Halloween Time - No Knitting Content!
I love Halloween. It's become even more fun since I've lived in Athens, because you SO don't have to be a kid to take your costume seriously and dress up. In fact, you'd better have some kind of costume if you're gonna go out on the town on Halloween. Had yummy Thai food with Drew, JoAnna, Anne Marie and Jacob last night, and then we went to Wal-Mart to shop for Halloween costumes. Oh boy oh boy! Can't wait to show you pics.
But for now, all I have are pictures of our little pumpkin carving party we had on Tuesday:

Jacob makes a precision cut.
We spread out a blanket in our empty dining room and went to town, complete with roasted pumpkin seeds, wine, and even some sherry. (Anne Marie loves her some sherry.)

Glam girls carve pumpkins too!
Jenny and Anne Marie worked together on their pumpkin -- team work is always a bonus when you are carving something after a glass of wine. or two.

Again with the teamwork - this was the "artsy" team.
Drew and Joanna worked very hard on the vision for their pumpkin, and executed it with great skill. Go Team!

I heart my pumpkin.
Okay, I made mine happy and not scary. I wasn't feeling spooky, okay?
And here are the results:

from L to R: Am and Jenny's, mine, Jacob's, Drew and Joanna's.
Yay Halloween!
Sorry if I was mysterious about moving. I was trying to skimp on the details until I have all the details, and it's not a done deal yet, so I'm trying not to jinx things. But, it is the West Coast, and it is music related, and I really, really want to take a chance, but I'm so nervous and have lots of details to work out. I'm not going to say much more for a little while because someone (*coughcough* Jacob *coughcough*) would rather have the details worked out first. Ahem. So, ya'll send me lots of good decision making vibes, okay?
have a safe Halloween weekend!

The novelty of moving in Japan is wearing off--I miss Halloween! Here's to hoping that you get to make an exciting move soon too. It's not all bad, I did manage to find a plastic pumpkin today. :)

Carrie
After reading your October 25 post, I went to pick up my man; I was jealous that you have a group a pals to knit with! It is very sad of me to admit this to the world. I am not a sad sack! I am going away on quilt art retreat next weekend! But still... I wish I lived in your neck of the woods!

MOVE (not so subliminal message to counteract and surpass that of your sister)
75 degree weather, a post-urban distopian landscape, miniature trees that are supposed to be real trees, people who say "dude" more than is humanly possible, republican surfers, and going to see movies before the rest of the country gets to. Just a short list of why you should MOVE.

change is scary but change is good. i just applied for several new jobs today including one that will be a major challenge.
i have always liked this saying..."what would you try if knew you could not fail"...and i find that just sticking your head out is something to be proud of.
besides, who couldn't LOVE the west coast. though you may find it hard to get full mileage out of all your knitted goodies.

I like Drew and Joanna's pumpkin a lot--very expressive and interesting and all--but yours is the cutest.
I'm pressing my fingers to my temples and closing my eyes like some evil psychic from an old movie, only I'm sending you decision-making vibes. Reminds me, I had a horoscope recently that said that I need to express what I want to the world and then step back and let it happen (vs. getting all involved in trying to force it). You're a Cancer, too, right? Interesting.
