease (that's what I used for Mr. Suave's London Beanie as well) and you know what? I love Wool Ease. I know it's an acrylic blend, but it's soft and easy to knit with and hello, washable! I think I'm going to make a whole sweater out of some Wool Ease. Fiber snobs, my apologies.
My hands are freezing right now and I think I need some more coffee and some Kleenex. Harumph. What I wouldn't give right now to be sitting in front of a fireplace, knitting under an afghan with a big hot cup of tea....

Great Hallowig!! Now I wanna make one! You could go as a retro mod chic all decked out in neon colors. Or maybe even Thelma from Scooby Doo!

Hi Carrie. I really like the London Beanies you've made. I've been looking for a pattern for my dad, and I think this one should be perfect. Can you tell me what size head it fits possibly? I measured my dads, and he is 22" around. Sorry for the question, I'm still a beginner, and not too great at estimating

Fun hallowig!! I love all the fun pics you pop into your entries. I am in love with your schmoos.
I also like the fisher-price or Lego toy person. You can combo that with the 60s look and wear white tights.
Sexy!

Sadie has a Dogloo, too!!!! She LOVES it. ;-)

Right. I DEMAND that you re-do the hallowig shot, with outrageous black eyeliner and black lipstick, and sparkly orange eyeshadow.
I want one. :)

I'm breaking my blog-hiatus silence to let you know how cute that Hallowig is - hysterical. Also love the cap ensembles from earlier in the week. xox

Wilma Flintstone? Not quite the right 'do, but close. White fur dress, caveman print, purple dinosaur...

You could be a sim for halloween. That wig is very sim-ish. And I love the idea of wearing it as your winter hat. I think I'm going to make one and use it as mine.

hope you feel better soon with those allergies.
i love the dogloo. when i was still living in georgia i drove on the country roads on a regular basis, going on record-shopping trips to athens and that sort of thing with susan and our mom. at a certain time of year, lots of sweet little calves would appear at some farms, and often they would have these little tiny cow igloos, much like the dogloo, to protect them from the chill. kind of a cowloo, i guess. i always liked those.

do you think you could wear the wig to work on bad hair days?
Posted by Anne Marie | October 8, 2004 9:06 AM
I love your wig! And the colorrrrrrrrrrr! The smile with allergies going on... Yay for the virtues of the wig! I don't know why, but I just see "gray retro moon boots" working with this wig. Weird, huh?

That wig is so cute! You look adorable in it. You could be a tangerine girl!

I think a hot toddy is in order. Yep. Good for colds AND allergies. Or at least that's the line I'm sticking to.
Posted by Rachael | October 8, 2004 1:13 AM
the wig is very mod -- I say go-go dancer. get thee some white boots, pale lipstick, you know.

Gotta lova washability! I'd love to be a fiber snob, but I just don't have the money for it, or the patience for handwashing and drying flat. Where's the fun in knitting something to wear if I won't wear it so I don't have to wash it?
What a cuuuuuuute shmoo! Hope your allergies are better soon!

your wig is great! love your pics!

cute hallowig!! I gotta get on making mine. I really wanted a PINK one though, but I can't find bright-ass pink acrylic yarn!!! When you DON'T want the stuff, it's EVERYWHERE, and when you DO, you can't find it!! WTF?
Posted by Lara | October 7, 2004 4:50 PM
i love the ORANGE hallowig! it looks awesome. you picked a great color!!!! (and it'll come in handy if you ever hunt. ew.)
Posted by michelle | October 7, 2004 4:48 PM
How about Jane Jetson? She was rocking the bright orange hair! The style is a tad bit different.. but I think it could work!

All you'd need is a spacey purple dress, and you'd be set!

I love the idea of a Fischer Price Little Person... the wig is adorable. (so is your schmoo!)
Posted by melissa | October 7, 2004 3:03 PM
Oh my GOD the Hallowig is AWESOME! Eh...my mother's sweater can wait one more day while I whip one of those out...right? How long did it take you?
Love Jacob's beanie, tho' that is one eeeeeeeeevil look. :)

dude he so does not look silly. he looks murderous. my allergies are causing tears to run down my face at any given time, but usually when people are talking to me about things so NOT sad that they really can't figure out what's wrong with me. and hello the wig. awesome. you need to get your butt up to wigstock in that baby. awesome. but wear it as a costume? hello girlfriend how funny would it be to just wear it as your winter hat all winter? how funny would the looks you got be? eh? :)

The hallowig looks great! It reminds me of an Oompaloompah.

Your schmoos fight over the dogloo because it is so cozy. Dogs (and cats, and other animals) often feel most secure when they have a confined/protected space where they can relax and sleep yet be safe from predators/interruption. They also prefer it when they have a good vantage point of an area from their bed/crate/house.
Posted by Susan | October 7, 2004 2:06 PM
Yay for the hallowig! I've knit several sweaters out of Wool-ease (sport, reg weight, chunky, and t & q). Gotta love the washability.
Posted by Lauren | October 7, 2004 1:32 PM
ooh ooh I know! You could be milla jovovovovoich (hehe) in movie The 5th Element! She had ORANGE hair! Leeloo.

You never know! I dig it. If I made one for pixie I know she would wear it all the time. She loves wigs (she has disney wigs - oy vey!). Although she does wear them backwards a lot.
:) excellent. love the beanie too. Dogloo! I wish I had a teeny tiny furry schmoo...sigh.

That's it...I gotta make one. I love it.
Hmmm...maybe mine will have braids!

Love the wallowig. You could be a "futurist." Get some spaceaged outfit and a laser gun?
Bella is a schmoo. Hi schmoo! Do you love it? Do you love your dogloo?
Sorry, had to talk to Bella for a second there in schmoo language. I love it when dogs love things. Odile likes to sleep with her head under the bed. And sometimes she curls up by the toilet in the bathroom - small spaces.
Dude you better watch out - knitters the world over are gonna start stalking Jacob if you post him semi-nude wearing knitted objects.
Seasons are changing - with that comes allergies. Hope they aren't bothering you too bad.
Have a good weekend!

You could totally be Daphne from Scoobie Doo with that wig. I was her a couple of years ago... lemme see if I can find a pic and post to my blog... I made my daphne dress myself and I was so damn proud. Made hubby (then bf) dress up as Fred and everyone made fun of the "gay scarf around his neck". I felt bad about that - oops.
I like the suggestion of a weeble too (isn't that what those fisher price people are?)
Your man is v. good looking - hope that is not too forward. Yay for good looking men, Carrie!
Carrie

With that wig, I think you should be a Fisher Price little toy person. Just a thought.
Posted by mj | October 7, 2004 12:12 PM
That wig is awesome!! haha
It would be great for some cartoon character but I can't think of one with bright orange hair like that... hmmm.. Casey prob could think of one! :)
That is an awesome picture of Bella- she looks so dignified. She has such sweet soft brown eyes.
If it makes you feel any better, my allergies are driving me nutty. I have been sneezing all morning! gah!
