Kickboxing is Like Knitting, Right?
So, I think it's about time for some knitting pictures up in this piece.
Click to see what I'm working on now.
The Copacabana yarn is even lovelier to look at when you are knitting it. It's soft and pretty, and the color variegation is so, so nice. Yum.
However. I am not so good at making my stitches even when using ribbon yarn. I experienced this a little bit when I was using Katia Idea to make this tank, but it's harder for me with this yarn. Here's a close-up of my stitches -- I'm a little bashful about their unevenness, but I'll show you anyway.

Pardon our sloppiness. Carrieoke isn't used to fancy ribbon yarn.
Even so, I'm trucking along. I think with a little blocking the tank will turn out pretty enough. It's my first time with this yarn anyways, so I'm trying not to be too picky.
I've also been working on this little guy:

Why, it's a little meathead peeking around the corner!
That's all you get to see because there's a little wonkiness on this piece too. (Dang, I'm a really sloppy knitter these days.) This meathead is for Larissa's Massive Meathead Knit-up, which I am so excited about. I have one more to make and they are off to the mailman!
I've finished the Top Secret Fabulous Knitting Project and I have pictures that I REALLY REALLY want to show you but I can't until it's safely in the hands of its owner. So, I will control myself. I am v. happy about how it turned out, though.
And here are some pictures from my Labor Day Weekend trip to see my dad:

Cathy, Dad, me. And a glass of wine and a glass of iced tea.
Isn't my dad cute? He had a pretty bad stroke about five years ago, so he doesn't get out of his house much. Cathy and I whisked him away to the beach for Labor Day weekend. We had lots of fun eating seafood and watching the Braves on Tivo. Go Braves!
The only really bad thing was the weather on the way home from the beach. It was hideously awful. Luckily, Cathy was driving so I just sat in the back seat, knitted furiously, and worried about hydroplaning. Here's my worried face:

Oh, no.
Cathy saw that picture after we made it safely home and informed me that she would've gotten VERY ANGRY if she'd seen me goofing off with my camera during the storm. Hee. (I can laugh now because Cathy drove like a total rockstar in the storm and we are safe.)
So, lotsa knitting to do. And having a yard sale this weekend, so must clean. Arrgh. And taking a kickboxing class this afternoon....we'll see how that goes.

Hey, I love Ann Marie's poncho looks like just the right size. I am not crazy about the large ones. Any ideas where to get the pattern?

hehe..I can sympathize with cathy...I am not fond of driving when it's in a torrential downpour. heehee it's a very cute pic though!...Reminds me of "Oh No Mr.Bill!"
Copa tank is a lovely color...and it's cotton right? so when you wash it it should even out.

Great inspiration! I've always wondered what that ribbon yarn looked like, and now I know! Looks like fun, and your stiches look great! :)

I haven't knit with ribbon yarn yet so it's interesting to see it up close. Looks totally fine, it gives character. And the color is gorgeous. I missed out on Meatheads, but it's fun seeing them on people's sites!
Your dad is very sweet.

Carrie,
I stumbled onto your blog from the Yarn Harlot. And am so glad that I did. What a great place to spend my leisure time!
Honestly, I will never be a knitter. I do not have the coordination to use two needles at the same time. There will be damage done if you let me alone with sharp, pointy things.
So I will live vicariously through your experiences. I also have a great friend with a knitting blog, and occasionally she shares her efforts with me. See www.woolberryfarm.com.
Take care and I'll be checking in!

Your tank looks great - it's still too cold in New Zealand to even think about summer stuff but I'm really impressed with that ribbon, I'm going to look for some.
Go you on the kickboxing!

I would have been the sibling getting pissed! My brother and sister are known for their casual attitude about such things while I sometimes get uptight. Especially when the are supposed to be worried! Jeez.
Anyway, I love the colors on the tank and your Dad is very cute and lucky to have such cool daughters who steal him away for the weekend.

That yarn is gorgeous- my fav. colors! :)
2 questions:
Who makes it?
What are you making? A tank, I assume?
Love the pic of you and your dad- what a group of cuties!

hi carrie! i finally got to check out your blog again after a short hiatus (my wireless internet at home does not EVER work). although, since i'm lucky enough to live in athens and knit with you, i was pretty much up to date. still, it's fun to read your stories and see your pictures. by the way all of you carrie fans, i not only got to see her top secret knitting project, i got to try it on! let me tell you, you will not be disappointed. i considered sneaking it into my knitting bag last night and taking it home with me but i didn't do it. not because i felt bad, but because i though carrie might recognize it when she saw me wearing it out on the town this weekend. :) love ya carrie!

I heart your dad.
And your face in the backseat! I thought I was the only one who took pictures of myself freaking out....

You look so much like your mom in that picture of you, Cathy and yer Dad! Glad the rain wasn't too much of a problem. And glad your dad looks to be doing so well!

I think your stitches look great (mine are always wonky!) and that colorway is so pretty. I know it will be great on you. It sounds like you had such a wonderful weekend with your dad and your sis. I had to *lol* when I saw her comment above... I swear, that is just like my sisters and me! :)

What you can't see in that picture is me, hunched over the steering wheel, with white knuckles, trying to see the car ahead of us.
I'm not anxious in the car anyway, or anything, without five tons of rain.
I like your tank, dork. :)

I love seeing pics of your fam.
Don't worry about the wonkiness. Some yarns just do that, you can't make them behave, that's their point in life, to be wonky. You ain't sloppy!

I love the pic of you in the backseat!
